Now, can I vent a little. My brother’s ex-wife called my mom the other day to ask if she could have my brother get a hold of her. (Their house phone is off and they are just using his girlfriend’s [of like 3 years] cell phone) There seems to be a problem when the ex-wife calls the phone. And she has to discuss things regarding their daughter. My mom asked her what was wrong? And she went into detail about how Syndey doesn’t want to go to my brother’s, she cries, she throws a fit, she doesn’t want to go, because his girlfriend can be not so nice to Syd. And she favors her own daughter with my brother, BIG TIME! Anybody can see this, I’ve noticed it for a long time, my sister, my sister n law, my mother, we’ve all noticed.
There was a whole bunch of stuff that my mom didn’t know was going on. So, she calls my brother. And tells her what is going on. And of course, he is blind, he doesn’t see it, his girlfriend is perfect. And she can hear from Steve’s responses that it has to do with her. So, in the background she’s running her mouth – and this girl can run it. I HATE it when her and my brother fight in front of my kids. They learn some new language skills when that happens. She’s not going to my parents house any more, the ex wife is psycho…pot meet kettle. My gosh.
So, yesterday, my mom called my brother’s girlfriend to smooth things over. (Oh one of the things Steve’s ex-wife wanted to know was why they couldn’t check in to putting my neice on their Y membership so she could go to tumbling with my other neice – Steve’s ex wife just had a new baby, and with the housing slump, her husband’s business isn’t going well, and they had to take my neice out of dance.) His girlfriend yelled in the background, SHE’S NOT MY KID! So, my mom was trying to tell her that she is the closest she could be to Sydney’s step mom without marrying my brother. We consider her to be Sydney’s step mom. And would it hurt to check at the Y, try to be a little gentler with Syd, etc. Well, Angie just got a little snotty with my mom, and when my mom hung up she said, I really hope you have a better day today. (And she wasn’t being sarcastic – if you know my mom she is all about resolving problems). That was it.
My brother’s girlfriend calls my other brother’s wife and starts bragging about how big and bad she is to my mom. Yeah, and she told me that she hoped I had a better day than she did, and I said, yeah if people like you would stay out of my F**** business. GRRRR!
Then, she said to my brother – and let me start this saying that my mom does take pain killers, she has 5 herniated – bulging discs in her spine (I’m not sure how many of each). She said to my brother, I don’t know if your mom is on her medication or what, but she was being a b**** today. EXCUSE ME? My mom’s medication doesn’t make her loopy. She doesn’t want to see me any time soon, cuz while my mom is all about resolving problems the nice way – and I’m normally one who hates confrontation, mess with my mom, I dare you. It’s gonna get ugly if she actually shows up tonight to the family dinner my mom had planned.
Really, I don’t think I’m big and bad, but it really makes me mad when someone hurts my mom. She had my mom crying last night and that’s not cool.
Since I didn’t get to post in the blog train yesterday – speaking of which, I can get in now! Woohoo! I’m going to show my new stuff again!

You talking about your Bro’s lovely little lady reminds me of my Hubby’s family.. there’s always some kind of drama with them. Now my family, they may not show emotions (his family is Italian,Catholic and East Coast, and mine is Germanic, WASPY and West coast with all the stereotypes that implies) but they don’t get up to drama. My side of the family, when unpleasantness happens we just pretend not to notice. Not so great if you need some support, but there is def not anybody yelling in the background of phone calls!
Here’s hoping your bro will wake up, and the poor kids don’t suffer too much. Argh.

What a difficult situation for you and your family, especially your poor mom. I hope that things settle down soon. Congrats again on the new store…I’m off to take a closer look at all the new goodies!
I am so sorry to hear about your family issues. Its a shame when people just keep hurting those that they love and those that are around them ((hugs)) I wish I had words of wisdom and encouragement to you other than you are a good woman and I hope that your brother can learn a few things from you.

Hey Lady! All I can say is I’m so sorry and I can empathize completely! Take what you described with the following subs: My sis has the psycho ex (1 child) and now a new husband (baby twins)…they live with my parents and my sis is HORRIBLE to my mom – and I’m like you – mess with my mommy and it’s on. Her ex is awful, but she and her new man and being awful too. And, she uses my parents and little bro as her personal free baby-sitting service and personal assistant (read slave)…I get so frustrated! But, mom says she won’t do much (read boot her ungrateful butt out) ‘cuase of the kids. Grrrr…… Plus, the poor kids – I can’t imagine how your neices must feel – both of them, just breaks my heart! So, I’m sending you big hugs, lots of patience, and the strength to deal with the situation. I guess Kris and I need to speed up that trip to Iowa (we’ll bring Ladybug along too)!
