A Night in The ER

Posted by Heather Manning On March - 31 - 2008

I wasn’t going to post this morning but then I thought some of you guys might wonder if something was wrong because I post every day.  So, I thought I’d do a quick post just to tell you what’s going on.

So not the post I was planning on doing today.  I had pictures of the kids on their scooters yesterday when we went for a walk.  And Miss Katiana complaining every 10 seconds taht she couldn’t “keep the beat”, keep up with me.  But, I’ll save those for tomorrow.

Katiana was fine all day yesterday.  Completely fine.  And then she got up from a late nap at about 5:00, and from 5 to 7 she was throwing up violently.  7 times before we even left the house.  She seemed like she was in extreme pain.  And I was nervous.  I thought maybe constipation, but I’ve never seen her act like this when she’s constipated.  It was bad.  By 7:40 when we got to the hospital, she had thrown up 1 in the car,  1 in the parking lot, and one time in the hospital room trash can.  So, 10 times in 2 1/2 hours.

They did an abdominal Xray, and she had a little stool in there.  But there not sure if that is what is causing her throwing up.  They also did a urine sample.  And that’s why I’m a tad freaked out this morning.    Kat has another UTI.  And the ER doc then turned into Mr Doom and Gloom.  Seriously nice guy, not the best way to tell me this.

He said, young children do not get UTIs.  They don’t.  And she needs to have this ultrasound done, and dye shot up her urethra for this test.  Because if her urethra is not working properly and it’s spasming the urine back up into the kidneys, it is destroying her kidneys, and by the time she is 13 she’d be on dialysis 3 times a week if it’s not fixed now.   HUH?  WHOA!  You just came out and told me you think this about my daughter right now?  Ok.  So, we’ve got an appointment with her doctor at 11:40 this morning.

The pharmacist told me that she couldn’t take her augmentin until she can hold food down.  (Kat’s allergic to sulfa drugs, the ones they usually give you for a UTI.)  I’m like, what am I supposed to do?  She threw up again twice this morning when she was up and went back to sleep.  I guess the augmentin is really hard on your tummy and you have to take it with food.  If she can’t keep food down, she can’t take the antibiotic for her UTI.  And the ER doc should have known this.

So, off we go this morning for a fun day of poor Kat getting poked and prodded again I’m sure.  Although, if I know her doc, he’ll say there’s nothing to worry about.  Now I need someone who falls right in the middle of not trying to freak me out completely and being to easy going.

Of course, Pato called me back in the middle of all this, and he is WIGGING out.  I figured if I had to be stressed over what the doctor said, so he can he.  Thank you very much.  He’s off first thing this morning to talk to the agency that he is working on his visa with to see if it can’t be sped up because his daughter is very sick.

So, instead of cute pictures of kids on scooters, how about pictures of kids waiting in the hospital.  These were on my phone.

My poor baby.  :o (

Ok, I’m going to sign off because I have to get ready, and get the girls ready.  Keep her in your prayers that it’s just a UTI and nothing more serious.

By the time Pato gets home

Posted by Heather Manning On March - 31 - 2008

I’m going to need some kind of treatment.  Not drug treatment obviously, but some kind of treatment.  Do you remember that song?

Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave
Because I’d go berserk?
Well. . .
You left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I’ve gone
Completely out of my mind
And. . .
They’re coming to take me away, HA HA
They’re coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I’ll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they’re coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!
You thought it was a joke
And so you laughed
You laughed when I had said
That losing you would make me flip my lid
Right. . .
You know you laughed, I heard you laugh
You laughed, you laughed and laughed
And then you left
But now you know I’m utterly mad!
And. . .
They’re coming to take me away, HA HA
They’re coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they’re coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!
I cooked your food
I cleaned your house
And this is how you pay me back
For all my kind, unselfish loving deeds?!!
Hah. . .
Well you just wait
They’ll find you yet
And when they do they’ll
Put you in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!
And. . .
They’re coming to take me away, HA HA
They’re coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I’ll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they’re coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!
To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they’re coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I’ll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they’re coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

That’s so me right now.  LOL
