Not Everyone's Mama

Well, after much convincing yesterday, I finally got her to put the thermometer under her tongue.  I told her if it hurt, she could take it right out. 

Her temp was 103.  I’m thinking she was hotter than that because well, my thermometer kept reading really low under her arm pit.  And when I took my own temperature it was reading low.  I know my temp is not 96.3.  LOL  I gave her some ibuprofin and called the doctor to see if I should take her in last night or make an appointment for today.  Her doctor was gone but his nurse told me to bring her into the walk in, just to make sure it wasn’t strep throat.  (She was complaining of a sore throat)   Poor things got an ear infection.  I was surprised.  Usually she runs a lower fever with an ear infection.  But, that’s what it was.

She got up at 2 burning up again.  Pato gave her some advil (I had given her a dose of tylenol 2 hours earlier, piggy backing the doses.) and gave her the second dose of her antibiotics.  I was getting ready to give her a luke warm bath when she fell back to sleep.

When I got up at 7, she still felt hot but cooler that earlier, but she’s still in that time frame for the ibuprofin to still be working.

Then I felt Alyce, and I’m hoping it’s just from the blankets, but she felt just as hot as Katiana had felt.  Please don’t let me have ANOTHER sick kid.  Jordan was home from school Wednesday, Kat started getting sick that night, I don’t want Alyce to be sick today. 

Oh well, at least we know what it is.

Pato just came out and told me Alyce is now really hot too.  Probably another trip to the doctor in my future. 

Do you know how I just had to get Kat to take her medicine?  I had to bribe her with gummy bears and jelly bellys.  Ugh!  It was just so much easier than making her scream and holding her down when she feels this bad.

I’ve got an overlay up for you on Scrap Your Art Out today.  With the kids being sick most of the week I didn’t have time to do a tutorial.  I hope the overlay will get you through!  LOL

Ok, I’m gonna get to work while Alyce is sleeping!

Jordan was feeling better last night, so we decided to go grab a bite to eat and go try to get one of our cars that Pato loaned to someone and who didn’t feel the need to return it.  (LONG story)  Well, the car was at his house, but the key wasn’t there, even though when I went to his work in the morning, he swore he didn’t have the key on him and showed me his key chain.  Pato is going to Chevy today with the title to get a copy made, and then we’re going to go get it.  My way involved taking the cops to his work like I told him I would if he didn’t have the car in my parking lot last night like I told him too, but Pato always tries to do things without causing a big scene.  What’s wrong with him?  LOL

Anyways, so first we went out to eat, while there, Kat started acting like she didn’t feel good.  Wouldn’t eat, laid down on Pato’s lap and went to sleep.  We got the kids in the car and left to go get the Tracker.  On the way, I look to the side of me at a stop light and I just started rolling.

We were in this area that’s kind of run down.  And there was this business called Tub Shine.  It was one of those places you can’t even be sure if it’s open from the way the store front looks.

In the big front window, they had a shower stall.  And it didn’t look like a good shower stall.  LOL  It was built into a wood box.  That wasn’t what was so funny.  What was funny was that there was a naked mannequin taking a shower.  She was sitting all cockeyed like she was falling over.  And her wig was starting to come off.  She had one hand raised up over her head like she was washing her hair and a towel over her um – do mannequins have private areas?  That was where the towel was. 

I forgot I had my camera in my book bag until we pulled away.  I said, “I want to take a picture of that for my blog.”  Pato said, “You’re crazy.”  I said, no for real, I want to take a picture, go back.  He said he wasn’t turning around for me to take a picture of a naked mannequin in a shower.  ROFL  Again, what is wrong with him?  LOL  A picture is worth a thousand words.  If I could have gotten one, you all would have been rolling right along with me!  LOL

