Let’s start this with saying, it’s a short story. LOL I had no intention of going home.
So, it was midnight and I was on the bed on all 4′s with pillows under my stomach. And Pato comes in and said, just pressure or contractions? I said pressure. He started timing and it went from 20 minutes to 15 to 7 very quickly. He said, don’t you think they are contractions, call the doctor. I said, no. I’m not going until I know for sure. They go down to 5 minutes. He said, call. I said, no, let’s time a few more. Down to 3 minutes…ok, maybe it’s time to go. He gets the kids up and dressed. At this point, I barely could walk to the car, but we made it.
Got to the hospital at about 3:45 a.m. I was dilated almost to 6 at that point. They hurried up and admitted me, got me in the room, started the IV dripping fast so I could have an epidural quickly. Gave me something through the IV for pain.
The anesthesia guy came in, gave me the epidural, the nurse checked me, oops, did you feel that? Yep, she broke my water. I was at 7. Another 20 minutes passed and I said, I can’t do this. The pressure is horrible. She checked, I was at 9. Made me wait though I wanted to push horribly, another 10 minutes, checked me, I was at 10. Pushed 5-6 times Pato said and out he came.
Did I leave out the parts where my mom was trying to get me to breathe, and I looked at her and said I don’t want to. And when I kept saying, I can’t do this, I can’t do it anymore, and the nurse said, Heather, you have to do this. LOL That was before pushing, when the epidural was working for the stomach and legs, but not the pressure of his head moving down the canal.
Anyway, Christiano Alberto was born on 2/23/09, exactly 10 years to the day after his big brother Jordan, at 6:44 a.m. – yep, I was at the hospital a total of 3 hours before I had him. Good thing I didn’t wait much longer. LOL
He was 8 lbs 15 oz and 21 inches long. He nurses like a pro already. First kid I have had that figured it out from the first suck. LOL
Here’s a few pics that we took of him –
The proud big brother celebrating his birthday that evening, but we forgot the matches, so he pretended. LOL
Then, his hospital picture is here –
