A Photo Extravaganza

Posted by Heather Manning On October - 31 - 2008

Let’s start out with the girls playing in the leaves yesterday!

Then last night was trick or treating for us.  Here’s my little trick or treaters:

Snow White

So he was supposed to be a ninja.  But when he was putting on his costumer, him and Pato were goofing around and ripped out the butt of it.  So not happy. So, threw on his Des Menace shirt and his soccer stuff and went as a member of the Menace.

My little unicorn

Eating her bag.  LOL

The best picture of the 3 of them together.  LOL

All in all it was lots of fun.  Everyone who had manners used them.  (Meaning, Alyce didn’t really say thank you, since she can’t say it yet.  LOL)

Pato went with us which was a HUGE help.  He ended up taking Alyce up to the houses and I stood with the wagon down on the sidewalk.  After 2 hours of trick or treating, seeing as my bladder is the size of a pea right now, I ditched them and ran home (literally) to go to the bathroom.  I think my muscles are shot with the 4th pregnancy, because I thought he was going to fall out of there last night there was so much pressure at the bottom of my stomach.

At the end Jordan was complaining about his feet hurting and I said, until you’re pregnant, I don’t want to hear you complaining.  LOL

I didn’t talk to anyone yesterday, but the night before Jordan’s dad told me he thought they were moving him out of the ICU yesterday.  Here’s hoping!

Today I have parent teacher conferences for Katiana.  Who knew that did that in preschool?  LOL

I found a cool contest for us to play with!

It is the shopper’s confessions contest!   They are giving away $33,000 in prizes.  And at this time of year when most of us are getting ready to holiday shop, who couldn’t use that?  You can give your confession via text, photo, or video.  I should give some of my confessions last year about online shopping.  I have a few.  My credit card bills told the story.  LOL  If you sign up for the contest, make sure you use my blog as who referred you to it!  http://digiscrapping.net/blog.  What are you waiting for?  Go check out the contest!

One more thing I’ve been having fun with!  I signed up with ChaCha and was approved as a guide!  Another way to bring in some extra cash.  People send in questions via text.  ChaCha sends out the questions to the guides.  We find the answer and send them on there way.  It’s addicting!  You get a lot of questions about locations, jokes, homework, there are some odd ones thrown in there, but you work around them.  I’ve been chacha-ing for the last 2 days and have had so much fun!  You should check it out!  And if you sign up, make sure you use my email address so you are on my team!  heather1974 at gmail dot com.  We could have fun being on the same team!  Check it out anyways!  I think my sister is going to do it with me too.

Anything else?  ooooh, tomorrow is digiscrapping day!  How could I forget!  I’ll give you guys a sneak peak of what’s going on!

Here is the new kit that will be going into the store tomorrow!  It’s going to be $1.95 for this weekend only!

And tomorrow and Sunday ONLY you can get these for free!  Then they will go up to regular price.

So make sure you hit the store tomorrow!  On top of that stuff the whole store is going to be on sale for 50% off!  PLUS every 10th order will get a $5 GC to the store!  And the 100th order will get a $20 GC to the store!

That’s all from me!  (I know, it’s enough isn’t it?  LOL)  Have a great day!

Today is the last day to vote for me in the Wacom Pen Scrapper’s Contest!  Thank you!!!

What a Horrible Day Yesterday. :o(

Posted by Heather Manning On October - 29 - 2008

First, the good news.  Pato got home on Sunday.  Thank goodness because I was able to go without the girls yesterday, something I couldn’t have done at all if he hadn’t been home.

I got a call yesterday morning at 7 from my ex-husband’s son.  That in itself had me worried because Nick never calls me.  We get along since the divorce, but it’s not like we are good friends who just call to chat.

Jordan’s dad has been having problems with his stomach for about 3 weeks now.  He had a cat scan done and they saw an abscess.  At first they scheduled surgery to remove it.  Then they decided it was diverticulitis (sp?).  He was in the hospital for a few days on antibiotics.  They did another cat scan after that and decided the abscess was shrinking a little but they wanted to check it more thoroughly.   So Monday they did an endoscopy (sp?).  After the endoscopy, his blood pressure dropped to 60/30.  They brought it back up and sent him home.  That’s when it got scary.

