New Layouts

Posted by Heather On August - 4 - 2007

Woohoo!  Just in the nick of time.  Got my Layout #5 and #6 done for the Amazing DigiScrap Race.

At least I think that’s what we’re on.  LOL

The first one was to scrap advice that you have been given.

Credits can be found here.  (You can also read the journaling better here)

The next one was harder for me.  I’m used to having lots of negative space to journal in or just to leave pretty and blank.  This one was one only one of us had to do.  It had to be a ‘messy’ layout and we had to use at least 15 elements.  You could only use 2 elements from each designer.  So, I dug into my grab bags I have bought and my handy dandy freebie folder, had to dust that puppy off, forgot I had some great stuff in there!  This is what I came up with:

Credits can be found Here.

What do you think?  I think it came out ok.

oooooh, remember the other day, Pato gave Alyce her medicine easy as could be?  She’s screaming right now while he’s giving it to her.  Better him than me.

That sweet little angel in the picture above?  She’s got an ear infection now.  She woke up from nap SCREAMING yesterday.  So, loaded the kids up and went to the doctor.  I had him check Jordan’s ears too, just in case.  I didn’t want to be back today with him.  I mean, 3 doctor’s visits in 5 days, who doesn’t want that?  So, she’s on the pink stuff now too.  Jordan’s ears, are perfect.

We also went and picked up Jordan’s new soccer uniform yesterday.  We had to special order it cuz the club changed colors.  Just bought his new uniform in the original colors last season because he outgrew the other one. GRR.  Anyways, I told them on the phone what size Jordan wears normally, and they had it bagged up, ready to go.  They had to put a number on the shirt, and um, we both said he wore #19.  Then we get in the car and we are thinking, wait, 19 is Alex’s number.  Jordan, you are number 3, and have been for 3 years.  Oh well, maybe Alex won’t be on his team this year.  LOL  When they are younger, it seems like a few of them have the same number anyway.  I shouldn’t say that, Alex is an awesome little player, and his dad is a great coach.  I really hope we do get them this year.  Anyways, off track again.  We got the shorts home, too small.  So, I have to take those back and get a bigger size.  I’m actually getting quite frustrated with Jordan.  He’s gained 37 lbs since I took him off the ritalin 1 year and 3 months ago.  He was getting really really skinny, and he could have used about 20 of those pounds.  His hip bones were leaving bruises on his skin.  But now, he’s 8 years old and weighs 93 lbs.  I try to watch what he eats.  I don’t have junk food in the house, but he is constantly getting in the fridge or in the cupboards.  If I don’t let him have food, he cries.  Which is fine with me.  He still doesn’t get the food.  There is no reason to be crying over food 30 minutes after you ate.  I’ve cut his portions down.  He could eat as much as Pato and I if I let him.  And, I’ve cut out gameboy, playstation, and tv during the day.  He now has to earn those back by getting outside and playing.  So many minutes of the electronic stuff after so many hours of playing.  Seriously, what kid does not want to play outside?  I think I’m going to sign him up for the Jr Menace Soccer clinic too.  It’s for the fall and spring.  He LOVES soccer, so that’s another way to get more exercise in on top of the regular 2 seasons he plays a year.  (The Menace are Des Moines’ professional league)

Baby is cranky, gonna sign off!

So, I was feeling around in my daughter’s mouth last night, and I thought her 2 front teeth were coming in.  But, there was a big ol gap between them, so I felt between the gap, and wouldn’t you know it, there’s another tooth.  So, she wasn’t getting her 2 front teeth in.  She was getting a front tooth and an eye tooth in, and now, she’s getting the second front tooth in.  All have cut through finally.  Poor baby.  Ear infection and 3 teeth breaking through, what do ya do?

Someone has been breaking into cars here in our complex.  It’s a bunch of kids in the complex.  9-16 year olds.  Last night they got our Tracker.  Which can’t be secured easily because the top is breaking.  Pato called this morning and said they got into his gym bag (my Ipod was in a side pocket).  They threw his clothes all over the car and got into the glove compartment and threw everything all over the front seat.  They didn’t find my Ipod thank goodness!  I would have been flying over to their apartments, whether I knew which one did it or not.  Nothing was stolen because my Ipod was the only thing of value in the car.  Pato keeps it cleaned out most of the time.  It just makes me mad that though the complex and police knows who is doing it, they can’t do anything until they catch them doing it.  GRRRR!

Update on my neighbor.  They did the surgery the day before yesterday, like I told you yesterday.  They are keeping her in a coma so that her brain doesn’t have spasms.  (Are they talking about seizures?)  She could be in ICU anywhere from 7 – 30 days depending on how she does.  They bring her out of the coma frequently to do range of motion things, and then put her back under.  It stinks that she is all the way in Iowa City (About a 3 hour drive) because I can’t leave Alyce that long to go visit.  With nursing, my cup would runneth over.  A lot.  And I have no one who could take them that long for me to go visit.  I might try on Pato’s next day off, take a pump and go.  I need to find out if they’d even let me into the ICU since I’m not family.

