What a Chat!

Posted by Heather On October - 25 - 2007

I can not believe how many people made it to the chat last night!  Even with it needing to change venues!  You like me, you really like me!  ROFL  Thank you so much again for coming!  I had a blast!

Your thank you gift with the link is in the post below, just remember the password from the chat.  If you don’t remember, leave me a note here and I’ll get it to you!  (or email me)

Does anyone else have this problem?  Pato and I separated out the Christmas presents last night.  To make sure all were there – which not including the one that was stolen from my door – I’m still waiting on Kat’s new High – 5 DVD that isn’t released until November.  It’ll be shipped then.  The oldest 2 still believe in Santa Clause.  Which is fine.  Jordan questioned it once, and I didn’t want to outright, straight up lie (yes, I know for you sticklers, WAIT – CHRISTMAS SPOILER!

Santa Clause isn’t exactly real in the beginning ).  I said, Santa Clause is only real to those who believe in him.   He was fine with that.  So, we’re good.

So, what do you do when one kid wants to know why the other kid gets more presents, because the first kid’s presents were more expensive, because they are older and they wanted cool techno gadgets like – an mp3 player, a spidey i dog, an air hog?  Last year he questioned me – because again, Kat’s stuff tends to run cheaper – strawberry shortcake doesn’t cost as much as an MP3 player – except for Orange Blossom who finally came out this year, and she has been waiting with baited breath for her, and she was flippin’ $25 for this little smaller in height than a barbie doll, but seriously, if she could only have one present that is the one she would probably pick.  Anyways, back to Jordan – he said why does Kat get more presents?  Cuz yours are more expensive.  But, if Santa makes them, it shouldn’t matter how much they cost does it?  Oh come on, technicalities.  Well Jordan, sometimes the elves can’t make everything.  It has to be bought, and he likes to keep track of that and make it fair.

Once again, this year – Jordan’s presents cost the same as Kat’s, but Kat has about 5 more.  And poor Alyce.  If I used all of her presents for Christmas, she’d have the same as the other 2, BUT, I was going to split them up between her birthday (Dec 2 – I KNOW, Can you believe it??? She’s going to be 1 in a little over a month!) and Christmas.  Well, I took 4 of the presents and set them aside for her birthday, and Pato is going to get her a gold ID bracelet for her birthday, like he did for Kat’s 1st birthday.  (She still wears it, it’s so pretty, the letters are built onto it, raised, not engraved…I’ll have to take a picture sometime.) and he said he’d grab her something else.  But, it never works out evenly.  The girls are so much easier for me to get presents for.  Is that cuz I’m a girl?  or is that cuz Jordan doesn’t want as many toys now, he wants gadgets.  And I got the mp3 player, and the little spiderman idog thingy, and the spiderman digital camera on a key chain (he may want tech stuff – but he’s 8 – I’m not spending over $20 on a digital camera for him – he still breaks stuff. LOL)

I can tell this is gonna be a typical long Heather post…can’t you?

I have to tell you one thing my sweet (when she wants to be) 3 year old, Katiana said.   I told them before Christmas get here, we are going to go through their rooms and get rid of broken toys and toys that they don’t play with anymore.  We could take the non-broken ones down to a woman’s shelter for kids who are there to play with.  And Kat said, or we could take them to the hosibal (hospital) for sick kids to play with.  Isn’t that sweet?  We have a children’s hospital here, and when I’ve had to take the kids to the ER, they always have a trolly thing they bring around full of toys so the kids can play and not think about being sick so much.  I told her that was an excellent idea and maybe we could split them up between the 2 places so lots of kids could have toys to play with.  Isn’t she sweet?  How many 3 year olds (who haven’t been to the hospital for a long time) would come up with that?  Makes me heart happy!

ETA!  I forgot to tell you the monkey’s new name!  chigirl was the winner with the name Doodles!  I thought all the names were fabulous, but this one just spoke to me, fit my monkey, and scrapping!  Thanks for playing.  Everyone received an email from me this morning who played (Minus Carol, yours came back to me – even when I take all of the attachments off.  Do you have another email addy I can use to send you the quick page?)

Ok, now to lengthen the post even more!  I’ve opened my grab bags, all the products are in the store individually, but I’ve decided to leave the grab bags up for a couple more days.  So, if you just want one of the products you could grab that, or grab the bag!

Here’s what was in the personal grab bag:

(Click on them to go see them in the store)

And the Commercial Bag:

If you missed the chat last night, you can still get the brag book QPs!  They are now in the store!

And check out my newest paper pack!

How groovy are you? Are you groovy enough for these black light papers?

These papers take me way back – to my brother’s house – wait, that was just the other day – he still has those posters! They look like those velvet black posters. When you shine a black light on them, they glow! Just like those!

Add a little fun, a little funky, and a lot of groovy to your layouts with these fun pages! Every paper is different!

Ok, that’s quite enough from me!  LOL  Have a great day!

Morning! I used to have all my Christmas shopping done by Thanksgiving – that was pre-kids. Now I’m lucky to have finished it by Dec 1st! LOL

  2. HapEScrapr says:

My mom alwasy threw in stuff like candy and socks to even it out. If he complains, just tell him if he wants the same number then some will be big and others small. My mom also used to say the the techno gifts take more time so Santa and the elves have to contract out!;)

  3. Side by Side says:

Kudos to you for getting you shopping done.
I have my Mattel returned toys credit I need to use…and then who knows.

Yeah for Kat for being so wise about her toys! My girls just want to sell them at a Garage sale ;0 lol

  4. Carol says:

Hi Heather. Love your monkey’s name even if it wasn’t my idea *smile*. Here is another email address you can use for me. It should work better. Thanks for all you do for us. Great site.

Great chat last night girlie! Yes, they really, really like you!
I’ve often wondered how my nephew feels about that, since he usually gets 1 big (expensive) and 1 small gift and Emily gets tons of stuff. Of course, now that he’s 12 he should understand. I like the contracting the techno stuff out idea. Try that and see if it works with Jordan.

    Enjoy your day!

Hey hon! I’m bummed I missed your chat last night, but 11pm is way too late for me! Lol! I never make it to any chats cuz of that.

But I did just pimp your grab bags over in DST, so I’m glad you’re leaving them up for another day or so.

    Have a great one!

I’m bummed I didn’t make it to your chat. I was sitting here trying to put Atha to sleep, and she was flat refusing because her daddy wasn’t here to put her to sleep in the big chair. SIGH. I’m sure it was awesome, and how cool is that black light paper!!! Love it!
Doodles is a good monkey name, although I like Chad.
I have never had the kids arguing over who gets what Christmas presents thing yet, but I know I will soon with two girls less than two years apart. Bummer. I think that’s a good idea what HapE says above, to get some dollar store junque to even up the piles.
And Kat is a sweetie. They do have their moments, don’t they?

Had a great time! The present thing is tough…my lil sis used to ask the same thing so they started making sure we had the same things/number of things always, whether needed or not…which led to problems later… kind of a sense of entitlement. So, I like the contracting out approach if the one you’ve already tried (more $$ means fewer gifts) doesn’t work. Good luck!
