Odds and Ends

Posted by Heather Manning On July - 21 - 2008

I couldn’t take my camera to the casino, but I did take a couple of pictures on my phone of the kids.  Ask me why I don’t have any pictures of the camels and ostriches?  Well, you see, huge crowd – I had to hold my phone over my head to get pictures and all I got was pictures of the people’s heads in front of me.  LOL  That didn’t work out well.

Here are my cutie patootie kids waiting for the races though.

There is Katiana in the stroller after she got in trouble for climbing the fence for the 3rd time.  LOL  I was afraid she’d flip right over it out onto the track and get smooshed by camels.

Before she got in trouble.  That’s the fence she was climbing.

Jordan hanging out waiting for the races to start.

Alyce trying to figure out what is going on.  Is she not growing up too quickly?

scooching closer and closer to people we don’t know.  LOL  Yeah, I forgot to take off my little clip that clips it onto my pocket when I took a picture.  You can see it in the bottom of the picture of Alyce.

Not the best pictures I’ve taken, but what do you do with a camera phone?  LOL

Yesterday the kids and I went out to my mom and dad’s where my dad was just finishing up getting cherries off of the cherry tree.  Well, he left a few because holy moly did they have a lot of cherries.  I helped my mom clean and pit a huge colander full of them.  There were still I think 2 huge bowls and a roaster pan full of cherries when I had to leave.  LOL  Dad took Jordan fishing, so he got out of cherry washing duty.

Katiana wanted to know if we were going to have cherry pies today.  My mom had decided they were just going to freeze the cherries until it’s cooler because it’s just too hot to turn on the oven to make a butt load of pies.  I said, don’t you worry.  As soon as we hear that grandpa is making cherry pies, we’re on our way out.  LOL  My dad makes the best cherry pies!  The cherries on the tree are really tart.  They aren’t like the black cherries you get in the store, but with the sugar and all that in the pie, they are so awesome!

Wonder if the cherries are cleaned and pitted yet?  LOL  Mom?

Then we left, I picked Pato up from work because his car is back at the mechanic.  Something was wrong with the motor they put in before, but it had a warranty, so they are putting in a different one.  We came home and my dad met us here with Jordan.

Jordan has so much fun hanging out with my dad.  I don’t know if my dad realizes it, but it really means a lot to him when grandpa takes him somewhere.  His dad doesn’t take him fishing or out to do guy stuff like that and Pato works so much that he doesn’t get to do it as often as he likes.  So Jordan is stuck with me and the girls all the time.  Poor kid.  LOL  I think it’s easier for my dad to take Jordan out to do stuff too now that he is older and isn’t quite as – I don’t want to say inquisitive, because he is still very inquisitive, but you don’t have to take a flying leap to keep him from falling in the lake anymore.  LOL  He listens better now.

Alright, I think since Pato is off today (he ended up working Saturday – sorry mom for now mushrooms!), I’m going to go wake him up and ——- make him play with the girls so I can lay down.  ROFL  I didn’t sleep well last night.  We had a nasty thunderstorm go through last night and it kept me up for awhile.

Have a great day!

I finished pitting the bowl of cherries you had washed. That made 15 cups of cherries washed and pitted. Sounds like a lot until you remember it takes 4 cups of cherries per pie. Bummer!:( Anyway, I think I have a half cup washed now (back is killing me) and am trying to get another half cup so I can freeze the bagful.

Your dad said “Did you send some home with her?” I told him “No, but I will send her some unwashed cherries and the pitter!” ROFL I cannot believe it takes so long to get the cherries prepared. I also don’t think your dad looked at what he was picking. I’ve thrown away a lot of bad cherries.

Surely 4 cups makes 2 pies (how could it possibly make 1? Love, Mom

Ohh those pies sound good! We’re off to Justin’s doctor appointment in a bit. The boys are driving me nuts missing Daddy. And he’s only been gone a day. OY. Poor you & what you went thru!! Then it’s back home & scrapping to keep my sanity!! Holler at me when you get a sec. I’ve got an idea.

    Looks like they were getting ready to have some fun! I never knew you couldn’t take photos in a casino till I did, and an employee came up to me and informed me of such a silly thing….I did snap off a couple before I got caught too… hehehe! Hope you get some sleep kiddo, that baby needs all the nourishment he/she can get!!! {{HUGS}}