Nick came downstairs, and his dad was in the recliner (as usual).  He was having a seizure.  He’s not epileptic.  (We’ve been through many seizures.  His other son, Mike, has many medical problems and he is epileptic on top of everything else.  He has to wear a helmet because he has so many bad seizures.  So, Nick knew what he was seeing.)  Nick called his grandma over.  She brought the blood pressure cuff.  She couldn’t get a blood pressure reading.  Nick is a fire fighter and a first responder, and works for the sheriff’s office as a dispatcher.    He went straight to people he knew could help.  One of the paramedics got there and they couldn’t get a blood pressure either.  Off to the hospital their dad went.

I’m kind of upset at this point because no one called me.  Jordan’s dad was close to dying, and would have if Nick wouldn’t have been there.  And no one called me to have me take Jordan up, just in case.

When they got to the hospital, they found that his spleen had ruptured……awhile ago.  When they opened him up he was full of blood.  They had to completely remove his spleen and gave him 4 1/2 pints of blood.  Then it was just touch and go.

I took Kat to school.  Came back, got Jordan and off we went to the ICU.  I stopped at the nurse’s desk right outside of his dad’s room.  I asked her if there was anything Jordan should know before he went in to prepare him for what he was going to see.  She told him that there were lots of tubes everywhere, plus he was on a ventilator to help him breathe.  He was also heavily sedated.  We went in.  You guys, my heart has broke my my son many times, but nothing like yesterday.  Jordan went in, sat by his dad, and tried so hard not to cry.  But tears just kept rolling down his cheeks.  His dad woke up and of course he couldn’t talk.  So, I tried to reassure Jordan that dad was going to be ok, that he was where he needed to be, that all those tubes were scary looking but that they were helping his dad get better.  His dad just nodded and nodded in agreement with me, trying his best to ease Jordan’s fears.  Jordan just kept saying, I hate to see my dad like this.  He doesn’t deserve it.  Why do bad things happen to good people mom?  Honey, it seems like that’s who bad things usually happen to, but it’s just part of our trials in life and it makes us stronger.  He sat there for a couple of hours holding his dad’s hand.

Then Pato calls me.  His car won’t start.  (Don’t ask me why the battery was dead.)  I have to pick up Kat from preschool.  Which means, we have to leave now.  Jordan was so upset.  He didn’t want to leave his dad.  He wanted to stay.  He finally came with me on the promise that I would get someone else to take him back down to see his dad later.   Pato had to work, and I couldn’t take the girls down to the ICU.  First I called Jordan’s brother.  I talked to his wife to see when they were going down.  She said not until after 6 when she got off work.  I asked when their grandma was going down.  She wasn’t sure and I didn’t want to call and wake her up because she had been at the hospital all night.  So, I called my mom.  She was at an eye appointment with Abby watching the baby, but after she had Saturn repair her tire, she would take Jordan down.

I worried about him the whole time he was gone.   But he came back in such better spirits.  My mom said she thought Jordan was kind of used to the tubes by the time he went back.  And he sat there with his 2 grandmas and held his dad’s hand.  Then they came in to remove the ventilator.  Jordan wouldn’t leave the room.  He stood right up there with the nurse, asking questions, while they took the ventilator out.  (Mom said by the time he was ready to leave, he was just a wealth of information regarding what everything was and his dad’s condition.)

I just about cried when mom said that Jordan said, I love you dad (which he said a lot that morning too.) and his dad said, I love you buddy.  I’m really hoping after all of this that he can see how much Jordan loves him and maybe they can have a fresh start with his dad really putting forth an effort with Jordan.

