The Twitter Bet

Posted by Heather Manning On June - 30 - 2009

Peter (Dr Carlisle Cullen in Twilight) won! Rob DeFranco was dancing down Hollywood Blvd in a bikini to All the Single Ladies. ROFL The man honored the bet. He is awesome!

First, if you missed the original bet, watch that -

Then the results of the bet! It was awesome! Not that I was there. LOL

My desktop still isn’t fixed. I think I’m going to have to resign myself to the Geek Squad fixing it. :( Or finance a new one. Hoping fixing it is cheaper than a new one. Wish I could afford a Mac.

Be back later to post a real update.

The story of my sad computer

Posted by Heather Manning On June - 20 - 2009

I am sad.  Yesterday while I was sleeping with Christiano, it must have been while Pato was vacuuming, someone spilled a glass of pop across my tablet, onto my keyboard, and down my computer (desktop).

Pato was able to save my tablet by taking it apart and swabbing it down with alcohol but my desktop is now not working.  You turn it on and the monitor light comes on but it’s just a black screen.  I wanted to cry.  I haven’t backed up since April.  That’s horrible, I know.  And I just had a bunch of new stuff I had bought a few days before.  I’m sure I can redownload, but that doesn’t save my pictures that were on there from May and June.

Pato is going to take it to a repair shop on Monday and see if it’s just something simple that needs fixed.  Keep your fingers crossed because my laptop isn’t really strong enough to design on.  It freezes when I run big files on PSP.

Tomorrow we’re going out to my mom and dad’s for Father’s Day.  We’ll have to bring some outdoor chairs because everyone is coming.  Mom is making scalloped potatoes and we’ll roast s’mores, have a bonfire, and lots of fun for the kids because all the cousins will be there.  I’d tell you I’d have pictures on Monday, but it’ll probably be a few days until I have pictures again.  :(
Have a better day than I did yesterday!

Need to find a new prenatal vitamin

Posted by Heather Manning On June - 20 - 2009

Actually, a new calcium supplement.  You’d think I was taken some kind of horse supplements because the pills are so big.  I just about choke trying to get them down.  Do you think if I’m nursing I still should be taking an extra calcium supplement or is the prenatal good enough?  I probably shouldn’t take the chance.  I don’t think you can take too much calcium.  Well, maybe you can, but not the dose I am taking.

Just a Bunch of Stuff

June Blog Train Post
June NDISB Blog Train Post

We had a busy day that culminated in going to my parents last night. We had a grill out then we were going to roast marshmallows. We started looking out to the back of the field and it was looking nasty. Lightening, dark sky, not pretty. So, we rounded up everything and took off. It took us longer to take off because for some reason my brothers don’t like to help pick up. (Hint hint boys) Pato was left gathering beer bottles, plates, taking glasses in the house, etc while I was nursing a cranky Christiano. We had forgotten the Tylenol at home and that child was not happy at all. We finally got on the road and as we were nearing the exit after my parents it started storming horribly. You couldn’t see, the hail was bouncing off my car. We thought it was going to crack my windshield. (Remember this was my new car, so I’m almost in tears driving down the interstate.) We ended up passing that exit because it’s in the middle of nowhere, no protection for the car. Before we even got to the next exit Pato had me pull under a bridge to wait it out with 3 other cars. Everyone was outside of the cars running their hands over them to see if there was hail damage, including Pato. He doesn’t think there was but he needs to see it in the daylight to double check.

We turned on 1040 WHO to listen to the news about the weather. All we hear is there is a bad thunderstorm west of my parents with golf ball size hail coming at us at 20 MPH. Um, what about the storm we’re in now? Want to tell me want to expect out of that? Please?

Finally stops so we start going again, we didn’t even get to the next exit before it started hailing again. (It was still raining hard when we left the safety of the bridge.) So, we pull up under the next bridge which only had one lone caravan under it. Do you think they could have pulled forward so we’d fit under it too? I mean, we got 3 cars under the last bridge. Nope. So, we sat there getting pelted, but it wasn’t as bad as if we were coming at it going 70 MPH. Ok, I wasn’t going 70, more like 35 MPH. LOL Hail stops again, we head on home. Now, here’s the weird part. We are driving a long, before we get to the next bridge in front of our exit, it’s storming, you can’t hardly see, windshield wipers going 1000 miles per hour, come out from under that bridge, completely dry. Not one rain drop on the ground. HUH?

