Pato supports my Twilight obsession

Posted by Heather Manning On March - 30 - 2009

I have to post the sweet things that Pato did for me recently.

(Sick of people obsessing about Twilight, skip this post. LOL)

So, last summer I didn’t get the whole fascination with the Twilight series. I should have known myself better than that. Anything that revolves around fantasy – vamps, werewolves, etc, I love to read it. I was at the Half Price Book Store and low and behold there was a copy of Twilight staring me in the face. I grabbed it and read it all in one day. Then I started going through withdrawal. I had to read the rest of the series. I ordered the other books off of half.com. (Highly recommended for your book needs, BTW.) Read those in a day each then loaned them to my mom (who has now been bit by the Twibug). Then I read the copy of Midnight Sun that Stephenie released on her site after it has been pirated.

The day the DVD was coming out I told Pato I wanted him to go to Walmart to get it for me at midnight. Now, remember I had a baby 5 weeks ago. He has needs, like to nurse any time his eyes are open. LOL Pato got to Walmart at 11:35 and sent me a text saying it was absolutely crazy, no way was he waiting in line. I said, please? Then he sent another one at 6 til and said, I’m leaving, there’s too many people. I said, stay put! It goes on sale in 6 minutes. So, he did and I got my DVD. That’s love. LOL

A few days later he was running late and he came home with the Twilight soundtrack for me – that and brownies. Wasn’t that sweet? My favorite tracks on it are 10 – 12. I think they are Christiano’s too. LOL He normally screams in the car seat, but when those songs are on he calms down and goes to sleep.

10 is Never Think by Robert Pattinson

11 is Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron & Wine

12 is Bella’s Lullaby by Carter Burwell

Awesome songs, highly recommend the soundtrack!

Speaking of Robert Pattinson, if you want to look at some pretty eye candy (Edward) go take a peak at Megs’ (Flergs) blog. She outdid herself on that skin.

I’m kind of irritated with Jordan though. He won’t watch it. I said, but the guy who plays Edward is the guy who played Cedric in The Order Of The Phoenix. He’s a Harry Potter nut. Can’t wait for the next movie, upset when they pushed back the release date. Nope, doesn’t matter. I think cuz mom thinks it’s cool, it ain’t cool no more. Little poo.

Now I’m officially obsessed. I cannot wait for New Moon to come out. I’ll actually go see that one in the theater. My mom and I have a date made in advance. LOL (My mama even thinks Edward is yummy. LOL)

If I didn’t think Pato would kill me, I’d buy this vexel image Martha did of Edward to hang over the bed. LOL He may be sweet and supportive, but I think that would push him too far. LOL

Now I’m on Twitter (I was there before actually.) following all these Twilight tweeters. Gotta get my news man. I feel like I’m 14 again getting my New Kids fix. Wait, that was just last summer when they released their new album. Sorry, I was 33. ROFL

I just had to share the sweet things Pato did just because. It’s not the big things that make a difference (jewelry, etc.) It’s the little things, like knowing I wanted the Twilight CD without me saying it and going and getting it for me.

He doesn’t do those sweet things very often, so I’ll cherish it when he does.

Have a great day!

ETA – Cutie Booty Cakes is having a Twilight giveaway on her blog. I shouldn’t tell you should I? That will reduce my chances of winning. Oh well, I’m nice like that. ROFL

Mesothelioma cancer, this is supposed to be a helpful site.  (words are linked)

My sister in law lost her mom to either this, or something similar to this.  She had cancer from working at a tire plant here for years where asbestos was present.  She passed away not long before Taylor (my neice) was born.  Shelley was very pregnant at her funeral. It broke my heart. I thought I would pass along the link.

One shoe, Two Shoe – Red Sh- Maybe Not -

Posted by Heather Manning On March - 28 - 2009

Well, there were 2 shoes.  Pato took the kids a week ago yesterday to buy new soccer cleats.  Simple enough.

Jordan went to put on his shoes for practice the other day and said, mom, it’s the same shoe.  I said, of course it’s the same shoe.  Why would you want shoes that didn’t match?  He said, NO!  They are both for the right foot.  WHAT?  Seriously?  Pato, you only had him try on one shoe?

