Cyber Monday

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 30 - 2009

and I be broke.  LOL  Spent all my money in the brick and mortar stores over the weekend.  So sad.  No more shopping for me.

I stayed up late last night wrapping Miss Alyce’s presents.  All of the presents for her birthday and Christmas were in the garage.  I found the big boxes easily, but I had to search forever to get through to the smaller presents that were out there for her.  Smart me, I was wearing shorts and it’s finally starting to feel like December in Iowa.  Finally got what I thought was all of them in the house.  Wrapped them and realized the rock and rolling keyboard was in the garage still.  *sigh*  Back out I went, think I put pants on?  No, went back out in shorts.  I’m so smart.

So, this is what she’s getting for her birthday -

The Barbie Power Wheels – which I noticed said up to 36 months.  Oops.  It also says up to 40 lbs and Alyce is only 30 lbs, so I’m hoping it will be ok.

You & Me Mommy Hold Me – which makes tons of noise, without being told too, and keeps freaking out in the wrapping paper.

Another baby, cuz the child loves babies.  Lots.  It’s her favorite.  She has 4 strollers if that tells you anything.

Fridge Phonics, cuz it’s cute and educational

cuz her mama has played piano her whole life and we don’t have room for a real piano.

The ZhuZhu Pet that I won from Savings Diner.

And the Little People House.  She’s got the barn, the castle, the bus, the airplane, something else.  She loves her people.  Find my people mama!  LOL  Her cake is going to be Little People.

Last night I sent Pato to get the Little People to put on the cake and he came home with these -

Dude, they are making me a farm scene cake.  Do they look like the Little People we have?  Did I say honey bring home retro little people?  You sent me a 3 text messages, a picture mail, and called me twice about the wrapping paper, might you have tried something with the little people pack other than saying it was the 50th anniversary ones?

So, those are going back and he needs to get the Little People, like say the ones up above with the house.  The ones in her movie.  The cute little kids ones.  The ones she loves.  Not the grown up ones.  What was he thinking???

My plans for today are to get the rest of the stuff done to get the place ready for her birthday party tomorrow.  And sometime, I’d really like to take a shower.  Christiano is teething and I couldn’t put him down much to take one yesterday.  He’s got one of his top ones barely poking through for a total of 3 teeth at 9 months.  He’ll be all excited when I let him eat something other than smooshed up food when he has chompers to chew them.  He is not big on the baby food right now.  When I put the spoon to his mouth he smacks it away and sends the baby food flying all over the kitchen.  I’ve been having to cut everything we eat up into teeny tiny bits that he proceeds to drop down his chest and into his diaper.  You never know what you’ll find in his diaper, but it usually makes me laugh.  Note the word usually.  Sometimes it makes me want to cry when I open his diaper.  Alyce’s too for that matter.

Oh oh oh, I wanted to show you some of the things that I have in my CafePress store.  I keep forgetting to share those!  I’ve had so much fun making things to put in there!

Give me a Hot Wolf Over A Cold Vampire Any Day

Give me a Sparkly Vampire over a Smelly Wolf Any Day

Sparkle, Damn you, sparkle!!

Paging Dr Cullen to my room Stat

I love my Twimom – I am getting this in the hoodie version for my kids I think.

Those in many different styles can be found in my Twilight section of my store.

And a nod to my Scottish heritage -

If you call it a skirt you get kilt

What’s under my kilt?  Socks & Shoes

What’s under your kilt?

Those are all in the Scottish section of my store in lots of different styles.

And I have one design in different styles in my For Her section.

I am beautiful, so are you.

I’ve been having so much fun with that stuff if you can’t tell. :)

Today’s the last day to buy my store.  And the last day for 35% off of everything if you don’t need the whole store.  It is also the last day that Doodly Do – Winter brushes – Dirty Overlays Set 1 – Doodly Do Calendar Brushes will be on sale for $1.  Stock up now!

Thanksgiving by Jordan

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 29 - 2009

Who in the world said Jordan could take off with my camera on Thanksgiving?  Oh yeah, that was me.  I was eating and he wanted to take pictures and I said, ok.  Just make sure you get one of everybody.  I didn’t bother to check them to see how they turned out while we were there still.  I won’t subject my family to posting pictures of them with food in their mouths while their mouths are in midchew and open, only because I’m sure they all have some awesome pictures of me they could use in retaliation.

Forgot how fun it was to be 10 and just snap candids and it’s certainly much cheaper than when I was snapping candids with my parents old 110 camera.  These are the ones that I was able to fix and you don’t get any “see-food”.

