So Nice Outside Yesterday!

Posted by Heather On September - 27 - 2007

It was beautiful out!  It’s that time of year.  I swear, there is no place prettier than Iowa in the fall.  I can leave summer and winter, too hot and too cold, but it’s just gorgeous out here in the fall.  It smells good, it’s just cool enough, it’s my favorite time of year.

I took the kids outside and snapped a few pics of them playing!  Now, I wish I wish I wish I could take pics like Yen, Lani, or Kirsty do.  But alas, we’re stuck with mine.  LOL

First, Katiana went with daddy yesterday to look at houses.  I hope he’s serious about moving!  That would be awesome!  But, I guess she wanted to wear my sunglasses.

Riding her ‘bike’.  She got a new tricycle for her birthday in April.  It’s even Dora, but she won’t ride it.  She likes to look at it, but she won’t get on it.  LOL

Alyce goes Vroom Vroom!  Think she’ll ever grow hair on the sides?  LOL  It’s ok.  Kat started out that way too.  (Actually, she does have hair on the sides, it’s just there’s not much there compared to the mohawk she was born with.  LOL)

I’m innocent I promise!  I didn’t spill my ramen noodles on the porch.  I don’t know what the baby is trying to eat off of the ground.

She did too!  I saw her do it.  Why do you think I crawled over there as fast as I could?  Man, FREE FOOD!  (See the little bit of hair on the sides?  LOL)

Jordan slowed down long enough for me to take a picture.  He was playing tickle football.  I told Pato, isn’t that wierd?  Tickle football?  I mean, look at them, they’re on the ground, they are rolling all over?  Come on, Pato, that’s just wierd!  Heather, let them play!  Oh, whatever.  LOL

Then, I took Katiana to the library and -she’s a big girl now.  Yep, she is.  She’s got a lot of responsibility now that she has her own – da di da! – LIBRARY CARD!  She always asks why Jordan has one and she doesn’t.  Mom, I want my own library card.  Kat, I don’t think you’re old enough.  That’s NOT fair!  That’s what I’m talking about girl.  LOL

I asked them how old you had to be to get one, and they said it’s up to the parent.  I figure, I already check her books out on my card, so I’m responsible for them that way.  What’s the difference of them being on her card, and me being responsible for them?  And I love that at 3 she loves to read with me.  She’s got my love for books!

I checked out Jordan the first in the series of Hardy Boy books.  He brought home one of the Harry Potter books from the library at school and I said to his teacher, am I buying him the wrong books?  I mean,  I was still getting him the ones with the pictures, you know?  LOL  She said at school they have the 5 finger rule.  Everytime you don’t understand a word, you hold up a finger.  When you get to 5 fingers, put the book back and try another because that book might be too hard.  But that if he wants to read Harry Potter at home for fun, let him!  Well, hello, do you think I’m going to stop my son from reading???  I just wanted to know if I should be buying him more advanced books because he’s ready for them.  He was all excited when he saw the Hardy Boys book.  I said, when I was little, I read every single Nancy Drew book.

Yeah mom, we read those in school!  Well, meet Nancy Drew’s friends, the Hardy Boys!  OH, I’ve seen those at the library!  Thanks mom!  Thanks!  And he sat down and started to read it.  Yippie!  I love that they love to read.  In the world of technology that we are in, I know he’d rather play on my computer or play the playstation, but he doesn’t get much of that.  I’d rather him be outside or reading, or anything that involves using your brain.  I do tell him that a lot.  Mom, can I play the playstation?  No Jordan, go find something to do that uses your brain.   LOL

ETA:  Kim has a really cool freebie that matches my Dirt Don’t Hurt Kit!  You should check it out ASAP!  And Kim, I love ya girl!  I’m still all weepy over here!

Have to show you a neat layout that Tricia did with my Dirt Don’t Hurt – Neutrals Kit that I RAK’d her with.

It’s great that the kids have your love of reading. It’s one of my favorite things to do, and I haven’t done much since I started scrapping. Great Rak’s – it’s karma baby. Maybe some will spill over to me too. Hope you have a great day.

Great pics Heather! It wasn’t too bad here yesterday either, but the mosquitos will still try to carry us away – so I don’t take Nadya out too often. The county has had 13 more cases of West Nile – not something I want to risk! :) We read to Nadya every night, so I’m hoping she’ll grow to enjoy reading as much as I did (well do, but there’s not much time for it right now). Have a great Thursday!

I love your photos. My in laws are always after me to get family portraits done, but I prefer snapshots, because they capture so much personality.
