If you haven’t read this post yet, you don’t know what happened to Alyce and me yesterday. The condensed version is that I fell while I was holding her, not once, but twice yesterday. Due to our apartments inability to get rid of ice. I talked to the nurse about the way she was behaving (Alyce, not the nurse LOL) and she told me to go ahead and bring her in. Well, all the doctors were booked for the rest of the day, and the guy in the walk in was the one who misdiagnosed Kat and myself, not once, but a few times. I asked if I could wait til after 5 when the doctors in the walk in traded places, and she said yes, but should she not want to wake up, start throwing up, just call an ambulance. Well, that’s reassuring.
So, we went. She is fine, which is what I suspected. But I couldn’t figure out why she was behaving like she was. (Those of you who read my blog a lot know that Alyce is not a quiet docile child. LOL If she’s miserable, the world needs to know about it, not just those of us living in her midst.) She said that her face was swollen. Feel my heart speed up there? I know she didn’t hit her face when I fell. She’s had a little runny nose, but nothing to be concerned about. I’ve been chalking it up to teething. You know how they drool and get runny noses, some get ear infections, etc because there little faces are so small everything is pushing about against their sinuses and other good face parts. Well, the doctor said she is starting to get really congested (I haven’t heard any stuffed up nose, where are the symptoms Alyce? I can’t know your sick if you don’t show any!) and that she looks like she is going into a bad cold. Her ears are fine right now, but watch them because she may go into an ear infection. And it’s just a big old coincidence that this all hits here right after I fell twice with her. Well, thank you, I don’t like that kind of coincidence. I wouldn’t take her to the doctor normally just for a cold unless she started tugging on her ears or started running a high fever, was inconsolable – and usually when Alyce is inconsolable, she throws the mother of all tantrums. Not just lay there and look at me. Wierd. But, the good news is, no brain trauma, and that’s all I wanted to double check on. (Like say from the jolt of me hitting the ground.)
I didn’t check myself in, but she wanted to look at my knees. She said that I needed to ice them and if they swell any more to wrap them. Fun fun. They still hurt like a – um – they hurt this morning. LOL Keep it rated G over here.
How about day 2 of the Christmas pictures? These are pictures of my kids opening their presents. You think there’s a lot here, you should see how many more are on my hard drive. LOL I took a lot of pictures. It was hard to choose. Well, not so hard to choose with Jordan because he refused to put pants on under my t-shirt I got him to put on. Don’t need pictures of him in his underwear on the net.
)
Katiana, investigating her stocking.
Getting into his stocking
With her My Little Pony movie, one of 3 she got of the ponies – I found them on Amazon for less than $3.00 each.
Jordan with one of his game boy games he got.
Not sure what she has here – I think it’s one of the books that was in her stocking maybe?
The annual cabbage patch kids. I get one for each of the girls every year. (This year Alyce got to, because I found one on sale at Walmart for $10 the day after Thanksgiving)
Kat opening her cabbage patch kid.
Trying to start Strawberry Shortcake with her key. This is before she climbed on the box, attempted to stand up, then crashed and burned.
The favorite Christmas present (well this connected to the Spi-Dog), He LOVES his MP3 player.
Kelly’s Tree House
Not sure what she is opening here. Actually, I think it’s the set of Kelly Dolls from the shape of the present.
The I love my sister picture
Checking out what the other kids are opening while opening hers.
Off to investigate her sibling’s toys
Ok, I love this picture of Jordan. He’s not making a goofy face, unfortunately when he was younger, he ripped apart the bottom of the top bunk mattress. That’s a piece of it hanging down in his face. Nice huh? I’m not so good at photo restoration that I could get that out.
Kat with the carebear Jordan got her for Christmas. (He got each of the girls one.)
Alyce LOVES this toy. It’s a cookie jar shape sorter. Who knew it would be her favorite? She can actually put the shapes in already if you hold the jar with the right hole up to her. I didn’t think she’d be able to do that for awhile. And she had the circle in all by herself when I went to help her.
So there is the morning of opening presents. They had so much fun! Now to figure out where to put all of it. It’s just kind of stacked in their rooms. I need to go in and rearrange for the big stuff.
Pato is getting Jordan’s loft bed today. He’ll put that up on Wednesday and bring in Jordan’s desk we got that has been stored in the garage for lack of room. Then we’ll rearrange his toy boxes and stuff. Hopefully it’ll make his room more organized. Plus, he can’t shove everything under his bed anymore. ROFL We’ll catch him doing it.
Today we have Christmas on my dad’s side. No presents thank goodness! My kids have enough to play with. Just a day of eating and seeing people we don’t get to see that often. I need to charge my battery before we go. Must get pictures of Grandma. I don’t have any recent ones of my grandpa on my dad’s side. I don’t know why I never took my camera over. And now it’s too late to take pictures of him. So, I need to get some of my grandma. Time is too short.
I have a Christmas “Clearance” going out right now at PDW and at DSN.

Glad to hear that the fall didn’t contribute to Alyce’s reaction. Now she has to deal with a cold and teething, poor thing. Hope you’re knee is feeling better too. Great pictures!!!
Oh, Heather I’m so sorry to hear about your misadventures on the slick ice! The story makes me wince! I hope you and Alyce are feeling better very soon! I don’t know if it would help, but I keep a big cheap bottle of salt for sprinkling on the steps and walkway. I haven’t priced any in a while, but it seemed to me to be around $.25.
The Christmas photos are adorable and the kids look like they cleaned up from Santa.
Glad you’re both ok – although it sounds like you should be off your feet as much as possible…
Great pics! Hope you have a good day, and grab all the photos you can! [hugs]
