Oh what a fun day yesterday!

**Updated** Check out my CT blog for (i)NSD specials and an awesome freebie!

First, update on the camera woes – Pato got me a CF card reader and it works perfectly.  YAY!  That made me happy.

Yesterday morning I had the IUD done.  My OB is so funny.  Always a comedian.  He walks in and said, how are you?  I said, kind of nervous.  He said, me too!  It’s my first one.  Ha ha!  You’re so funny!

Then he’s down there doing this, and he said, nurse, could you pass me the manual so I can make sure I’m putting this in right?  Always nice to have a comedian when you’re lying on the table naked from the waist down.

So, that wasn’t the most pleasant experience I’ve been through, but it’s done.

While I was doing that, Pato took the girls down to the walk in.  Kat has an ear infection.  Alyce has a cold.  Meds for Kat, Alyce is good.

Then it was time to go to get that cyst removed on my head.  I was so nervous.  I finally got called back after 45 minutes of waiting in the waiting room.  They cut off a little bit of hair.  The nurse put Novocain in, which is so pleasant to have injected into your skull.  Ok, it wasn’t really in my skull, but close enough.  Then she starts poking me with something sharp.  Can you feel this?  Yep.  More Novocain.  The Dr came in and cut it out.  That went well.  Then they start to cauterize it.  I just about jumped off of the table.  She said, you can feel that?  Ya think?  More novacaine.  They finished cauterizing it then stitched me shut with pretty blue stitches.  That way they can see the stitches through my hair when they go to remove them in 2 weeks.  My head is throbbing today where they did it.  Jordan thought it was the coolest thing.  He went with me because I had to take him down to the walk in next.  I looked at what they had taken out and that was just weird.  It looked like a big white ball with the texture of an eraser.  Gross.

They got the results of my biopsy back.  No cancer.  YAY!

Down to the walk in we went.  Jordan’s been having bathroom issues again for awhile and now, I get to get stool samples from my ten year old.  Joy above all joys.  I may get sick.  Yuck!

All in all, I have decided I will never schedule 2 semi-big procedures on the same day.  I had to though because it was Pato’s day off.  Last night Pato is like, can we?  It’s been almost 9 weeks.  Dude, I just had something put in and something else cut out.  Can you let me have one night to recoup from all of this.  *sigh*  He’s never been a patient man.

I was watching TV last night, after one of my beautiful children broke the door off of the entertainment center, causing us to now need to go look at new tv stands and on the news they said there are 2 cases of the swine flu here in Iowa.  They are expecting them to be confirmed by the CDC today.  Governor Culver will be issuing an emergency health declaration.  One of the cases was here where I live and another was in eastern Iowa.  I’ve decided I’m not taking the 2 littlest ones out unless necessary.  Oh, then I got a call from my SIL this morning.  One of the ladies that has the swine flu works with a lady who goes to my ex-SIL to get her hair done.  She was around that lady, who then went to get her hair done by my ex-SIL, who then went to my brother’s birthday party where we all were possibly exposed.  *crossing fingers we weren’t*  My mom said I can worry about it if I want, but she’s not going to.  I’m a mom of a 2 month old, a 2 year old, a 5 year old, and a 10 year old.  It’s my job to worry.  Everyone has been under strict instructions to step up the hand washing more than normal.  LOL

Alright, Christiano is fussing, I’m going to say goodbye for now.  Have a great day!

A little jealous

Posted by Heather Manning On April - 30 - 2009

One of my CT members just got back from one the fabulous Orlando vacations that she has taken recently.  She’s a Mickey addict.  LOL  I’m so glad you’re back Kari!  It’s kind of lonely around here without you!  Next time could you guys sneak me in a suitcase so I can go to Walt Disney World too?  Please?  I haven’t been since I was 17.

Sea World

Posted by Heather Manning On April - 30 - 2009

Who has been there? It’s my favorite place to go. I LOVE dolphins. The last time we were there was when Jordan was 3 months old. My brother was graduating from marines boot camp and there were no San Diego hotels available. We stayed in Tijuana and then trekked over the border daily. That in itself was a memorable journey every day.

The only down part to the dolphin/whale shows is the smelling like fish all day from being splashed part. That never is pleasant. Who wants to smell like fish?

Fabulous Letter

Posted by Heather Manning On April - 30 - 2009

I need to post about this in full, but have I told you Jordan is wonderfully smart?  I am so proud of him!  I’ll post about it in detail later, but I got a wonderful letter from his school that MAEDe made my day.  His hard work is paying off, but he’s not so excited about it.  He thinks it’ll be more work.

