I’m all over the place today.

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 8 - 2008

I was going to post pictures of new year’s eve and the kids that I keep forgetting to post, but someone ran off with the USB cord to my camera.  Who did it?  Admit it.  LOL  I’ll be searching for that.  I have the cutest picture of Katiana sleeping on the couch.  There was a stack of folded blankets and she sat down next to it, waiting for the ball to drop.  We looked over and she was crashed.  So, must have cord!

My girls were cranky yesterday.  I think we all have cabin fever.  Not to mention that Alyce still hasn’t broken 3 of those molars all the way through yet.  We just have the corners of them just barely peaking through, and she has a cold.  Happy baby, let me tell you!  So, I packed us all up, grabbed my Victoria’s Secret gift cards my sister got me for my birthday and Christmas, and we went to the mall.  Alyce was happy as long as the stroller was moving.  Which didn’t help me when I was browsing the sale stuff at VS.  So, I hurried through.  I got a little more than my GCs were worth, but the sales were so good, I couldn’t help myself.  I got 3 pairs of the Pink line sweat pants.  2 were the boyfriend style that were on sale for 50% off.  I was really surprised that they fit me.  LOL  Nothing there fits on top.  I’m hoping that I’ll go back down to a normal size once I quit nursing.  LOL  But, because the L tops don’t fit me, I was having doubts about the L bottoms.  But, I got home, tried them on.  Doing the happy dance.  LOL  I also got this huge bright pink bag for 50% off that I thought would make a good bag to carry my laptop in.  If I ever take it anywhere.  I told the cashier, I’ll be the only mom using it as a diaper bag.  LOL  I don’t like cutesy diaper bags, I use a variety of bags that I have from duffel bags to back packs instead of the normal diaper bag.

The make up was on sale too.  I got some of their lip plumper gloss for $2.99.  75% off!  And some lip stick for the same price.  At this point, Alyce was throwing a conniption fit, so I ran up to the check out where I also grabbed some massage oil in wild berry.  ROFL  Couldn’t help myself.  It was there, it was cute, I grabbed it.

Got Alyce out to the car to realize that she lost one of her new Old Navy boots.  I’m going to have to call VS and see if she dropped it in there.  I’ll be sad if we lost it.  It doesn’t surprise me.  She’s been working on getting those off since I bought them.  She’s worn the white ones I got her a lot, but this was the 2nd time she wore the pink ones.  Little poop.

Today, she’s going to be so happy with me!  She gets her 2nd half of the flu shot at 2.  Sorry baby.  I need to see how she is doing this morning with that cold though.  I don’t want her to get the shot if she’s any sicker than she was yesterday.

And tomorrow morning, I may not have time to blog, we’ll see.  I have to meet my sister down at the hospital.  Her mother in law is dropping her off.  She has to have a colonoscopy.  Again, sorry baby!  LOL  They won’t let her drive herself home, and I volunteered for the job.  I figure I’ll take her down to the Mexican store afterwards and get her in ilote if she’s good for the doctor.  ROFL  No, I really am going to take her down to get one.  She’s already drooling.  She doesn’t like to go in by herself because her Spanish isn’t great.  And there aren’t many people that work there that speak English.  Pato will have the girls in the morning and I won’t have to drag them all out, perfect time to take her to get a yummy Mexican treat.

If you haven’t had an ilote, you are missing out!  They are so good.  Though they sound gross when I tell you what’s on it.  At least I thought it did at first.  Pato wouldn’t tell me what was on it until I took a bite and went to heaven.  LOL  It’s corn on the cob, with mayonnaise brushed onto it.  Then it is dipped in this cheese that is similar to parmesan (in fact I have made them at home with parmesan cheese.)  Then they sprinkle hot chili powder over it.  So good!  You can also get it in a cup with the corn scraped off the cob.