Nov-8

My niece Taylor

Nov-9

Pato, Christiano, and Alyce – both midchew, but the mouths are shut at least, oh, and my curls. If you see any gray, don’t mention it.

Nov-10

My sister, Abby, and the back of Mikayla’s head

Nov-11

Katiana – she got my curls. :)   Isn’t her hair getting long?

Nov-12

My brother Steve

Nov-13

My brother Josh (and his wife Shelley sneaking in on the top)

Nov-14

My daddy

He didn’t do to bad for someone who hears, DON’T TOUCH MY CAMERA! all the time.  I’d get him a digital camera for Christmas, but I’m done shopping and his $$ has been spent.  Maybe for his birthday in February.

Speaking of birthdays, can you believe Alyce is on her way to 3?  I can’t.  I started blogging when I was pregnant with her and she was my first baby who was “born” on a blog.

Alyce-bday-2

Look at her.  I’m sure I’ll post more on her birthday on Tuesday, but  I had to reminisce for a second.

Have a wonderful Sunday!  I’ve got to actually get started getting ready for her birthday party. Bathrooms need cleaned, house needs dusted, glass needs cleaned, kitchen floor needs scrubbed.  All those things you don’t do every day.  Ok, I don’t do every day.  ROFL

It’s almost the end of my buy my store sale!  I don’t know if I’ll ever have one again, so take advantage of it now.  The coupon is good for unlimited uses through January, so anything I make between now and then is yours also!

Doodly Do – Winter brushes – Dirty Overlays Set 1 – Doodly Do Calendar Brushes all on sale for $1 if you don’t need to buy the store.  And the rest of the store is 35% off!  Don’t forget Tiffany’s give away here on my blog!  Plus, my giveaway on Jaya’s blog!

Black Friday Shopping from Hades

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 28 - 2009

Boy that was fun.  Not really  Why do we do this to ourselves every year?  I think this was the first year that I didn’t get any sleep at all before shopping.  Stupid ToysRUs opening at midnight anyways.  Wednesday I went to sleep somewhere around 3 in the morning after getting all the stuff that needed to be done for my store done and humoring my husband’s best friend who was drunk and sleeping on our couch, that oh yes, I can see why you thought Jacob was 1000 times hotter than Edward in New Moon, but darling, you won’t make me switch teams, Jacob is like young enough to be my kid, I’d feel all wrong drooling over him.  Yes, Omar, he is hot.  No Omar, Bella does not end up with Jacob.  But then I ruined it for him and told him everything that happened in Breaking Dawn.  And he sat there devastated because he thinks that Bella will drop Edward for Mr Hotty werewolf.   After my job was done, I went to bed.  Christiano promptly got up at 4:30 AM.  So, I had to work him back to sleep.  Then all my kids got up at 7 on Thanksgiving.

We went and had Thanksgiving with my family. Then I came home and made a spreadsheet out of my Black Friday list.  I really did.  I thought Pato and I were going to split up.  We ended up not splitting up because truly it was too cold to wait in line with Christiano.  So Pato kept him warm in the car while I stood in lines holding our spot until stores opened.

We started at ToysRUs.  My sister in law got there at 10:30 and held our spot in line.  I got there at 11.  When she got there the line was past ToysRUs and all the way down to the end of the strip mall beside it.  By midnight the line went around the strip mall, back through trees and snaked all the way back to ToysRUs.  I guess there were people who decided they didn’t want to wait in that line, so they started a new line on the other side of the door.  Which really ticked off my line.  I couldn’t see from where I was, but Pato had a nice view in front of the door. He called me and said it looked like a mob had formed and that they were all screaming at each other.  Possibly because ToysRUs had come out and given the slips for the hot ticket items to the people who had formed the other line and been standing there for 10 minutes vs the people at the start of our line who had been there for 3 hours or more.  Finally they brought out 3 big burly guys to act as security and they figured out who was supposed to go in 1st.  Our line started going in 13 people at a time.  We had to hold hands with strangers around us and get awfully close to each other because the mob that had formed after the fact was trying to push their way in through us.  Of course, I’m not in one of the 13 who gets to go in when I get up to the door and Shelley and I stood there with people glaring and yelling at us.  How they had tickets.  I looked at the woman who was shoving her ticket in my face and said, only because you cut in line.  I thought I was going to be hit but it was our turn to enter the store. Shelley and I held hands and the lady behind us held my hand and so on, we rushed into the store.  I went straight to the electronics line waiting to get a new DSi for Jordan (since Pato can’t remember where he put Jordan’s when he grounded him like 4 months ago.) Pato paid for some of it and the rest came from Jordan’s dad as his Christmas present.  I got up there and people had tickets to buy the stuff.  I looked at the cashier and said I need a DSi.  Giving him a look that dared him to deny me.  He grabbed the DSi and I checked out with that.  Shelley at this point had been running all over the store with my list and her’s, coming back, emptying the stuff into our cart, running back off to get the rest.  We were rolling as we were in line to check out.  The cart was piled taller than I am because of the big boxes.  We kept knocking stuff off our cart as we tried to get around these small corners they made in their obstacle course to check out.  It was fun.