We got home, Pato had me park the car in the front so that I could whisk the kids into the house before it started raining here. HA HA HA! I opened the door and the sky opened up and dumped buckets of water on us on the way into the house. Pato helped unload kids/stuff from my parents then he rushed off to the garage to make room for my car in it. (Don’t know why he always parked his car in it, his isn’t new.)

Came in, got some Tylenol down Christiano and the kids slept like babies through the rest of the storm. Of course Christian would sleep like a baby, but he is normally up and down all night. They all slept great last night. It did continue to storm for quite awhile out here, we watched the tree branches blowing in circles rather than one way or the other. Kind of freaked me out, but my baby was in the garage, so it was safe and my computers were unplugged. All good at this point. LOL

Great, just got this email alert from our news station -

A very warm, moist atmosphere, 2 frontal boundaries, and strong jet stream winds aloft have combined to give us severe weather in several rounds. Last night’s round has merged over Illinois. This morning’s round continues pushing across northern Iowa. We’re keeping a close eye on storms forecast to fire this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow. There is a moderate risk of severe weather over big portions of the state for the next 36 hours, so stay tuned to Storm Team 8.

No thank you. You can send that back. I”m done with storms for awhile.

Here’s a few pictures from our running around yesterday – enjoy!

Christiano and I – he’s still putting up with in and out of the car at this point.

If you’re wanting an effect like that on your pictures and you PSP, I ran my Soft Wash script on all of these today.

My girls in their matching Disney Princess dresses they had to have.

A very very rare picture of me and all 4 kids. Must be scrapped.

So that was our day. Let me leave you with a link to mesothelioma. I think I’ve given it before, but why not again? It’s something near and dear to our family’s hearts. My SIL’s mother died of cancer due to being exposed to asbestos for many many years at a prominent tire company here in Iowa. Thank God they now know about the harm asbestos does. A little too late though for some folks. :(

Ok, before I leave you, here’s some more info:

If you’ve been following the Twitter information coming out of Iran, I’ve got some information for you. First, here’s an avi to use on Twitter if you haven’t already changed you’re picture to green in support.

Live Twitter Stream From Iran Something that one of the guys I follow/follow me (one of my first Twitter friends, in fact) set up. All the tweets about Iran are flowing through there if you want them all in once place, or if you don’t have Twitter.

Guide for helping those in Iran when you are Twittering.

Fake Iran Election Tweeters

Other info regarding tweeting, etc with this.

A quote that was tweeted from Iran -

“I’ve learned something today. Americans DO care about the world outside America. Their media just doesn’t.”

I’m so glad they can see that your average American does care what is going on and that we’re not these selfish people we are portrayed to be.

Have a beautiful day and to those in Iran our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Pictures

Posted by Heather Manning On June - 16 - 2009

If you’re looking for the blog train posts, there are links if you take a peak over to your right.  Both of them are there.  :)

Alright.  I promised I’d get pictures edited.  And I did.

Here’s Katiana at her last soccer game.

I call this the rooster.  We were worried if he headed the ball that he’d pop it, but all was good.  He was mad that he didn’t get a medal like Katiana did.  In soccer, like in golf trophies are so important to these kids.  But, our club has decided to only give the medals out to the little ones.  I guess they figure the big kids have had enough recognition with their medals they have gotten over the years.  Jordan has enough of them tacked up to his wall as it is I guess.  Kat’s collection is just starting.

Pato’s favorite game w/Christiano – let’s pull mama’s hair.  He puts him within reach of my hair and Christiano starts grabbing handfuls, pulling until I start to swear – at Pato, not at the baby.  They think it’s great fun.  I don’t.

On our way to Missouri.  Flash didn’t go off, but I edited it to the point you can see him.  Isn’t he getting big?

Another.  I told you about that funeral we went to with the other babies.  No one could believe how he sits up like he does too.  He HATES to lay down.  Don’t try it.  It’ll erupt into a screaming fit.

Flash went off but I got a blurry baby.

And pictures Pato took of Kari, Ann, and I.  You don’t see a lot of full length pictures of me because well, I hate the way I look.  So, enjoy these.  Take 1.