Speaking of food.  One of my new year’s resolutions was to lose weight – whose wasn’t?  ROFL  I actually haven’t made a resolution in years because I never stick to them.  But, I’m going to!  So, tell me – do you have any easy healthy recipes that use things that a person would have on hand?  By on hand I mean, I don’t have to drive to a special store in Chicago (6 hours away LOL) to get the ingredients.  Or do you know of any websites that have awesome recipes that are fairly easy and don’t require 55 pans to make?  (I hate the clean up part.)  I know I can search, but I love it when I get info from you guys because it has been tried and tested.  And I know it’s good!  :o )

I still have some stuff on sale right now and it will be until we switch over the Friday favorites on Friday!

I’m Blushing – my newest mini kit is on sale for $2.00 DSN PDW

and for my Spanish speaking friends (para mis amigas que hablan español ) and anyone else who could use it (Translations are included) I put Los Dichos 3 – Cuentos de Hadas on sale for $2.00.

DSN PDW

And if you haven’t scrapped those Christmas pictures yet – I haven’t scrapped them all so no judging from me!  ROFL  I still have this special going on!

Digiscrapping.net or Plain Digital Wrapper

And might I recommend my dear friend Kim B’s commercial grab bag this month?  I snagged it this morning and woohoo!  Filled to the brim with awesome stuff!  You can take my word that when you get Kim’s stuff it is always always always of the highest quality.  I’ve never had even one stray pixel on one of her products.

Well, that’s all from me right now!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

I need to go to bed earlier -

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 7 - 2008

I’m thinking winter break kicked me in my behind.  I stayed up later, slept in a little later.  Now I’m dragging.  Let’s see, Friday I went to bed at 3.  We’ll just blame Pato for that one.  I can’t sleep til he’s home.  He got home at 1:30 a.m. then we sat up and talked and just hung out.  The only we time we get us time is when all the kids are sleeping obviously.  LOL  We haven’t been out together alone without children, since Katiana was maybe 1.  I know we went out for my birthday that year.  The year after I couldn’t because I was on bed rest with Alyce.  Wait til you hear why he got home at 1:30.

Then last night I think I went to bed finally at 2:45.  I turned off my computer at 12:30 or so.  Then Alyce wouldn’t go back to sleep, so we had a nice little chat about all the reasons she shouldn’t be up.  Then the alarm goes off at 7.  Seriously, wanted to smash it.  So tired.  Eyes still don’t want to open.  I think Jordan is feeling the same way – again.  He didn’t want to get up.  Now he’s in the shower, but he’s been in the for like 25 minutes.  Not sure what all there is to do?  Wash his hair and body?  Not like he shaves his legs or anything?  Need to go yell at him.

Just went in there and he’s leaning his head on the shower door sleeping.  Standing up.  In the shower.  With the water running.  I so wish.  He jumped about mile when I said, WHAT are you doing?  Taking a shower.  Whatever.  Get moving.  LOL

So, Friday night.  I called Pato at 11:20 and said, are you almost done?  He said yes, he had one more thing to do and then he was on his way.  Well, he still doesn’t have the speedometer fixed in that white car that I hate.  He got pulled over going 75 in a 65.  I’m thinking, this is because he’s Mexican.  Because I have never had my car searched.  My brother Steve, has had his car searched.  But he’s known where he lives for being naughty up until a few years ago.  They still don’t trust him.  My brother Josh, never had his car searched.

“Do you have anything in your car?”  Pato, really wasn’t being a smart ass when he said, “like what?”  When you speak another language as your second language, you tend to take things literally.  LOL  And Mr Police Officer went on to list, drugs, guns, anything that might stab someone.  He said, no.  Well, did he mind if the nice officer and some of his friends searched his car?  Sure, go ahead.  He called in four other cops.  to search a HONDA CIVIC.  Have you seen a Honda Civic?  Not the size of my van.  5 cops took an hour I think he said to search his car.  He was ok when it was just one cop, he would have been ok with 2.  But with 5, he’s crapping his pants.  He said, I thought I was definitely going to jail, but I didn’t know why.  When they got done examining every micro fiber of the car and running his information to make sure they didn’t have any reason at all to haul his butt to jail, they let him go.  Didn’t even give him a ticket for the speeding.  Just told him to get the speedometer fixed.