When I got up to check out, I noticed that some stuff was ringing up higher than the prices on the shelf said.  I asked the cashier 3 times.  No, it’ll take the price off at the end.  Are you sure?  Yes.  Mind you, I was checking out with $400 worth of stuff. I was getting the evil eye already, so I left meekly with my mound.  Pato and I went to Perkin’s to eat breakfast.  Sitting there I checked my receipt.  Nope, none of that rang up right.  It was $50 over.  Back to Toys R Us we went.  The lady told me those things didn’t go on sale until 5 AM. I said, your signs are up.  The cashier told me multiple times that yes, those were on sale.  Sorry, some of our staff is new.  I noticed! It was 4:00 and she wouldn’t give me the price difference, so I told her to take it back and I’d get it somewhere else.  Not knowing that the stupid Bakugan bowl I wanted for Jordan was freaking $10 more everywhere else.  So, he didn’t get that, unless I can find it on sale before Christmas.

At 4:30, we zipped off to Target.  Waited in line again, wishing I had put socks and shoes on instead of flip flops (Christiano was actually wearing tights because he kept pulling his socks off, at least he was warm – in the car with the heater going.).  We got everything and got in line.  I looked at my phone after standing there and there was 16 minutes until Kmart opened.  I was already upset because I thought I should be in line there early to get the net books we wanted for the kids.  I left Pato and Christiano inline and hurried over to Kmart.  Got there before it opened, my SIL and exSIL were in line, holding my spot again.  They opened the doors, we rushed back to electronics.  They had plenty of the computers, but I didn’t have a slip.  The cashier was horribly rude about it too, I almost cried.  They also didn’t have all but like 2 items on my list.  I grabbed those items, plus a Little People house for Alyce’s birthday (Tuesday).  Went to check out.  One of the toys was ringing up full price (I had gotten 2).  I said, that was in the ad for $9.99.  She said, it’s not ringing up as that.  Sorry.  I said, take it off.  I’m not getting it.  After I checked out and started walking away, she turned to the people behind me and apologized – sorry about that.  Excuse me?  I almost went off.  I was tired and cranky and you’re apologizing because I asked you to remove 2 items that you won’t price correctly?  I kept my mouth shut, got in my car and went back to Target where Pato was STILL in line.  It took him 15 more minutes to check out and get in the car.

Off we go to Menard’s.  It is now 6:45 or so (At least Kmart didn’t have long lines and I rushed through there.)  I am praying on the way over, please let there be 2 netbooks left, please let there be 2 netbooks left.  Then I thought, that’s probably rude to ask for computers straight up.  Please, if my kids are meant to have me get them netbooks for Christmas, let there be 2 netbooks left.  ROFL  I’m delirious at this point.  I went in, straight to a guy working and said, do you have netbooks left, he said, I’m not sure.  I said if you do, I’ll cry.  He said, you mean if we don’t you’ll cry?  I said, no, I’ve already set myself up for you not having them, if you have them I’ll cry.  They had a whole stack.  YIPPIE!  My whole list for Jordan and Kat revolved around getting those computers.

Here they are in the ad -

I didn’t notice the after $20 mail in rebate part until we checked out.  I also grabbed 2 DVD players for $15 (after rebate), foam blocks for Nano, and batteries (after rebate), plus a 2 GB MP3 player for $9.89.  The older 2 are getting 8 GB MP3 players (kind of like a fake itouch from Ebay) and Alyce loves to listen to Kat’s MP3 player, which is only a 250 GB one.  Pato said if I found a cheap one to grab it for Alyce so she isn’t fighting with Jordan and Kat over theirs.  I saw that little one and grabbed it.  Checked out, happy as a pig in mud (I’m an Iowan) that I got those netbooks.  Should I mention it took an hour and a half to check out after 20 minutes of shopping?  And I hadn’t grabbed a cart.  The people behind me took pity on me and let me put my stuff in their sled.  ROFL  We pulled it along til we checked out.  When I went to the rebate center to get my rebate cards, I just about died.  Did you know you get Menard’s rebates in Menard’s store credit?  What am I going to do with that?  Oh well.   My dad shops there and so does my ex-husband.  We’ll trade.