His mom told my mom that he hasn’t drank since all of these stomach problems started.  Which I think would really help their relationship if he could keep it up.  (That’s the reason I left him – the alcohol and the abuse that went with it.)  I just want Jordan to be happy, and to not hurt like he does when his dad calls and says today just isn’t going to work out to pick him up.  That little boy loves his dad.  I’ve kind of kept him sheltered from the reason that we divorced.  He knows his dad is an alcoholic.  And he knows that that is a sickness that is very hard to control.  He doesn’t know about the domestic assault that required his dad to go to 6 months of domestic assault classes before they deferred his charges.  And I’d rather he not know if he doesn’t have to.  I have always told his dad that I really hope that he changes before Jordan realizes everything that is going on.  Why he doesn’t come get him like he should, etc.  No one wants their kids illusion of their parents to be shattered.  Jordan is now old enough, he knows what is going on in most cases, but there is still time for his dad to repair that if he looks at what has happened as an opportunity to fix things.  To make them right.  For my son’s sake and for his sake, I really hope he does.  If he doesn’t, he’ll miss out on a relationship with a beautiful boy.

On that note, I’m going to get Jordan up for school, then if Pato’s off, I’ll take Jordan back down to the ICU to see his dad.  If not, I’ll see if his brother can take him down.

Have a wonderful day.

If you have time, send a thought and a prayer up for Jordan and his dad.

No school today and I can’t sleep in?

Posted by Heather Manning On October - 24 - 2008

Jordan’s off today.  And I told Kat’s school that I was keeping her home because they have flu shots today.  They are so not happy with me.  Anyways, the shots aren’t for a bit.  You think I could sleep in a little.  Nope, up at 6:30.  Normal time for me to get the kids up for school.  Oh well, at least all the kids are sleeping still.

Not really looking forward to the flu shots.  Jordan – my beautiful son, he was the one I had problems with last year.  The girls sat there and took there shots.  Ok, Alyce cried bad.  But Kat was brave.   I had to hold Jordan down.  Since Pato isn’t with me this year, I’m going to have them do Jordan first, just in case he pulls that again.  I won’t have to put a crying Alyce down to hold him down for the nurse.

I’ve explained to them that they have to get them because a)  I want them to be healthy.  b)  I’m pregnant.  I’ve been sick enough already.  I don’t need them bringing the flu home from school.  Pato has been informed that he is getting one as soon as he gets back too.  I don’t think he’s thrilled about it, but you know, he works with the general public all day.  He ALWAYS gets the flu then brings it back here.  uh uh, no way.  Buck up big boy and roll up that sleeve.

He is supposed to be home tomorrow.  Before Jordan’s soccer game.  Shall we take bets on this one ladies?  I don’t have a lot of faith left in him.

I don’t know if I ever blogged this, but when his uncle was trying to get him up there to work, and said just for a few months, I’ll train you, then I’ll open the restaurant for you in Iowa, I was worried.  And I told Pato, I bet you $$ he’s trying to get you up there, so that then you’ll get me up there, and we’ll all be in Ohio with your family.

What do you know?   Heather was right.  A few weeks ago, his uncle said, I don’t have enough $$ to buy that restaurant, but I’m willing to give you one of mine here.  Oh uh uh.  Sorry, trickery does not work with me.  Now Pato and I have been fighting since then because he hasn’t turned around and come home yet.  He’s working in his sister’s restaurant.  His whole thing is, he wants to have money for bills for November put together just in case he can’t find a job right away.  My whole thing is, get your butt home to your kids where you belong.

So, he’s supposed to be leaving some time today finally.  And he told Jordan and Kat he’ll be here in time for Jordan’s game at 3 tomorrow.  I said, don’t get your hopes up til he comes in that door.  It’s a long drive.  He’s changed plans so many times, I don’t believe him anymore.

He’s got a lot of repair work to do with me when he gets home.  Like, he’s sleeping on the couch for quite awhile.  It’s not been pretty.

The kids have some work to do today just in case he does come home.  They trashed the living room yesterday.  And then we had issues all night with picking it up.  Ok, the oldest 2 had issues.  Alyce was running around picking up her toys saying, “MINE!  MINE!”  then putting them in her toy box.  I wish the kids had some sort of barcode scanners or computer or something, where I could reprogram them to pick up like Alyce does.  No fighting, no yelling, no grounding, no whining, just yes mom.  Wouldn’t that be nice???