Seriously, if you look at Pato, when he shaves.  LOL  In his work uniform.  He’s about as clean cut as they come.  I don’t know why they wanted to search his car.  And this isn’t the first time.  Last year he got pulled over for something trivial, but it was something that needed to be fixed, like a headlight or something.  Searched his car then too.

I’m still thinking the 5 police officers for his car was overkill.  I would think in a car that size that you would just be getting in each other’s way.

Other than that excitement we spent a boring weekend at home.  My niece’s second birthday party was Saturday and we missed it.  Alyce was running a fever and had green stuff flowing.  I know, I know, EW!  TMI!  But, I didn’t want to get Carter or Jadah sick, so we stayed home.  She’s better now.

Jordan’s dad didn’t get him yesterday.  Surprise surprise!  He does this a lot.  So, Jordan was rather disappointed.  We ended up setting up his desk and bookshelf.  Then he used my laptop at his desk to play with Webkinz.  He was all tickled to be sitting at his own desk.   Speaking of whom, has 12 minutes til the bus gets here and is just now putting on his underwear.  And mom, could you please get me some boxers to wear to bed, cuz the other ones just aren’t comfortable.  Yes honey, I’m so glad your thinking about bed already.  LOL

So, that’s it from me.  Anything exciting happening in your life?  Anything exciting in the digiworld?   Oh, Oh, Oh!  I do have something exciting for me.  Since Blythe has announced the other designers on her blog, I think it’s ok to make my announcement.  LOL  I am going to join the following designers at Purple Paper Flowers.

Be Careful Where you Park

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 4 - 2008

Last night was CRAZY!  They didn’t expect as many people to turn out for the caucuses as did.  In  my precinct they had 70 people last time.  There were well over 200 of us shoved into a class room (Jordan’s music room at his school.  LOL)  People trying to get in the door.  That was just 1 room – the republican section 1 of my precinct.  Then there was section 2 for the republicans  and section 1 and 2 for the democrats.  And may I say, the democrats came out in full force.  They outnumbered republicans almost 2 to 1 in the caucuses throughout the state.  So, woohoo for the dems!  LOL  Way to support your people!  And republican showings far exceeded anything they expected.  So woohoo us too.  ROFL

Oh the parking.  I had to park across and up the street at a church.  This caucus was held at my son’s school which is obviously an elementary school, which obviously doesn’t have a lot of parking for anything other than teacher’s.  I was early.  I pulled into the church’s parking lot, nothing.  So, you know those entry ways where you can pull up and drop someone off?  Well, people were starting to park there, so I did too.  When we got done, I went out to my car.  Well, some of the republicans waited around for the results, and democrats were still going strong playing musical political chairs (that’s more or less what it’s like over there, it sounds fun.)  People in front of me and double parked across this driveway and someone behind me parked across the exit.  I was completely stuck for about 20 minutes.  I contemplated going through the snow, but the part of me that thought it was rude to drive through a church’s yard stopped me.  That and the part of me that reminded myself that I don’t have 4 wheel drive and I’d probably get stuck.

So, I waited with about 4 other people.  All of us grumbling about not planning this event well.  ROFL  Til someone moved one of the cars blocking the exit.  Then we all pulled onto the church’s wide sidewalk to turn around and leave.

Haven’t heard the results yet?  I know some of the country doesn’t really care what is going on in Iowa.  LOL  but if you do and for some reason you have had no access to radio, tv, newspapers, or internet – the results were that Huckabee swept Iowa (I was a little disappointed as that’s not who I voted for.  LOL)  And Obama took it big time for the democrats.  My guy, John McCain, almost tied for 3rd with Fred Thompson.  They both had 13%.  I was really surprised that it wasn’t that close between the 2 winners and second place.  But, between Edwards and Clinton, it was neck and neck.  Can you guys tell I’m a little bit of a political junkie?  LOL  I’m really interested to see how NH goes.  I’ve heard it’s neck and neck with Romney and McCain.  And I’d really like to see McCain take it there.

You know what else?  I did not know you could caucus with your kids.  Had I known that I wouldn’t have had to drive all the way to my sister’s house to drop the kids off and all the way back to get them when it was done.  And um, Jordan would have his homework done this morning.  ROFL  All the kids I saw were very well behaved.  Maybe it was a good thing I left mine with my sister.  ROFL

Alrighty!  Friday favorites!  I have 2 products up – as usual – this week for Friday favorites!