Mickey Time

Posted by Heather Manning On April - 29 - 2009

My kids have been asking about going to Walt Disney World.  It seems like that’s on everyone’s mind lately.  A few people at DST have gone.  I don’t know if my kids are seeing commercials and that’s why they are bring it up?  I told them I’d start saving the money I make myself so Pato doesn’t have to try to swing it, and that if I can do it, we’ll take a vacation to Orlando, maybe stay at Westgate.  Anyone know if that’s a good hotel?  I can’t afford to stay at one of the Disney ones if we’d actually like to eat while we are there.  ROFL

Camera woes

Posted by Heather Manning On April - 27 - 2009

Well, not so much my camera, but the ports that I plug my camera cord into on my computer. I thought they were USB ports in the front, but it turns out their not. One of my children, who shall remain nameless, only because I don’t know which one did it, pushed all the prongs in on these 2 ports on the front of my computer. There are 4 little metal prongs, completely smashed flat. No hope of plugging my camera in. I asked Pato to buy me an adaptor so that I could turn my USB ports in back into whatever these ports are, but he brought me home a USB hub. It doesn’t have this port that I need on it. I’m getting rather frustrated. He’s off this morning to find me a CF card reader so that I can just plug that into one of the USB ports on the back and pull my pictures from that. I feel a little lost not being able to do anything with my pictures on my camera. Does that show a true digiscrapper, when you feel panic because you can’t upload your pictures? I’m there.

I’m counting Jordan down right now. Child would not get out of the shower. He has 2 minutes until the bus gets here and he’s not dressed yet. I went in and knocked on the bathroom door I don’t know how many times telling him to get out until I finally unbent a hanger so I could unlock it and yell at him to get his butt out. 1 minute and he still doesn’t have shirt or shoes on. I’m really hoping the bus is late today. It would be my luck this would be the one day the bus would be on time and Pato has my van right now taking Kat to school. For some reason I don’t have a key to his car so I couldn’t take him to school if I wanted to. Why is he so slow in the morning???

Awhile ago, I posted a link to The Story of a Princess and Her Hair. I revisited that site this morning because Kat’s hair is longer now, but I still don’t think it’s long enough to do all of those beautiful hair styles. It’s between her shoulders and the middle of her back now. I wish she had enough hair to do this braided pretzel. I did do one fishbone braid this morning, which she immediately wanted to take out. I thought it looked so cool. I think there was a comment about being grounded from everything if that braid was not in her hair when she got home after school. I wouldn’t really do it, but come on, give me something here. She’s one who just wants to wear her hair down all the time and it drives me crazy because I want to play with her hair and make it all pretty. I’m a girly girl, Kat – not so much. She does love pink and she likes to wear skirts, but she’d rather be running around in her underwear. *sigh* Someday Alyce will have hair and maybe she’ll let me play with it. She has hair now, but it’s very thin and there’s not a lot I can do with it yet. It’s all these different lengths and I don’t want to take her to have it cut even because then it’s going to be really short and I won’t even get a piggy in it.

Alright, Jordan made it out to the bus as they were pulling around the corner. YAY!

Everyone got their shopping plan in place for this weekend? I’ve got to get everything uploaded, but I know where I’ll be stopping. I must get Tracy Ann’s new lucky dip. I’ll hit Vera Lim’s to see what she has going on. I’ll probably go over to Digital-Crea to see if they have specials. Then I’ll stop by and see what Jofia has because I’ve long neglected my Jofia folder. And she’s my all-time favorite. Then I’ll just cruise the ads to see what is on sale that I can’t live without. I took a peak at NDISB and lots of our designers are having awesome sales! I love our big holidays. I usually buy enough to keep me going until the next one.

If you need to keep track of the sales, there is a master list going now at DST.

That’s it from me! I’m going to go work on a couple more products and then I’ll be good to go! Have a great day!

My Skin Appointment

Posted by Heather Manning On April - 24 - 2009

That sounds lovely doesn’t it? LOL

Wednesday I went to the dermatologist. If you saw my facebook status, you’d know I wasn’t enjoying myself from the get-go. The waiting room was huge and packed. I took one of 2 chairs left and then another older lady took the last chair beside me.

She proceeded to fill out her paperwork, while chomping on gum like she was chewing on cud. That was annoying. Then she procees to whisper to herself as she reads the paperwork AND as she fills out her answers. Ps ps ps ps ps, chomp chomp chomp chomp, ps ps ps ps ps. I was looking around the room for a pencil to jab in my ears so that I couldn’t hear anymore.

I swear, I’m a nice person. But there is only so much I can take even. She is actually lucky I’m a nice person. As she’s whispering her answers to herself, she gave out her social security number. Very lucky I’m not an unscrupulous.