Ok, Alyce is laying on me making it hard to type.  Have a wonderful day!

Christmas Shopping

Posted by Heather Manning On October - 23 - 2008

That’s what Alyce and I did this morning after we dropped the kids off at school.  I used to do lay away at Walmart until they canceled it because a)  I have snoops in my house, b) don’t want to charge up my charge cards, c)  easier than just getting a couple at a time.  I could get all my shopping done at once.  Then they canceled it.  I cried.  Not really, but I was sad.

When that happened, I went way over my limit that I had set for myself last year.

Then this year I found out Kmart had lay away.  Can I say they don’t have the choices that Wal-Mart has for toys.  But they had enough that I got all my Christmas shopping done for the kids.

I decided there weren’t going to be as many toys for the older 2 because they just get scattered around, not picked up, etc.  One nice thing and maybe a couple of other things.  Jordan wanted a Nintendo DS Lite, so I got one of those and a game that was on clearance to go with it.  Then I grabbed Kat a leapster with a Disney Princess game.  She got a few other toys because hers was less than Jordan’s.  I also got Jordan a air hogs little helicopter – hoping that since it’s not made of foam that it will last longer than the air hogs airplane I got him last year.

Kat got the leapster.  Then I grabbed her a Hannah Montana barbie (her latest obsession).  A set of polly pockets and a My littlest pet shop set.  There was something else, but I don’t remember what.  It wasn’t big though.  That equaled out to about what I spent on Jordan.

Alyce was so much harder.  She’s at that stage where she’s too big for baby toys and too little for preschool toys.  I got her the Little People’s castle, and a baby alive doll (not the most expensive one, the carry and go one), an elmo digital camera that isn’t really a digital camera – it has a screen on the back where you match things together?, a sesame street phone that looks like a conference phone and she played with all the way through the store, and another baby alive doll that was small, sip and go I think, that I found on clearance.  That equaled about what the other 2 got.  She loves babies.  I think she’d be happy with just the 2 babies.

But, I didn’t get her birthday shopping done.  Her birthday is Dec 2.  She’ll be 2.  Can you believe it???  I’m going to go out the day after thanksgiving and hope to find something that catches my eye for her birthday.  I really don’t think she needs many more toys.  I’m not sure what I’m going to get her.

Anways, it’s all on layaway at Kmart.  Needs picked up by Dec 18.  I can do that.  LOL  Jordan is going to flip about the DS because I told him he doesn’t need one.  He has a gameboy.  He’s been begging for one for 2 years.  Although, I hope he is big enough to understand that though he only has 3 presents under the tree that it’s equal to what was spent on his sisters.

We’ll see.

I smelled nail polish in my bathroom.  Couldn’t figure out where it came from.  Looked closer and found that Alyce had learned how to open up my Samsonite luggage make up case that I got from my grandma when she passed away.  She opened up a bottle of green nail polish and poured it in it.  Now I have to figure out how to get it out of there without hurting it.  And dump all bottles of nail polish that are in colors that I haven’t worn since before I had kids.  LOL  I never use the make up case.  It’s just important to me.  It’s all I have from my grandma.  And that was part of her ritual every morning.  She’d put her case on the kitchen chair in front of her, propping the back open on the chair, then lean over and do her make up every day.  She passed away when I was 14 and I still miss her so much.

I’ll leave you with a little fun

Have a beautiful day!

Some soccer pictures

Posted by Heather Manning On October - 21 - 2008

Jordan had a game Saturday.  Kat’s season ended last Thursday so I’m down to one child in soccer through November 1.  Yes, I have a game at 3 on digiscrapping day.  How wrong is that?  We’ll be hurrying.  ROFL  It’s a make up game because there first game was rained out.  We’d be done this Saturday if we didn’t have that to do.