I’m Blushing – my newest mini kit is on sale for $2.00 DSN PDW

Ok, I got it done!

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 3 - 2008

Here is my 3 month guest creative team graphic!  LOL

I know, it’s kind of simple, but I’m loving that paper right now.  And I think I’m in a simple mood.  Really, I think I need a nap already.  Alyce is still sleeping, think I can get her to stay asleep if I lay down next to her?

Here is the rest of today’s stuff.  It’s got the pictures from the rally last night.

Back on Schedule

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 3 - 2008

Woohoo!  Jordan goes back to school today.  And he’s fighting me every step of the way this morning.  He didn’t go to sleep early last night.  I tried.  I really did.  And today he is cranky.  Just like I told him he would be.

He did get his new bed up yesterday and I just about had a heart attack when I saw how high up it was.  LOL  The guy did say 5 feet tall.  I’m 5’4″.  I thought the whole thing would be a little shorter than me.  No, with the mattress and rail, Jordan’s bed sits about 2 feet below the ceiling.  We had to take the blades off the ceiling fan so he wouldn’t turn it on and chop his head off.  He’s not happy about that.  I did tell him that I would buy him a new fan and we could put it on his dresser.

I went to go wake him up and usually I have to shake him.  Today, I walked in, looked around, and thought, um, how am I going to wake him up?  LOL  Luckily, he was sleeping light enough that just saying his name got him groaning about how he didn’t want to go to school.  Now he’s up complaining.  At least he’s dressed.

So, we (Jordan and I – Pato took the girls out for Chinese) went to the McCain rally last night.  Nope, not going to get started on a major politic thing again.  Just going to show the pictures I took.  LOL  I was so mad at myself.  I took my camera, yes – battery – still on the charger at home.  So, I used my phone.  The pictures aren’t as good as I would want them to be.  Obviously.   There were a lot of senators, and media “royalty”.  The lady next time, her daughter worked for the campaign, and she was taking pictures for her.  They took my email addy so they could send me a picture she took of Jordan with Tim Russert from Meet The Press.  There were so many members of the media there.  It was CRAZY.  Some how I got a front row seat.  Actually, I know how.  The lady on the phone told me it was from 6 – 8:30.  I got there at 6.  Got a chair for Jordan and I.  It didn’t start til close to 8.  John’s plane was iced over in Davenport Iowa, they had to deice it before they could get to Des Moines.  He didn’t get there until 8:30.  So, that’s one reason Jordan didn’t get to bed til after I wanted him to.  On to the cruddy cell phone pictures.  LOL

John McCain, Senator John Thune , Senator Lindsay Graham, Senator Sam Brownback, and Patricia Nixon-Kox

Same people.  You know Patricia just looked like a sweet lady.  In her red coat with the fur trim, that purse, the black gloves, black skirt, white nylons.  She just, I don’t know, took me back to a different era when I saw her.

Jordan, enjoying his second political rally in his life.

Can’t just get pictures of the politicians!  The media (and some campaign workers) – including Judy Woodruff

Senator Lindsay Graham thinks it’s too cold in Iowa.  LOL

More media – Tim Russert and Andrea Mitchell

Camera phones suck LOL

Senator McCain

Senator Brownback

They were funny.  But I think being charismatic is part of being a politician.

Look at that lens on the camera coming up off the bottom.  LOL  I’ve never been close enough to the media to drool over their equipment before.  There were people with like 4 rebels hanging off of them with different lenses on each of them.  Life as a photographer must be lucrative for some.  LOL

If you like the media part, there’s Andrea Mitchell again in the edge of the shot on the right.  That’s a photographer’s head right in front of me.  He was laughing at me, did you need me to move so that you can get a good picture with your phone?  Well, if you were carrying a Nikon instead of a Canon, I could borrow your battery so I could get a good picture.  Ha ha ha.  No really, he was nice.  LOL

Judy Woodruff again

Andrea Mitchell and Tim Russert

Introducing Senator McCain, see, I’m all backwards here.