This was 15 minutes before we had to leave for soccer.  At that point, I was getting the baby in his car seat, the girls in their coats.  I have to be at the car door at least 5 minutes before we have to leave in order to get the girls in their car seats and belted, Christiano’s car seat in, etc etc.  I told him to put on his tennis shoes and deal with it.  Then I get everyone in the car, drive to the garage to get Jordan’s soccer ball, and what do you know?  All the balls are flat as pancakes.  We’re a soccer playing family.  There were at least 6 balls in the garage in various shapes, sizes, colors.  Not one had air in it.  I’m not sure how far away you could hear my frustration, but I’m pretty sure you could hear me a ways a way.

Now, Alyce broke our air pump tip off, so filling it up at home was out of the question.  I had no idea where the needles were to take the ball up to the gas station and fill up.  I said to Jordan, why didn’t you tell dad that your ball was flat?  He said, I did – 3 times.  So, chalk another notch up on the um, crap list, for Pato.  I called him, he forgot.  Thanks dude.

Jordan went to soccer without a ball, without cleats, and I felt like a horrible mother.  But, what do you do?  I tried out my wrap at practice that Blythe and Kari gave me as a baby gift.  It rocked.  I’ve had a ring sling for the last 2 kids, but I really wanted the flexibility of a wrap.  He didn’t get to use it long though.  I had him wrapped in a blanket, then in the sling, then covered with another blanket, but it was 45 degrees out.  I was worried it was too cold. So, I loaded the 3 youngest in the car and we came home for 30 minutes, then went and picked up Jordan.  Not one picture taken of his first practice of the year.

I have not had my camera out enough since Christiano was born.  I feel like I don’t have time to breathe anymore let alone stop to take pictures of me not having time to breathe.  I need to though.  I haven’t scrapped one page of him yet.  *sigh*  Someday he will realize that just because his eyes are open that does not mean that he has to have a boob in his mouth.  Heck, sometimes he thinks just because he is alive and well he needs to have a boob in his mouth, eyes don’t even have to be open.

Can I give some love to Kristine?  She totally got the point of my post yesterday.  She so gets me period.  You are my girl.

Hope she doesn’t mind me posting her comment in my post but, I am.

Have a great day and smack Pato upside the head for me….parenting is an EQUAL thing…not a thing you can start when you have had enough rest….

friggin’ men..

So, tell me why Pato didn’t get it?  I tried talking to him about it last night, but he just shrugged.

Sending some love over to Kim too!  She’s got a new grab bag out!  I haven’t unzipped it yet, but her stuff is always fabulous!  I highly suggest you check it out!  Just ran over and looked at her blog and the bag is open over there w/a freebie!

One more person to send love to, my good friend and CT member Hollie lost her grandmother.  You’re in my thoughts and prayers.  I know how heartbreaking that is.  (((hugs)))

Someone is driving me crazy

Posted by Heather Manning On March - 27 - 2009

*looking over at Pato* His day off.  He is the hardest person to wake up.  I told him if something happened to me he’d be  screwed.  He cannot get up without someone standing over him yelling his name for like 15 minutes – and even then, you can’t walk away or he’ll go back to sleep.  HUGE pet peeve of mine.

I’m the type, the alarm goes off, the baby cries, one of the kids say my name, I am up out of that bed likes a shot.  It’s bad though, the littlest noises wake me up and I have trouble going back to sleep.  A happy medium would be nice.

This morning I was up way before the alarm went off because Christiano was begging to be fed.  At 6:30 the alarm goes off.  I went in and asked him to get up.  After about 10 minutes he gets up.  I said, can you get the kids clothes (this is while I’m nursing, standing at the foot of the bed.) and get them in the shower.  He comes out here to look through a laundry basket of clothes that need put away, I turn my back, he went back to bed.  The kids weren’t up.  I went back in, still with a baby attached to me, 7:00 he finally gets up.  Kat doesn’t get a shower.  Jordan got to take the bus because he wasn’t even close to ready when Pato had to leave with Kat.