Take 2

Take 3

Take 469.  Pato hand over the camera.  You stink at this.  LOL

So, I’m hoping I’m not going to jail.  Yep, you read that right.  I got my jury summons two weeks ago (I was first summoned in October but they rescheduled for July because of being pregnant, no one to care for the kids, etc.)  I filled it out.  Then I noticed that you could do it online.  I went to fill it out and found out that you can’t apply for an exemption/extension online.  For some reason, I completely forgot about it until last night when I saw it on my desk.  The summons is due 7 days after you receive it.  I started panicking.  Hurried up and went and mailed it.

I called this morning and left a message about it.  My ex-husband called his son who works for Dallas County Dispatch.  He said all the warrants go through there and that no there wasn’t a warrant out for my arrest.  Thank goodness!  That wouldn’t be cool. Can you bring your nursing baby to jail with you?  Or will they let you bring a pump?

Let’s hope I don’t have to find out and that I do get an extension for being a breastfeeding sole caregiver.

Have a great day!

I got to meet Kari and Ann!

Posted by Heather Manning On June - 14 - 2009

So, we decided to make a road trip to Kansas City because Pato’s aunt had some of his stuff that she brought up from Mexico, a year ago.  If you know my family, you’ll know that we are not on time anywhere and that it’s usually Pato’s fault.  Man did not get out of bed until 11.  Then the washer I had our clothes in was malfunctioning.  It kept filling up with water.  I could not figure out why it was taking so long.  I finally did and hand wrung out all of our clothes.  Threw them in the dryer for 99 minutes to dry them all the way.  Pato headed out to my parents to get a luggage topper.  Which ended up being too big for my car or something like that.  More time wasted.  Do you know what time we left here?  5:00 PM.   Nice.  It’s a 3 hour drive without kids.  We finally got to meet Kari (Relocated Dixie Girl) at 9:00 PM.  Ann (crzy4prple) ended up coming over to her house and I got to meet both of them.  They were both so wonderful!  I only got an hour or so with them and I wanted to cry when we left.  It was too much fun and so nice to talk to people who know what I’m talking about when I talk digital scrapbooking!  Kari already scrapped a layout and I love it.  Not because I look like I’ve been sitting in a car for hours upon hours and let us not forget I had a baby 3 months ago and that I nurse him.  ROFL  Didn’t noticed how endowed I was right now until I look at this through my own critical eyes.  But because of what Kari wrote and how much her friendship truly means to me.

Credits

Notice she didn’t use any of the pictures where I was strategically hiding Christiano in front of fat.  LOL  And the glasses, oh the glasses.  I can’t wear my contacts when driving, they bother me too much, so I wear my glasses on raod trips.  *sigh*  Kari, I still love you even after posting this at DST.  LOL

Can I say, I joke about needing to break out the diet pills but this girl seriously needs to get back to work.  I’ve lost all the baby weight, if that tells you where I was before.  And that stomach is not pretty after housing it’s fourth child.  Please tell me I’m not the only one who is hyper critical of themselves?  I hate the way I look.  Those curls poking out every which way don’t help much.  LOL

We got to Pato’s aunt’s house at 10:30 PM.  Stayed there until 1 in the morning.  She wanted to keep my children.  I told her I’d miss them a little.  Jordan was seriously going to stay.  Sorry dude, you got to suffer with the rest of us on the way home.

I spent almost the whole trip in the backseat with Christiano, which I noticed is a WHOLE lot more comfy when my sister is driving vs. Pato who thinks he has to lay down to drive which puts him in my lap pretty much.  I did climb in the front seat for 2 hours on the way home. I started to fall asleep and kind of opened my eyes, half asleep and it looked to me like a semi jack knifing in front of us.  I screamed and scared the pants off of Pato.  Turned out the car in front of us was just swerving a bit.  I stayed awake after that.

We finally folled in at about 5 in the morning.  I slept until 10 when I woke up with a headache that was pounding so bad I couldn’t lay there anymore.  The others slept until almost noon.

All in all the trip was totally worth it because I got to meet Kari and Ann.  I just wish it had lasted longer!!!

I’ll have pictures tomorrow or the next day.  I still have to edit and resize.