Judy Woodruff

That’s all I got.  I know, that’s enough.  LOL  My battery on my phone was dying too.  Seriously kicking myself for not bringing my battery, when I charged it just for the occasion.  I could have had some killer pictures, front row seat?  It would have been awesome!  I didn’t even have to use zoom to get the pictures I got.  I think I’m sad now.  LOL

So, tonight is the caucuses.  My first.  I’m a caucus virgin.  LOL  But, I’ve heard the republican caucuses are easier than the democratic ones.  The republicans, we just mark down the name of the person we are supporting on a secret ballot.   And we are done.  The democrats have to find the part of the room that is for the person they are supporting.  If I candidate doesn’t get a certain percentage of the caucus goers votes, then I believe they are knocked out of that caucus, and people have to realign themselves.  Then somewhere along the line if it isn’t decided, people plead their case for their candidate.   Though my process is easier, I’m still nervous.  It feels like the first time I went to vote in 1996.  I was so scared I would make the wrong decision.  Or do the wrong thing.   We’re there again today.  Today I’m nervous I’ll be tardy.  ROFL  I’m silly I know.

Crud, I was going to make a graphic announcing my CT guests today.  But I forgot.  Plus, Kerry is contacting people to see if they want month spots also.  I had so many wonderful applicants and I just don’t ever want to turn anyone down.  :o )  So, I’ve got 4 full timers:

My 3 month people that I have chosen are

Laura

Tonje

Léa

Joni

(I’ll put a graphic up as soon as I get it done.)

So, congrats to them!  And I’m so excited that they will be joining me!  It was so hard to choose like I said, so if you applied, be looking for an email from Kerry, my head CT, she is going to be offering everyone who applied a month long guest spot.  We want everyone who wants to work with my stuff to get a chance to.

And, the coupon is valid for my store for a few more days:

Have you ever laughed so hard -

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 2 - 2008

your face hurt?  I don’t even remember what started it.  I was laying in bed with Pato and Alyce last night and she was flipping all over the bed, not wanting to sleep.  And something happened, she did something.  I just burst out laughing.  and COULDN’T STOP!  I’m serious, I must have been going for about 5 minutes.  I could not breathe by the time I finally got myself under control.  Pato was just staring at me.  He said, “Que Traes?”  (What is wrong with you?)  Over and over and over again.  Which would make me laugh even harder.  I had tears, I thought I was going to have an asthma attack, I could not stop.  Finally Alyce stopped throwing a fit and just started laughing with me.  ROFL  I think I was tired.  I don’t know, but I thought my face was going to crack in 2.  I just yawned and noticed it’s still a little sore.  LOL  There’s got to be some sort of health benefit to uncontrollable laughter, wouldn’t you think?  Oh Lord, I’m going to get started again.  No more talking about laughing.  LOL

Pato didn’t get Jordan’s loft bed set up yet.  But, it’s my fault.  It really is.  At 3 my mom called me and said, your dad and I are going to the casino?  Want to go?  Um, yeah.  LOL  So, I went, and lost, but was happy to get out.  Actually, I was winning til my  mom came over and saw I was winning.  (She was out of money)  She said, remember that $20 I loaned you a long time ago?  um, no.  LOL  So, I took my money out, went and got the change, gave her a $20, then sat back down to play, and it’s like the machine new I was gone.  I upset the delicate win balance.  ROFL  And so the winds shifted and I lost my winnings.  Oh well, you don’t go to the casino expecting to win, it’s a nice side bonus.  But, I didn’t get home til 8.  Jordan had his room cleaned.  But, Pato couldn’t go out to the garage to get the new bed with no one here to watch the girls.  Well, Jordan could, but he’s not great at paying attention to Alyce unless your standing over him.  He tends to forget you asked him to.  He’s only 8.  This is why they don’t recommend 8 year old baby sitters.  LOL  (I’ve never left the girls home with him, heck I don’t leave him alone at home.  This is from experience with say going to the bathroom or running down to the laundry room to switch loads and saying, Jordan, watch Alyce.)  So, Pato is going to tear Jordan’s bunk beds apart today and put up the loft bed.  Bring in Jordan’s desk.  Then rearrange his dresser and toy boxes (he’s got a chest and a HUGE rubbermaid tote) so he has room in there.  I’m trying to figure out how to arrange it because right now his toy chest and his dresser sit parallel to each other and we put his little TV on top of his dresser with the playstation on top of the chest, and he sits on the chest to play.  If he ever gets it back.  It was taken out for not listening.