Pato gets back home, goes BACK to bed.  Now mind you, he slept from 2 until 7 at this point.  I went to bed at 1 and got up every 20-30 minutes with a baby that would not stay asleep.  Thought I was going to pass out for a bit.  10:45 rolls around, I go in and say, can you go get Kat from school.  Christian was ready to eat again.  He nods yes.  I stood there until 11 trying to get him out of bed.  He finally does, comes out to the couch, sits down, lays his head against the back, GOES TO SLEEP.  Wouldn’t get up to get Kat until 11:15.  So flipping frustrating.  This is what happens every day when he has to get up.  Even for work.  The alarm goes off, and goes off, and off some more.  I can let it go on for 20 minutes and he’ll sleep right through it.  I’d let him suffer the consequences of his own not getting out of bed (feels like I’m talking about one of my own kids.) but they have a rule at work, if you’re late you get suspended for 15 days.  They got tired of the guys showing up 20-30 minutes late.  Then I have to go in and do everything short of pouring water on his head to get him up.

I don’t understand it.  The baby can be laying in his arms crying, right by his head, (this doesn’t happen at night, believe me, he’s too heavy of a sleeper for me to think about letting him do that when I’m not awake.) he won’t even notice.  Sleeps right through it.  The kids can be literally jumping on him.  He’ll yell at them to stop it, go right back to sleep.  Must be nice to behave like a teenager on summer vacation when it comes to sleep.  Really makes me mad – could be cuz I’m a tad bit jealous that someone is getting WAY more sleep than I do, or because I have to be the one counted on to get up with crying kids – hungry, nightmares, sick, he wouldn’t hear them if they came to him.  They all know to come to mommy when they need something at night.

Does my lack of sleep make me crave sugar?  Not just sugar, chocolate brownies.  I would live on them if I could.  When I was pregnant I was craving salty things, now it is chocolate brownies.  Combo of being tired and nursing that makes me want them so bad?  An appetite suppressant wouldn’t help.  I’m not hungry.  Just want chocolate.  I need help.  LOL

Alyce has been talking up a storm lately.  3 months ago she barely said a word.  Now she’s talking in long sentences.  I told her not to rock the bouncy the other day.  She said, "I wanna a-rock the baby.  Chrishan (to Christian as she leans on the bouncy.), I rocka you."  (Everything has an a or an uh in front of it.  LOL)

I told Katiana to turn off the TV and pick up the living room.  Kat didn’t.  I told Alyce.  Kat told her no!  Alyce said, "No, mama a-say a-turn-a off the tv.  I turn-a off."

She’s awfully cute let me tell you.  Except when she’s screaming bloody murder cuz she doesn’t get her way.

Alright, I think I have 2 diapers that need changing, the little one’s doesn’t smell so pleasant and the big one just got up – it’s hanging to her knees.  LOL

Have a great day!

I think everyone

Posted by Heather Manning On March - 27 - 2009

in our house had jaundice.  Ok, not really, but the new mandatory everyone had to have them in our apartment compact fluorescent light bulbs make it look like we are.  I really wish they’d fix the color the lighting lets off before the government has us all mandatorily using those.  I love the money savings – we have really seen a difference on our electric bill.  I hate putting on my make up in the morning to it.  I think I’ll do it in front of the sliding glass door for the natural light there.

If you were interested in ChaCha

Posted by Heather Manning On March - 25 - 2009

Or, if you’ve never heard of it before, but are looking for a legitimate way to make $$ from home, look at ChaCha.

I’ve been doing it since October, and no, I’m not getting rich.  It’s not like that at all.  It is a legitimate work from home company.  The position open right now is SMS guide, which is what I do.  People text questions into ChaCha.  Anything at all they want to know, from homework questions to directions to movie times to song lyrics to teenagers trying to shock you with their questions.  (Try it out – text 242242 or call 1-800-224-2242 – ask your question, you’ll get an answer.)  ChaCha is a free service for the users.  What the SMS guide does is find those answers.  I have been paying for all the holidays around here (including Christmas) since I started and had extra $$ to put gas in my car, go out to eat, do those little things that we couldn’t do before because $$ was tight.  If you think you might like to do it, you can apply here with ChaCha.  Use heather1974 at gmail dot com as your referral.  I really want to have a team.  Everyone has a team.  LOL  When you are approved, email me and I’ll help you with what I know to be useful when working.

Yep, I still design, but this was so good for me when I was at the end of my pregnancy, couldn’t sit at the desk top, couldn’t design, and now it’s awesome when I’m nursing.  Hurry though because ChaCha opens the hiring up and closes it down quickly.  They don’t leave it open forever.

