Oh – The Hair Saga continues then ends

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 30 - 2008

So, I called the salon where I got my hair cut yesterday, and told you all that the manager wasn’t in.  AGH!  I called another salon of the same name, and they told me to call the National Toll Free Number for Regis Salons.  After explaining what happened to them on the phone, they are sending me a check to refund my money for all 3 hair cuts.  Thank goodness!

So, I talked to my neighbor who kept on eye on Jordan while I went off to get my hair cut, again.  First, I went to the salon that I had called and who had gave me the national number.  It was the same lady working as who I talked to on the phone.  I must have really ticked her off explaining the situation on the phone or something because WOW!  I showed her the picture and she said, Well, first, your hair is never going to look like that.  You have way more hair than she does.  And I’m talking she didn’t say this like in a constructive criticism type of way, it was said with attitude spilling out all over the desk.  And second, the reason her hair looks like that is because of the special products she buys for her hair.  Ok, I don’t want the exact same hair cut.  I want as close as I can get with my hair type.  And I realize she uses a lot of product on her hair, I have a lot of product.  Can’t do my hair like this because there was too much hair left.  It seriously looked like one of my kids had cut the back of my hair and that I just left the sides like they were.  Then I told her that she wouldn’t even cut Katiana’s bangs.  She looked at Kat and said her bangs look fine.  I said, I have them pulled back in a barrette so she can see.  And then I left.  No way was I going to let her work on my hair.

So, we drove around trying to find a place without a huge wait because Jordan was sick at home.  And I finally went to Cost Cutters.  Thank you God for Stacey at Cost Cutters.  What a sweet heart!!!!  I walked in and I said, can you fix us?  Please?  And she said, I think I can fix you, what do you want done?  LOL  I showed her the picture.  I said we both wanted that, but I wanted Kat’s modified because I didn’t want it too short.  No Problem!

Man, she had Katiana giggling the whole time.  She was so gentle with her.  She did have to cut it shorter than I wanted because of how the lady had cut it the night before, but she asked me before she did it and explained why.  And she trimmed her bangs.  LOL  I need to take a picture of Kat today.  So cute!  And Kat loves it.

Then she went and got Katiana a couple of toys, and got one for Alyce and started on my hair.  Even wet, half way through, it looked so much more like what I wanted than what I had.  I asked her is this that complicated of a hair cut?  She said, well, yes it’s fairly hard, but it takes a lot of time.  And it sounds like the woman who cut your hair last night didn’t want to take that time.  It took her 45 minutes to fix my hair, and there was more hair under the chair when she got done then after my hair cut where she cut off all the length in the back the night before.

She told me with Kat’s hair, when it’s time for a trim to just have them barely trim the sides, and to trim the back so that the front was more noticeable.   I said, do you have a card?  LOL  So, Stacey is now in charge of cutting our hair from now on.  She got a large tip from me for fixing us.  LOL  Oh, I felt so much better.  I need to get a good picture of it so that you guys can see the difference.  It’s so fun!  And PATO LIKED IT!!!  The man who doesn’t ever want me to get a hair cut loved my new cut.  I really thought it would make my face chubbier, but it didn’t.  YAY!  It’s just so fun, and chunky, and what I wanted.  Yippie!

And I will never ever ever got to a salon again owned by Regis.  I’m sure there are good stylists at some of them, but after the experience I had with 2 salons in 2 days, nope, never going back.

Update on our Ohio trip.  I just told Pato that if it is still this cold tonight, we are not going.  Diane – I need an update on what the weather is going to be like in Ohio this weekend.  It got down to -30 something last night with the windchill, and I’m not willing to risk my car freezing or something malfunctioning in the motor because of the cold, and then being stuck outside with a 1, 3, and 8 year old.  I was actually shocked when he agreed with me.  I thought he’d say, oh, nothing will happen to the car.  But, I think he realizes how dangerous it would be if something happened.  I do hope it warms up though.  He really wants to see his sisters.

Too bad it couldn’t have stayed up at 50 degrees like it was the day before yesterday.  That would have been a wonderful temperature to drive in.  But alas, so goes living in the midwest.

Regis you say? Remember my hair horror story from yesterday? Well guess where I got my haircut…yep, Regis!!! I wanna see pictures of your new dos! I’m always inspired by fun shorter cuts, but also always too terrified to deviate from my long hair I’ve had since I was like 10, lol. Hey, I do mix it up every now and again and put some layers in there. :)

    Yay for Stacey!

Heather, I live in Cincinnati. Twelve hours ago it was 55 degrees. Now here at 10:00am, it’s 15 and windy. Cooooooollllllld, but beautiful.

I’m so glad you stood your ground at Regis. I’ve never heard of em, I bet they go by another name here. I have had a hellva time finding a good stylist here and therefore my hair looks like crap. Maybe I can sneak in to my old stylist when I’m in Detoit this weekend. I’ve done that in the past, drive 200 miles for a haircut.

Ok weather report for the day (even though you didn’t send me your route here, lol). Winds are dying down, Thur. cold by not frigid. Snow on Friday, cold Sat. & Sun. typical Feb. weather for ohio. If you want a better forecast go to http://www.nbc4i.com/midwest/cmh/home.html

Have a good one and stay safe.

Yikes…I am just so glad that you found a great person to fix your hair!

Glad you got your hair fixed. It took me 10 years to find someone who can cut my hair, and that’s where my in laws live. Sometimes I drive 2 1/2 hours just for a haircut, but the kids get to see Nana and Poppy, so everyone wins.

  7. Tammy says:

oh my gosh Heather!! I know what its like not to get that right hair cut. I have very thick hair, so the cut can be off a bit, but I also have very short hair and how hard is it to get that job done!!

I’m glad you stood up to them and made your point.

I wanna see your hair! Yes, I’ve heard that the Victoria Beckham bob is one of the toughest cuts to get right. I hate mall haircut places, just for the reasons you’ve said. I have weird hair, there’s tons of it but it’s fine, and nobody believes me when I tell them that it’s gonna take awhile to cut it right. At the mall=15 minutes they take. But if I go spend $35 someplace good, it takes like 1 1/2 hours LOL! Consequently, I get a haircut like once a year. LOL
Were you gonna go see Diane in OH? That should be FUN FUN FUN, if the weather cooperates. Hey, I’m only 500 miles away, someday I should join you all! I’m only in KS.
Okay, enuff of this, I need to do your challenge! HERE I GO>

  9. Jane says:

Oh my goodness! When I find a good one like Stacey apparently is I stick with them! Been known to follow them when they move to different salon’s too.

  10. Kari says:

OH I am SO not blaming you! There’s this chick back home in Alabama, every time I’m in ‘Bama, I get my hair done. I started going to Therese when I was pregnant with Shane (he’s 13 now) & I trust that woman completely. I’ve got a girl here I like, but nobody comes close to Therese. As soon as I find out we’ll be in Montgomery, I’m calling for my appointment. lol She gave Shane & Sean their first haircuts. Only reason she didn’t get Justin’s was he wasn’t sitting by himself when we were there. lol

OMG, yeah, it’s freakin COLD. I took Sean to the bus stop this morning wrapped up in a blanket. lol Is it time to go to Florida yet?

  11. Monique says:

Oh what a hair nightmare! I’m so glad you got it all fixed and found yourself a great new stylist to do it regularly! But we need pics girl! Show us what all that work produced! Take care! :-)