They called me back and they asked if I wanted a whole skin check. I said, why not? I had wanted them to check a couple of spots anyway. The one that really worried me the most turned out to be a spot that needed biopsied.

When I was 17, my cousin was getting married in Pensacola, FL. We traveled down and on the last day in Pensacoloa we went to the ocean (Gulf of Mexico). I was in the water thirty minutes. That’s it. Burns on my shoulders so bad. I was all blistered up, couldn’t wear a bra for a week, could barely wear shirts that touched my shoulders. It was horrible. Then we traveled on to Orlando using some economy hotels promotions my parents had gotten until they bought a time share and we moved there, but that’s a whole different story.

Back to the shoulders. I pretty much immediately had light sun spots covering my shoulders. As I’ve gotten older they’ve gotten a little darker. One spot in particular is almost black. That’s the part that had to be cut off. Fun. Poke and a burn, poke and a burn. Here’s the poke – burn burn burn burn. Ya think??? My lord. The results on that should be back in a week. Keep your fingers crossed for me, I’m kind of nervous.

Then on to those little cysts in the corners of my eyes. They are called hydrocysts, I guess. And no one knows why I keep getting them. No pain killer for those. Just sliced open. That brought some tears to the eyes. Then she asked me if I wanted her to do some work on my face. I’ve got some bumps – they are kind of like pimples, but not red and they never go away. They showed up when I was pregnant with Christiano. So, she started ripping those open. Ok, it wasn’t really a rip, but this tool, that poked and cut them open. I now know why my best friend in high school was almost crying every time she had to go to the dermatologist. They are sadists! (No offense to my CT member Diana who is one and who has the most beautiful skin I have ever seen in my life.) By the time I left there, I wanted to cry. And I get to go back! I am so lucky.

I actually have another cyst on my head above my ear. Thank God for hair. It is about 1/2 an inch in diameter and rock hard. That one requires a little bit more work. So, I have an appointment next Wednesday. They promised me I’d only lose a few strands of hair. Please tell me how they are going to numb an area that has no fat whatsoever? I mean, it’s tissue covering your skull and that’s it. They’re going to hurt me again right?

Speaking of hair. I noticed I had some grey hairs popping back in. I’m 34. Shouldn’t be getting these, right? That’s what I keep telling myself. I’ve actually been getting them since my early 20′s. My grandpa was completely grey before his mid-twenties and I think he passed that on to me. Thanks! I had Pato pick me up a box of hair color – which he didn’t get the right one. I wanted more red then he grabbed, but ok, we’ll deal. Colored it last night. After it dried, I went in to brush my teeth, had the light on, look in the mirror – the grey is still there! GRRRR! I don’t have any splotches, like I missed any, it’s all evenly colored, except for those strands of silver on top. *sigh* That’s the first time I have not covered my grey with hair color and the last time I use Nice & Easy, thank you. How long do you have to wait until you can recolor?

Tonight we’re heading over to my brother’s for a barb-b-que. Yesterday was his – hold, on I have to figure it out, 34 minus 6 – 28th birthday. He’s getting a pony keg. We women feel so lucky that we can be the designated drivers for all the guys in my family who tend to overindulge when it comes to kegs. My dad, both my brothers, Pato. It’s a good thing that their neighbor/landlord is going out of town (Josh lives in a more rural area). My dad and my brother Steve tend to get a little loud when they drink. My dad tends to praise the Lord really loud. That has to be sacrilegious, I keep waiting for the bolt of lightening. It never comes though, maybe he doesn’t care that you’re drunk when you praise him, as long as you do?

Have a great day! I’ve got to get to work on some more NSD stuff. I’ve got 2 grab bags (nope, one is not commercial use, you’ll have to see what I have up my sleeves) and the freebie done. I want to get some more done since I haven’t had a chance to really design since Christiano was born.

ETA – I just got a wonderful email from Chriscrap!  I won her new kit Raconte moi une histoire.  It’s so darn cute!

Thank you so much!  Digital-Crea is like my new favorite store!  Those ladies over there are so talented!

Yikes!

Posted by Heather Manning On April - 24 - 2009

My kids grow to fast I have decided.  Everyone needs new clothes for summer.  I think I should start buying wholesale clothing. Jordan has 3 pairs of shorts that fit him well.  Katiana has gotten so tall her shorts are way too short.  You could start singing that Nair commercial to her (we wear short shorts!).  They still fit around, but I’m not sending my 5 year old out looking like a mini-Britney Spears.  I need to figure out where Kat’s size 3 shorts went so Alyce has some clothes to wear this summer and Christiano needs some summer clothes too.  Why do they all need everything at the same time?  Can’t they space out growth spurts so I don’t go broke updating their wardrobes?