Let’s see, other fun things I’ve found in my search across the web.

SwagBucks – is awesome, especially if you’re a ChaCha guide.  You’re searching anyway, might as well earn something while you’re at it.  I’m saving up for enough Amazon gift certificates to get the Kindle 2.  I can’t bring myself to spend the cash on it.  LOL

Instant Cash Sweepstakes – I LOVE this.  Every few hours you can take little surveys.  With each survey you either get so many tickets into a weekly cash drawing or you can win cash.  Usually the survey prizes aren’t a lot of cash, but it adds up.  I’ve cashed out twice.  So it’s legit.

ooooh. I almost forgot!  Artscow is having a special right now,  16″ x 20″ canvas poster at only $16.99/each with free shipping. I LOVE them.  I’ve gotten my photo books, prints, and a watch from them.  All great color/quality.  I like them better than Shutterfly actually when it comes to color.  They’ve started making photo quilts and I kind of want one.  Ok, I really want one.

I think that’s all that fun stuff today.  Other than that I’m just nursing the baby, who thinks he has to nurse every time his eyes are open, and taking care of my other 3.  I did get a new product in the store for PSP users.

For all of my fellow PSP scrappers who like to extract. This script will get rid of those tiny jaggeds for you (that you get when you blow up to 100% or if you forget to check anti-alias )
Smooth It Out PSP Script – for scrappers (@digiscrapping.net)
or grab it @ NDISB

You’d think I’d have some new pictures of the baby wouldn’t you?  Yeah, that’s my goal today.  Get some pictures taken of the kids together.  LOL

Can I make an observation?  Our apartment showed us a Green Study compact fluorescent light bulbs and how much money they save.  They switched the light bulbs out in every apartment.  Now, I hate the lighting, we all look like we have jaundice, but the last 2 months our electric bill has gone down $10+ dollars.  That’s kinda nifty.  Who knew light bulbs could save so much money?  Not sure I like the jaundice look on me though.  LOL
Have a great day!

Isn’t he the cutest?

Posted by Heather Manning On March - 19 - 2009

Even with it being a cell phone picture?  LOL  I always have my cell phone in my pocket.  Not so with my camera.  Pato sat Christiano up last night and I had to snap one.

christiansitting

Those li’l cheeks, you just want to kiss them all day long.  Tends to tick him off if you do it too much though.

Can you believe he is 3 1/2 weeks old already?  I can’t.  He’s going to grow too fast just like the others did isn’t he?

Have I posted soccer season is starting?  I think I did, but we’ll say it again.  LOL First practices are on the 24 for Katiana and the 26 for Jordan and the first game is April 4 for Jordan.  I think Kat has kinderkicks practice that day.  Pato is trying to switch Friday as his day off to Saturday so he can help get them to games at least.  I’m really nervous because so far Christian HATES his car seat.  And so it is for Pato’s children.  Jordan loved his, he’d go straight to sleep.  Kat and Alyce started screaming as soon as you put them in it and didn’t stop til they were taken out. Christian is following in their footsteps nicely.  *sigh*  Can’t go far.  We’re supposed to go to Ohio (Pato’s mom is coming up) in July and I’m really hoping he gets over this by then or it will be a long trip.

I remember when Alyce was 4 months old we went to the Omaha Zoo in NE – a 1 1/2 hr drive or so.  Took us 3 hours to get there because I kept making Pato stop.  We even had a cop turn on his lights and pull into the rest area with us to see why he jerked the wheel over so quickly.  He came up to the car, heard her screaming and said, oh, I was just checking to see why you jerked over like that, be more careful, carry on.  LOL

Pato took our rental history to a bank yesterday to see if we can be approved for a loan for a house.  I’m not going to hold my breath with the banks being stingy like they are, but it would be so nice.  The only thing is they told him a $120,000 house would be like $800/month, so we’d have to go lower than that because our rent is $740 and we don’t pay heat, water, garbage, property taxes.  We need to take all of that into account.  Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Have a wonderful day!

Also, try Swag Bucks – if you search already, you might as well get something for it.  I’ve been using it and am saving up to get the Kindle 2 on Amazon with my Swag Bucks.  I can’t bring myself to put out the cash for it, but I have no problem spending these little GCs.
