We have an answer for Alyce. Yesterday afternoon she started digging in her ears, both of them. While crying. I packed up the girls and we ran to the doctor for the third visit of the week. He said her ears were really red and yes she has an ear infection in both ears. I could have sworn with the way she was coughing if she had an antibiotic she would have been on the mend by now. (And I’m not one to advocate antibiotics for everything – when the doctor says watch and wait, I’m usually ok with that, it’s when my kid is coughing so bad she starts having problems breathing that I have a problem with watching and waiting.) Now that it has manifested in her ears she has amoxicilan. She had 2 doses yesterday and 1 this morning. Her cough has already pretty much gone away as of this morning. She’ll cough once every 5 minutes versus once every 30 seconds. She’s still really clingy. On top of me write now as I type. And she’s still really whiny.
I’m trying to stop nursing, and last night she wanted to just sleep and nurse. And it was a battle of wills. A BIG battle. She would scream and kick off of me, arching her little back, throwing a tantrum when I’d take it away. And I’d try to rub her back and she’d have none of that. It was a long night for both of us I think.
She’s kind of pulling on one of her ears now, so I think some tylenol is in order soon.
Turned out a nap was in order, for all of us. LOL I started this post at 7:30 and it’s now um, 10:56. LOL Woops! I feel a little more refreshed. Kat even laid down with us. Alyce is still asleep, but I’m waiting for that wail that she is awake. Should be coming any time now.
I’m waiting for Pato to call me. He called the lady working on his visa yesterday and she was supposed to call him back. He was supposed to call me back when she returned his call. She was going to check on the status. I’m going to assume that she hasn’t called him back, which is better than she called him back and he was denied. LOL See, I’m thinking more positively today.
If you have some extra time today, stop over and say hey to my mama. She blogged about going down to Alabama to my Uncle’s ball where he was made Potentate of the Shriner’s in his area. She got to spend some time with her sister’s, finally feel like she went to a prom, and see my Aunt Jackie who has been through medical hell become the Belle of the Ball. I love all 3 of you (mom, Aunt Jackie, and Aunt Sue!)

Ok, so things are still looking up. Not good that poor Alyce has the ear infection, but now with meds she should be good.

What is it with ear infections? I’m taking my oldest to the ENT next week for one that won’t quit. But good news is you know what it is and can treat her now. Hope everyone continues on the mend.
AWW girlfriend I have been playing a major catch up read here- you’ve been through quite a bit in the last few weeks! Sheeee’s- it’s amazing you still standing! Hoping the anti-biotics help out Alyce now!- they should and so glad to hear you got some respite too:-)