You guys, it is so flipping cold here.

2 degrees right now.  See that windchill? feels like 0 he says.  And read what else he says, warmer than yesterday.  So, imagine me yesterday at the casino.  Well, leaving the casino.  I walked up and down the rows.  Could not remember for the life of me where I parked my van.  I was freezing.  What is it about jeans and cold weather?  They like freeze and get hard, and make you 10 times colder.  I finally found my car, right where I parked it.  ROFL

I always wonder when I go to a blog from another part of the world and they say how hot (this time of year) it is in Celsius.  So, just in case your wondering, I found a Celsius converter.  2 degrees Farenheit is -16.666666666666668 Celsius.  It’s cold.  LOL

First post of 2008!

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 1 - 2008

First, I’d like to say:

May 2008 be happy, heathy, and prosperous for you!  And safe!  :o

Whose got their new year’s resolutions done?  I never really technically do them because I always fail.  LOL  But, I think this year I’m really going to resolve to get on that lose the weight thing I’ve been trying to do since I got pregnant with Katiana, note – she’s my middle child. ROFL  So, no more fast food for me!  Ok, not as often.  And, I’m going to resolve to become even more knowledgeable about my program of choice so I can come up with even more beautiful things for us to work with!  And I want to make myself time to scrap my own personal projects more, and maybe even try to do a hybrid project!  What was the last one?  Oh!  I’m going to try not to let things stress me out so much.  LOL  Like my children.  ROFLMBO  Along those lines, I resolve – Kristine and Bunny – to let my fro go and dork dance as often as possible!  ROFL  That one I should be able to keep!

Last night’s chat was so much fun!  I’m so glad so many people could come!  I’ll ask you guys what I asked them:

What technique do you want to learn this year that you absolutely love?  (This might help me with PSP tutorial ideas!  LOL)

What did you learn this year in scrapping that you love?

That was  a fast fast chat last night!  LOL  I mean, it was an 8, but there were so many people, it was hard to keep track of everyone!  So, if I missed saying hello to you, may I say thank you for coming and it wasn’t intentional!  I promise!

Before I get on to other stuff, I have a New Year’s Coupon for you!

Code is HappyNY2U

50% off of your $10 order!  1 X use per customer, expires Jan 7.  So, Happy New Year!

ETA:  WARNING – Heather is going off on a political tangent.  Skip if you don’t like politics.  LOL

So, the last few days I’ve been making my decision for the Iowa caucuses coming up.  You must forgive me for going political for a second.  I’ve been watching Romney and Huckabee attempting to self destruct.  Romney is just doing so much negative campaigning and Huckabee was quite interesting yesterday.  I understand that he wants to defend himself against Romney.  Which is fine and dandy.  I would too.  But, yesterday he made a negative ad, right?  Then he calls a news conference so he can run the ad for the first time.  Then he changed his mind and says, I’m not going to run the ad on tv.  I promised Iowa I wouldn’t go negative, and I’m not going to do it.  THEN he says, but I’ll show you, this room full of reporters my negative ad, and then that’s it, it’ll never be seen again.  Like we republicans who are trying to decide who to caucus for can’t see right through the fact that of course the reporters are then going to tell us what the ad was about.  LOL  I feel for the man, I really do.  Not going to vote for him, but I feel for him.  I don’t like the way Romney is running his campaign either, and I really wish he’d stop sending me his mail.  LOL