I went to call Pato to tell him I was finally done and at the door.  He was sleeping and not answering his phone.  Christiano had my keys so I couldn’t beep beep my car to find out where it was.  I just kept calling, panicking because my cell battery was flashing red.  He finally woke up after 7 phone calls and came and got me.

We went home, he went to work, Christiano and I took a 3 hour nap.  Then we headed to Walmart to see if they had anything left from our list.  They only had the lifesize dolls.  I got Jordan a Bakugan magazine and a Naruto magazine (he lives for those, I should just subscribe to them for him.) for Christmas, instead of the Leapfrog table that they were out of, I got Christiano a rocking mickey mouse (similar to a rocking horse), Kat a littlest pet shop virtual stuffed animal (they were out of those actually, but they had a cart that needed to go back on the shelf and it was in there) and a Barbie on a bike, and I think that’s it.  Checked out.  Came home, hid my Walmart purchases in the garage, it was really hidden.  My car had been packed top to bottom from the first round of shopping, and Pato had it all stacked in the garage.)

Mom dropped the girls off right as I shut the garage door.  Lucky there!  Then the mail man knocked on the door, dropping off the ZhuZhu pet that I won from Holley over at Savings Diner.  So stinking cute!  Then I sat down, with my receipts and wrote out everything for each kid on different sheets.  I picked out what Alyce was getting for her birthday (the ZhuZhu pet, a Little People house, Leapster Fridge Phonics, a baby, the Barbie Power Wheels, and something else, I can’t remember what it was, there were 6 things.) And ordered her birthday cake.  Alyce favorite thing in the world is the Little People.  HyVee said they didn’t have Little People cakes, but they could decorate a farm scene and I could buy a 2 or 3 pack of Little People off the shelf and they would put them on the cake.  I said, a girly farm?  They said sure!  I said, done!  I’ll pick it up Tuesday at 1.  So, that’s all taken care of.

Now I just need wrapping paper for birthday and Christmas, new panties for Alyce because I told her 3 year olds don’t wear diapers (ROFL  I’m not write), and a new webkinz for each kid or they lose their webkinz online stuff – you have to register a new pet every year.

Today, I’m doing NOTHING!  Nothing I tell you.  Well, I need to vacuum the living room, do the dishes, make something for the Dec blog train, but then I’m doing Nothing!

If you made it this far, bless you!  Don’t forget the freebie from yesterday, my buy my store sale (also, Doodly Do – Winter brushes – Dirty Overlays Set 1 – Doodly Do Calendar Brushes all on sale for $1) and Tiffany’s give away here on my blog!  Plus, my giveaway on Jaya’s blog!

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 25 - 2009

Yep you can!  It’s come around after 3 years!

The ad says until the 29, but I decided we should extend it through the 30!

Buy My Store

Don’t need the whole store because you already have most of it?  Yeah, you, I’m talking to you.  ROFL  No for real though, everything else in the store is 35% off, except for 3 brand new products that are only $1!  They are commercial use and they would normally be $5.99!

Doodly Do – Winter brushes

Dirty Overlays Set 1

Doodly Do Calendar Brushes

These came about because I get a lot of compliments on my handwritten word art (usually glittered in kits) and thought since some people seem to like my handwriting (myself not really being one of them. LOL) I’d put out some brushes with it.

All of those are $1 through Monday!

Check back this weekend!  I’m hoping to have a freebie up for you all!

Have a great Thanksgiving to all my friends in the US!

P.S. If you’d like to, I moved my feedburner email subscription box and Google Friend connect over to the top of the sidebar, check those out!  Then you’ll get an email when I update and will never miss a sale, a freebie, or a new products!

Did I say they were sick?

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 24 - 2009

I walk in my bedroom last night because as I was making supper I heard a lot of noise coming from there and this is what I see –

Nov-4

Nov-5

Nov-6

Yes, those are my children doing flips on my bed, while they are hacking up a lung in between.  I wonder why my back hurts every morning when I get up.

At least one of them acted how she actually felt –

Nov-7

No flips for miss Alyce, just some random jumping on bed.