Ok, so we’re on our way home and Pato has to go to the bathroom, we stop at a gas station.  Jordan says, I have to go.  Kat says, I have to go too.  Alyce was sleeping.  I was so thrilled to be sitting there in my car with the baby in the worst side of Des Moines.   At night.  By myself.  I called Blythe and I was telling her about the mannequin when the phone beeps, I look and said, I’ll call you back, Pato’s calling me from the bathroom.  We both start rolling again, I think we’re just a couple of silly women.  LOL  I answered the phone and it’s Katiana.  She was crying, Mom, I just threw up.  Pato said she didn’t even make it to the bathroom, she threw up in an empty card board box in the hallway by the bathroom.  He apologized to the crispy kreme donut man who was back there.  LOL  Poor thing.  She felt warm when we got home.  I gave her some tylenol.  Then at 5 this morning she got up crying and I felt her, she was so hot.  Yet the thermometer under the arm pit said her temp was only 99.3.  Then I took mine under the arm pit like I did hers and it said mine was 96.1.  LOL  Does that mean my thermometer is broke?  It’s newer too.  Pato grabbed it the store when Alyce was sick and I couldn’t find the ear one.  It needs new batteries now that I found it.  I swear her temp had to have been at least 103.  She was hot enough that I was worried about her.  More tyenol and some apple juice and she went right back to sleep.  If it goes back up today I’ll throw her in a lukewarm bath.  She’s complaining that her tummy hurts right now and she needs some more bubblegum medicine.  Cept the bubblegum medicine is tylenol and doesn’t help with nausea. 

Jordan tried to tell me he was sick still this morning.  He just didn’t want to get up because he is bouncing all over the place, not sick at all right now.  Hopefully since he’s better, this is just a 24 hour bug that Kat has.

I just realized that today would be my grandpa’s birthday.  And that this month, he’s been gone from this world for 2 years.  So, I need to use my in memory stuff that I made for him today.

I made these and used them as my email siggies for a long time after he died.  I still miss him so much.

And the most recent picture I have of my grandparents together.  My grandma died when I was 14, and this was taken before that.  I miss them both so much.  I lived with them when I was younger and they were such a big part of my life.  I felt like a part of me was ripped out when each of them passed away.

Sending a kiss for each of them up to heaven.

Ok, now I just depressed myself.  And I’m gonna be sniffling all morning.

I promised Blythe I would tell you about my not so brilliant thing I did last night.  She said she would if I didn’t.  LOL

So, we went to soccer practice last night.  And at the end, both of the kids had to go to the bathroom.  I drove Jordan over to the kybo, but Kat has a huge phobia about kybos.  She hates them (do you blame her?)  The first time I took her in one, she looked down the hole and FLIPPED out.  I had to hold her above it so she could go and she refuses to go now.

I said, can you hold it til we get home (a 5 minute drive)?  No, I have to go now!!!  Then you’re going to have to go in the kybo!  She started crying and screaming about the kybo.  So, I’m desperate.  I looked in my car and I had my glass of Mr Pibb – that was still half full mind you, and an old McDonald’s sack.  Well, I still wanted to drink my Mr Pibb.  You can see where this is going.  Seriously probably my least brilliant thing I’ve ever done. 

I grabbed the McDonald’s bag and stood her right in the corner between the open door and the car, and I stood in front of her.  Now, in my defense, I did make sure the napkins were all spread out on the bottom.  I pulled her pants down and shoved the bag in between her legs and said, Go.  She started giggling, but went.  It was going so well.  Really it was.  Til she said, I’m done!  I went to pull the bag out and it split down the side.  Pee all over my hands. 

Now, ask me if I grabbed the diaper bag on the way out the door?  No!  We were just going to be gone an hour and 15 minutes, so I just grabbed a diaper.  So, I had no wipes, no hand sanitizer, no bathroom nearby to wash my hands.  Just me and pee dripping off of my hands. 

I disposed of the bag in a garbage, and stood there with my hands.  I was like, ok, now what?  Well, I kind of let them air dry.  Then, I got in the car and called Blythe and told her.  She was rolling.  And the whole time I’m sitting here going, um, my face itches.  I’m not touching my face.  Why, why do things start to itch when you have pee all over your hands?