Running somewhere.  He’s been playing center a lot lately, which I think accounts for why his pants are falling off and why he needs a new belt.  LOL

Katiana and her gaggle of girls.  I swear that shirt covered her tummy when I said she could wear it in the morning.  I made her show it to me to make sure it fit.  Now I look at the pictures.  That sure goes to Alyce next.

Going to challenge that kid for the ball.

Alyce inspecting a piece of clover

Telling mommy she’s tired.

That’s all the ones I edited for today.  It was an exciting game but they got stomped on.  :o (  I say they still had fun though.

Got up this morning and it was 40 degrees out.  NOOOO!  It’s fall in Iowa.

I think I need one of those carports to put my car under when it snows.  Think the apartments would mind?  They’d probably just tell Pato to clean out the garage so my van would fit in there.  It’s so stinking cold and covered in frost when I go to start it at 7:30 to get the kids to school in the morning.  That’ll be on my list of things for him to do when he gets home.  LOL  He’s got it cleaned out enough so his little Honda fits in there.   Not so my caravan will.  He’s a beautiful man!

Have a great day!

So tired -

Posted by Heather Manning On October - 21 - 2008

I thought you were supposed to get a boost of energy in the second trimester?  I so haven’t gotten one yet.  Though I’ve been having insomnia lately.  I’ve been getting up at about 2 and not able to fall back to sleep until 5 or so.  Then we have to get up at 6:30.  You wouldn’t think little Christian would be big enough to keep me up at 2 in the morning, but he does.  Dancing his little jig in there.  Kick kick kick all night long.

Someone asked this morning if I was pregnant at the gas station.  Nope, I just need a really strong dietpill.  Your imagining this huge ball sticking out in front of me.  Maybe I should post a tummy shot.  But lord, it’s not pretty.  22 weeks and I look like my sister did at 9 months.  It’s just wrong.  I’ve never been one of those women who carry this cute little baby belly.  Nope, mine starts under the boobs and goes on down.  Oh well.  What do you do?

Be back with some soccer pics as soon as I get them edited!

That was freaky – not cool

Posted by Heather Manning On October - 18 - 2008

I’ve been suspecting for awhile that someone comes on our porch at night after we go to bed.  From things being moved to stupid little things missing.  Nothing that I felt was important enough to call the cops.  Then 2 nights ago, my suspicions were confirmed when what was missing of all things was a coffee can I keep out there for people who smoke – everyone I know smokes – and no one is allowed to smoke in our place.  It had been about half way full.  So I’m assuming they took it to find some longer butts to smoke?  EW!

Last night I was putting the girls to bed when Jordan came in and said, mom!  I saw the person on our porch.  Well, my son – I don’t want to say stupidly because he really was trying to help – but he opened up the sliding glass door.  Can you imagine all the thoughts that went through my mind?  Weapon – he could have really hurt my son,  the fact this guy could have come in our house – all this horrible stuff.  Well he had a lighter that someone had left on my grill.  I guess he was stealing that this time.  When Jordan opened up the door and stepped out to ask what he was doing, the guy punched Jordan in the arm and took off running.  Dropped the lighter which Jordan grabbed and took off in a black car that Jordan said looked like a convertible with the top up.   Which to me could have been an actual convertible or one of those old cars with the vinyl tops.  He had moved Jordan’s bike off the porch, I’m thinking he might have wanted that after he was done snooping.  After questioning Jordan over and over again to make sure he was telling me the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help him God, I called the cops.  The dispatcher talked to Jordan on the phone, he gave her his description.   Black male, Jordan said he looked like he was in his teens, goatee, black leather jacket.  I think he did ok seeing as he was scared to death.  The dispatcher asked me if I wanted an officer to come by and talk to us or just do a drive by throughout the night.  I told her since Jordan had told her everything he knew and the guy was probably long gone, probably just drive by.  That was the end of it.  But then I couldn’t sleep the rest of the night with all these thoughts going through my head of what could have happened.  How I have no way of protecting my kids had something happened.