Alrighty, I have a tutorial and a frame for you over at Scrap Your Art Out!

New Challenge Up

Posted by Heather On August - 2 - 2007

First, I took Alyce to the doctor yesterday.  Poor baby has a raging ear infection in her right ear.  And for the record, she doesn’t like anyone looking in her ears, up her nose, or in her throat.  Really kind of ticks her off.  I felt so guilty because I didn’t take her to the dr on Friday when the fever started.  But, she said that if she had just started screaming the night before, they probably wouldn’t have seen anything on Friday so not to feel guilty.  Easier said than done I tell you! 2 doses of antibiotics later and she slept through the night last night.  YAY!  I got a little sleep in.

Oh my goodness, I went to the pharmacy right after the dr to get her medicine right?  I, brilliantly, thought it would be a good idea to give her the first dose right there, to get it started in her lil’ system.  Yeah, not a good idea.  She spit it all back out on my shirt.  Then she started screaming like I had tried to kill her.  Everybody in the store was staring at me like who is the evil mom?  Great.  I gave her another 1/2 a teaspoon when we got home, I know she spit at least that much back out on me.  Then last night, when Pato went to give it to her, she drank it down like it was candy.   He was all bragging about it.  I said, yeah, I gave her the first dose, she’s feeling more agreeable.  ROFL  He just thinks he has a magic touch.  Whatever.

I got an update on my neighbor last night.  She went into surgery at 3 yesterday afternoon and got out at 9.  That’s a long surgery.  All her boyfriend could tell us was that she was still out when they wheeled her by and that she was hooked up to lots of tubes.  I’d assume so.  The doctor hadn’t been out to say anything except for that the surgery technically went well.  They’ll know more about how she was doing when she came to.  So, I’m waiting for updates.

My new challenge is up at DSO!  I forgot to post that yesterday.  This month’s book of me challenge is to scrap your favorite feature.  I’ve been told this is tough, but I think all of us as women really need to look at ourselves and find something we love.  Too often all we do is criticize ourselves and see our flaws.  Let’s find something we embrace!

Here is mine:

The participation prize is shown in the Book of Me Post.  It’s a mini kit!  Go check it out!

Great Chat, Poor Baby, and Humpday Freebie

Posted by Heather On August - 1 - 2007

Last night was so much fun!  It was fun to meet people that I didn’t know as well before who hang out at DSO!  Goodies flying around everywhere.  I think almost all of the designers at DSO gave out something, my folder be running over.  LOL  And congrats to Tabatha for winning her choice of one of my kits!  She picked Me & My Teddy!

I’ll get the links out to you shortly!  Just need to upload!

Now to the poor baby.  I’m thinking she might have an ear infection.  The fever has been gone for a couple of days, just a runny nose, but last night she was SCREAMING all night.  Seriously, I was up from 2:30 to 4:30 a.m. with her, then from 5:30 to 6:30.  She dozed off an on from 4:30 to 5:30, but I couldn’t move.  I had to sit up with her cuz if I laid us down she would start screaming again.  She slept from 6:30 to 10:30, and that’s why I’m late posting my humpday freebie.  I slept.  I needed it.  Now, she was screaming again, nothing Pato or I could do was making her happy.  I had him stick her and Katiana in the bathtub so she could play while I post this and take a shower, then I’m running her up to the walk in dr because her doctor took today off.  Thanks a lot!  LOL  Not a lot of people I trust with my kids, and he’s gone today.  The walk in dr that I don’t like is on until noon, (he’s misdiagnosed Katiana and I a few times) and another one that I do like comes on then, so I’m waiting til 12:15 to take her in.

And an OMG, my neighbor was really sick last night.  She came over and sat on my porch with my other neighbor until her boyfriend got here to take her to the emergancy room.  She thought she ruptured one of her herniated discs in her neck.  I got a call this morning that they flew her by helicopter to Iowa City.  She has a brain aneurysm.  They either or doing surgery this morning or already did it.  (I was sleeping when the message came)  So, keep Jan in your prayers.

Here’s your humpday freebie!  A flower template.  I thought the petals would look awesome with either a fill from paper that coordinate with the background (or contrast) or with other pictures filled into it.

you could also resize the flower once you get it filled, merge the flower pieces together, then resize it to add room for more journaling or elements.

Don’t give your friends the direct download links, send them to my blog yourself to get their own goodies!

Now, run over to Kristine, Bunny, Joy, Lynn, Teriann and see what Humpday Goodies they have for you!