When we got home, I ran in the house and sprinted toward the bathroom, still on the phone with Blythe, stuck my hands under that sink, piled on tons of soap and sang happy birthday to her while I washed my hands for a long time.  EW!

Last time I let one of my kids pee into a paper bag.  Might have been smarter to lose the Mr Pibb.  ROFL

Gotta tell you that I received the neatest little present in my email this morning!  My CT member Kerry is a guest for Vera Lim this month.   She knows I’ve been stressing about something the last few days so to make me feel better, she and Vera sent me a $10 Gift Certificate to Vera’s store.  How sweet is that? 

I got Butterfly Life, Date Stamps, and Embellished Notepapers.  They are so beautiful!  So again, thank you!

With their eyes closed – and of course if they were the same age, they could be twins.  All daddy in those 2.  It’s when they open their eyes and you see Kat’s dark dark brown eyes and Alyce’s light light blue eyes that it kind of makes you do a double take when they are together.  )

Have you ever had one of those days where you woke up just feeling blah?  That’s me today.

Jordan won’t get in the shower.  We’re arguing.  The baby is crying.  Pato is complaining and changing her diaper.  Usually she sleeps later than this.  Pato’s not a fan of getting up early, but I don’t feel to sorry for him seeing as I found a beer can, an empty bottle of jack, and an empty bottle of hennesy in the garbage this morning.  (I don’t know how much was in them to begin with, I doubt they were full bottles.)  But, if he’s got a hang over, it’s his own fault, and he just has to deal.

Ok, now I have Alyce.  She’s playing with her new Winnie the pooh.  It’s so cute.  I got it at this place called the Turtle Hut.  It’s a consignment store for kids.  I stopped their on Saturday after the soccer game because SOMEBODY wet her pants and it wasn’t me.  We had to go to my grandma’s and I didn’t want to stop at home.

You squeeze his little tummy and his face lights up and a lullaby starts to play.  She loves to hug him.  LOL

And since I couldn’t just get one kid something, I got Katiana this –

Katiana is a strawberry shortcake addict.  I’m telling you.  This little doll is $64.95 on Amazon.  Guess how much I paid for it at the turtle hut?  $4.99.  She’s been begging for it the last couple of times we went in, and I didn’t have enough cash to get all 3 kids something, so this time I grabbed it.  She was THRILLED!

And Jordan, he got this:

Yep, thought it was a good deal!  $5.00.  Not bad?  Right?  He’s been begging for a camera and I thought he could use this til his spiderman digital camera on a key chain I got him for Christmas gets here.  (Or Christmas gets here)  Yep, he snapped 6 pics right away, so I start looking at film.  The film averages $10/10 pictures.  AGH!  Jordan, treat that film like gold man!  My gosh.  I’m so used to my digital and not having to develop anything but exactly what I need, I’m not used to paying for film.

Oh wait, but there’s a funny story before he actually got to snap pics.  LOL  It wouldn’t work, so we are all trying to tear this camera apart to find out where to put batteries.  I’m serious, my mom, my dad, my sister, my brother in law, myself, Jordan – we were ready to crack the thing open with a screw driver.  And Jordan was getting mad “cuz the stupid thing didn’t work”.

Finally we get home and I look up a manual on the internet.  Nothing, doesn’t have anything on batteries.  Well crap.  So, I said, call you dad.  He used to have a polariod.  So he calls his dad and he’s asking, and his dad must not have realized Jordan was talking about batteries and not film.  So I thought.  Cuz he said, there’s a button to slide, front pops out.  I grabbed the phone, Not the film, batteries!  He said, polaroid?  Yes.  Heather, the battery is in the film.  What?  There’s film in the camera.  Was it sitting awhile?  I don’t know.  Probably.  Battery packs die Heather.  Oh, Jordan bring me your other film.  I inserted it, pop pop whirrrrrr, click.  Yep, it works.  LOL

So, Jordan is happy.