That’s my kids.  They don’t slow down much even when they are sick.  You should see them when they aren’t sick.

Got to show you the Christmas card I came up with for us –

2009ChristmasCard-SM

Our last name will go where the line is.  In this picture, originally Christiano was crying, but this is the one I liked best of the other 3, so I did a face transplant on Christiano.  Took one from another shot and added it to this one.  It didn’t turn out too bad I don’t think.

Ok, credits – it’s all my own stuff –

A Winter’s Morning
Glitter Frames – The Circles
A Sparkle Here N There Set 1

I’ve got to get Kat ready for the dentist and Christiano ready for his 9 month check.

Have an awesome day!

Feeling Rather Worn Out

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 23 - 2009

I mentioned the kids were sick the other day.  I can’t remember if I mentioned that they all gave it to me too. They did.  I love how my children choose this type of thing to share.

I took all 4 of them to the walk in yesterday.  Kat was starting to improve on the prednisone, but after the last dose, her cough started getting worse again.  Jordan is coughing.  Alyce is coughing so hard she’s throwing up.  Christiano is coughing and choking.  And I’m coughing and waking them up after finally getting them all to sleep.  *sigh*  The Dr said they are all moving air well and there’s not much to do unless it progressed into something else.  So, the 2 oldest are on Delsym while Alyce and Christiano get Tylenol and the vaporizer.  I started putting Tea Tree Oil in the well of the vaporizer.  Lysol gives me asthma attacks when I’m sick, and Tea Tree Oil is good for just about everything, I figured it can’t do any harm since I use it for everything else. (Benefits of Tea Tree Oil, we always keep a few bottles in the house for everything from cuts to ear infections.)  Last night was the first time I thought to put it in the vaporizer and Christiano slept better (that doesn’t mean he slept great) than he has in days.

I should share, this is all Jordan’s fault.  I caught him on Monday when he came back from school saying to Kat, cough on me so I don’t have to go to school.  Dude, I don’t think so.  Step away from your sister!  Ok, it’s not his fault.  ROFL  I just know he was hoping he’d get sick.  Funny thing is, he hasn’t run a fever, so he hasn’t gotten to miss school.

I am just feeling beat.  It’s the mama role man.  Even though we’re sick, we can’t stop.  We have to keep going and take care of the rest of the sickies.  Except for last night, we’ve had to take turns sitting up with Christiano while he slept because he’d get to choking so bad when he was coughing it worried us.  So, we kept him semi-upright when he was sleeping and it was better.  Pato can sleep sitting up with his head on the wall.  Men.  I am not able to sleep sitting up holding the baby.  That might explain some of the exhaustion.

Our Dr said our trip to Ohio all depends on whether the kids are running temps and coughing like they have been that no, a long trip is not recommended.  This is common sense of course, but I needed to be able to tell Pato that is what the Dr said.

I’m waiting on Alyce to wake up from nap to check her diaper.  She didn’t have a wet diaper all night the night before.  She had one barely wet one yesterday that I changed because it was dirty too.  She’s had one barely wet diaper this morning.  I told the DR that she hadn’t had a wet diaper yesterday, but that was only at 1:00 PM.  If she isn’t wet when she gets up, I’m taking her back in.  She’s too little to go too long without wetting.  We’ve had to have her pumped full of fluids another time when she was sick and that was horrible.  That was only at 13 hours without a wet diaper when they had me bring her in.  And I think that was at the beginning of this year.

So, here’s the weigh in from yesterday.  Christiano at 9 months weighs 23 1/2 lbs, Alyce weighed 31 lbs, Kat was at 49 lbs, and I’ll just say that really watching what Jordan is eating, and stopping him before he gets something to his mouth has helped.  He lost 2 1/2 lbs.

I do have some good news!  Have you heard of Coolibah?  It’s digital scrapbooking on your iPhone. (I have never had iPhone envy before, but I’m starting to get it.)  You’ll now find my stuff in the Coolibah gallery when you are looking at products.  There are quite a few samples from me up there and I’m slowly but surely getting my other kits bundled up for people to choose from.  Very cool!

On that note, Christiano is hanging off of me, ready for me to put him back to sleep.  Have a great day and may the sickies not visit your house ever.

P.S. Giveaway tip – Frugal Mommy to 2 girls is giving away Goldberger’s Mommy’s Baby.  I know Alyce loves babies, so I thought I’d share.

Kristen is giving away a sleep number bed!  Cool!

So is Lizzy!