I sat on the phone with Pato for quite awhile.  Freaking out. We both are ticked off at the apartments.  We live in a nice quiet area.  In a great school district.  (I could be biased, it’s where I went to school.  LOL)  But the apartments lately, I don’t know if it’s the downswing of the economy or what, have been letting every Tom, Dick, and Harry move in here the last few months.  The thing that was bothering me the most is the parents who don’t watch their kids.  We have one lady who has a 5 year old boy and a little girl.  You’ll see that little boy all over the place by himself, even when it’s dark.  I’ve told him (nicely) before he needs to go inside.  He shouldn’t be outside riding his little cars in the parking lot after dark.  He could get run over.  She let’s him go down to the park by himself.  I don’t even let my son go down to the park by himself and he’s almost 10.  I don’t trust him when he’s out of my sight with a bunch of other kids.  LOL  Plus, there is a sign down there that says you must be 16 or older or accompanied by an adult.  Then you have the other kids whose parents don’t care that they are picking on/starting fights with other kids all the time.  That’s what was bothering me.  I honestly thought it was one of those kids whose parents let them run around at all hours of the day who was playing around on my porch.

Since I’ve never seen that car here, I’d have to think it was someone else.  Or maybe he was in a friend’s car.  I don’t know.  All I know is I told Pato I wanted to practice my 2nd amendment rights.  He told me I couldn’t have a gun. (It’s amazing how extreme everything seems in your head when you are high on adrenaline and pregnancy hormones, seriously, all I could think is what if he had gotten in the house, I was in putting the girls to sleep with no protection but my cell phone.)   I said, well, we can get a paintball gun.  Then I can splatter him with paint and he’ll look kind of odd running around like that.  Plus, as Blythe pointed out, paintball pellets leave welts.   Or a BB gun.  I could handle that.  I accidentally shot my cousin in the hand with a BB gun when I was little.  It hurt.   He cried.  That would probably just tick off would be robber wouldn’t it?

After last night I think I need one of those acne cures for my face, it’s bumpy from stress, and some kind of cure for an upset stomach that is cramping up.  Seriously, couldn’t sleep.

I was scared to get up this morning and open the shade for fear I’d see everything gone.  Today I think we are going to spend the day taking bikes out to the garage.  Everything but Kat’s Dora tricycle and her Barbie ride on thing that Alyce likes to use.  I even want the grill in the garage.  Anything that isn’t nailed down is going to be locked up.

Hopefully you’re night was less eventful!

Kat’s last soccer game

Posted by Heather Manning On October - 17 - 2008

Last night was Katiana’s last game.   Can I get a woohoo!  Now I only have 1 practice and 1 game a week until Nov 1.  (I know it’s late, it was a make up game from one that was rained out in the beginning.)  Last night my brother took Jordan to his practice because his daughter had practice at the same time as Jordan.  And I didn’t want to miss Kat’s last game.

warming up

Alyce was so engrossed in the game, no time for a smile.  Not really.  She was cranky – runny nose.

Not sure what this scowl is for.  But like the rug burn under her eye?  That’s from her and Jordan fighting a few days ago.  Don’t worry, she gives as good as she gets.  Actually, most of the time she gives worse than she gets.  She’s a little scrapper.

When they both make that face, can you tell they are sisters?

After the game was over Pato and I were texting back and forth as to whether we should put her in dance or go ahead and have her continue in soccer.  I think I’ll let her make that decision.  Don’t tell me both.  I have too many kids to get too many places already.  ROFL

I was just thinking that it was almost time to start looking for the best buy in holiday shopping.  Can you believe it’s coming up on that already.  I was thinking I might actually wait this year until the day after Thanksgiving sales.  I thought I was done last year by the end of September.  Then I went shopping that day after Thanksgiving and bought more.  The kids had WAY too many presents last year.  I think it’s probably a good idea to wait.

I wish Wal-Mart still had lay away.  That was my way of Christmas shopping without interest.  ROFL  I’m not going to put anything on my cards this year.  That’s how I got so out of control last year.  Cash-ola for everything.  Though, if you know of a store that still does lay away.  That would be awesome.  :o )

Have a great day!