I was torn between Giuliani and McCain.  And for me it’s all coming down to immigration.  And I’m throwing my caucus vote to McCain.  I hope I don’t alienate any of my readers here, because I promise you, I’m not going to be angry at you for having a different opinion than me.  LOL  Hopefully you’ll feel the same.  I actually like to discuss politics.  But, it’s a touchy subject so I stay away from it most of the time on my blog.  But, let me hear myself talk just for a few minutes, cuz I think I’m still working it out.  LOL  For me, whose husband is a Mexican immigrant, who knows more Mexicans any more than I do Americans.  LOL  Ok, that’s a bit of a stretch, it’s about even steven.  This whole immigration thing is not cut and dry.  I agree we need to secure the borders.  Completely and totally agree.  Not only do I not want terrorists getting in that way, but you have your gang members, drug dealers, etc, and that needs to stop.  You also have good people who can’t make it in Mexico trying to get over who are dying either from the desert, the river, or the coyote that brings them up.  I’ve seen too many stories of Mexicans trying to cross, being left in the back of trains or semis, and someone finds it and it’s full of people who have died.  It’s too dangerous.  But, you have the 85 year old grandmother who has been here for 30 years.  Maybe her husband died, and she came over to try to make a good life for her kids.  Most people don’t understand that our quota system is so outdated.  We have this thing in place from DECADES ago, so many people from so many countries are let in.  And there is an allotment for each country.  And it hasn’t been revised in decades.  Young males Pato’s age – getting a visa for them is near impossible.

Let me tell you about Pato’s dad.  He’s in his 50′s.  Has diabetes.  Is dying from it.  He’s on dialysis.  He’s had numerous eye surgeries.  Can’t hardly walk anymore.  Has to drive a few hours each way to get his dialysis treatments – or any treatments for that matter, and the treatments are not up to par with what he would receive here.  He applied for a medical visa.  He needs treatment that he could get here.  Guess what?  Denied.  It’s not right.

After the border is secured, we need to revise the immigration law.  We need to make it more possible for people who genuinely want to be here, who want to contribute, who want to pay taxes, who would be proud to be an American, we need to make it POSSIBLE for them to come into our country.  We need to let immigration officials crack down on the drug dealers, the murderers, the gang members, they need to be able to get them out of here.  Instead of releasing them back into the general population because they are so busy having to deport the professor whose visa has expired.   Immigration also needs to be able to deal with illegals here participating in identity theft.  That’s a crime that should not be happening.  It is very very easy to get an employee identification number to pay your taxes on.  A legitimate one.  One that does not involve stealing an American’s SSN.  I don’t think most of the illegals here know that you don’t have to be legal to get your EIN.  The government wants everyone here, legal or illegal to pay their taxes.  LOL     They will happily take your money.  LOL

Do I condone illegal immigration?  No.  Do I understand why people are resorting to it?  Yes.  I understand because I see good people every day, I know good people who just want to take care of their families.  I’ve been over the border, right over the border where there are boxes lined up along the River.  Those boxes are people’s homes.  They don’t have the chances in Mexico to make money to take care of their families like their are chances here.  And they want to take care of their children, their families, just like every American wants to take care of their own.  Their is so much corruption, greed, etc, people who enjoy their wealth in Mexico, however they got it, that they aren’t willing to change the way things are.

So, now that I’ve journaled my way through my decision, I’m definitely swinging my caucus vote to McCain.  Although, if Giuliani gets the nomination, I’ll be ok with that.  I called both Giuliani and McCain’s office yesterday to find out exactly where they both stood on these issues, and I was invited to a party at McCain’s office tomorrow night.  LOL   I think I will go.  I just really think that McCain has a lot of integrity.  He doesn’t go with the masses just because it’s popular to swing that way.  I think he really goes with what he believes and that makes me feel good.

Ok, I hope I didn’t make any of you all say, not going back to Heather’s blog.  ROFL  I really don’t do that often, I just needed to do it today.  Must be the caucuses coming up, or the fact that it’s all I see on TV and radio.  It’s on my mind.  A lot.  You could call me a flip flopper.  LOL  The way I’ve been going back and forth between my 2 top choices.  I keep calling my mom saying, ok, what do you think about this?  Cuz I think I think this.  ROFL

Anyways, have a wonderful happy safe new year!!!!
