LOL What a title huh?
I felt so much for Jordan last night. He broke my heart actually. He had soccer practice, and he had a good attitude during practice, so I didn’t think anything was wrong with him.
After practice, I normally have to chase him down to get him in the car. While I was talking to his coach, about how good he is at defense, he went to the car on his own. Now, let me tell you about the conversation with the coach, because it was awesome. He told me the other day that Jordan is the best sweeper they have on the time. He’s got no fear, and he’ll charge anyone coming at him with the ball. He is on under 10 this year which means they have GOALIES! Finally! And coach told me that if Jordan wanted to play goalie that he would like that. I told him we’d get Jordan goalie gloves, knee pads, and a goalie jersey for when he plays that. Now, he’ll still play other positions, but he’ll focus on goalie, which is what he has wanted to ever since he started playing soccer 3 1/2 years ago.
So, imagine my surprise when I get in the car and Jordan is crying. HUH? I just had a conversation about how good he is doing, and he’s crying? He told me that he doesn’t want to play soccer anymore, because the other boys won’t pass the ball to him, that he can’t make goals. I said, you’ll finish out the season, but let’s talk about how you can get them to pass the ball to you.
Now, if you noticed in my pics of Jordan below, he’s a little bit on the husky side. And, he’s not a fast runner. Which, I’m assuming one has to do with the other, though, when I was younger and skinny, I was never a fast runner. So, maybe it’s genetic? LOL I said, Jordan, how can you get the boys to pass you the ball? He didn’t know. I told him, you need to run faster. Now, how can you run faster? He didn’t know. LOL I said, you need to practice running. So, last night, he ran as fast as he could around our apartment building 5 times. (Our building is really long – I could probably make it half way around LOL) He was dying! I’d (carrying the baby) jog around our side to the back with him, then yell, run little man run! and he’d run around the back, then I’d job back up to the front as he was coming around that side, and yell, you can do it! I know you can, almost there..he’d pass me and say, one more time! LOL
I think he if he ran for 20 minutes or so every night, not only would it help with his weight, he’d probably be faster. Jordan has always fought his weight – well, except for when he took Ritalin, then he got so skinny that his hip bones were bruising his skin, and I took him off of it. Since I took him off of it at the end of kindergarten (he just started 2nd grade) he has gained 42 pounds. So, he was a 68 lb 3 year old, at 7 he weighed 56 lbs, and now at 8 1/2 he’s 98 lbs. I’ve cut down his portions, don’t keep any junk food in the house, and we don’t get McDonalds that often any more. And he still is gaining. I shoo him outside whenever he has a chance. I don’t know what else to do, other than be out there encouraging him when he is running. I just want him to be happy and healthy, and he’s not always happy when I’m trying to make him healthy. LOL

what a beautiful freebie, I always love seeing your charms and cute elements you create–very talented!
Best of luck trying to encourage Jordan! It sounds like you are trying to make so many postive changes!
Cute freebie!
You are a fantastic mom I am so impressed with you and I am more than impressed with Jordan. Give him chicken until he clucks, grilled with a few herbs and spices on and fill him up with vegetables (disguised if need be). Fruit salads with fromage frais or a little honey (natures elixir of life).
I do wish him well and I will be watching out for him in the coming years when becomes a ‘Super Star’.
Oh and I’m forgetting my manners, thank you so much for the freebies they are fabulous.
hugs Susie

Mom, don’t worry so much about the number on the scale. He might just naturally be a husky boy. Keep him active – what a trooper to run like that! – and keep the healthy food going. Does he know yet that he gets to be the goalie? He sure won’t have to worry about the other boys passing to him if his job is to block those shots – the other team will be “passing to him” plenty! LOL Keep encouraging him – you are teaching him to think through a problem and work toward a solution rather than simply brood about it, which is awesome! ~ Janet
WOW! You are such a Wonderful Mom to be running around with him! I think you gave him great advice, as they say practice makes perfect! I think with all your support and the sports he’ll be just fine and most boys grow out of that weighty stage anyhow
Your doing a Great Job I can see how happy he looks in the pictures
Have a Wonderful Weekend and Thanks for sharing this cute little charm
Read my blog today tootz.
Kiss J from Aunt Bunny!
Jordan reminds me so much of my brother when we were kids. My brother was always kind of built like a tank. LOL. Didnt matter that my mum only fed him exactly what she fed the rest of us, he still seemed to put on weight easier. Just keep up the exercise and the healthy eating. I love that you were out there running with him and the baby! that would have been quite amusing to watch. LOL I bet he loved all your attention and encouragement!
Sounds like you are one fantastic mom! well done you!
Thank you for all the freebies you generously give xxxxx much love
Oh Heather! I’m so proud of you and Jordan! As I mentioned in one of the other posts, my “lil” bro has ADHD and asthma – he couldn’t take Ritalin cause of the asthma and the asthma meds made his ADHD worse. He was pretty chunky from about 3rd grade on (once the ADHD meds started) and although he’s tall now, he’s not exactly skinny. I wish my parents had been as supportive and active as you’re being – it would have done all of us a world of good! Kudos to you for being such a great mom and kudos to him for not giving up!
That just breaks my heart. Keep working with him and make sure he feels better about himself. I worry about the same things with my baby. he is 5 and weighs 66 lbs. He’s not really fat but he is as solid as a rock. He is also a head taller than most of the boys in his kdg. class. hell he is as tall as most of the boys on the soccer team (most of them are 1st and 2nd graders). he weighs as much as them too. I totally understand why you dont want him to be on that medicine. I could talk about everything that has been going on with my son the past year and a half but it would be a book. i wish you guys lived near me. I could use someone to motivate me to run. maybe me and jordan could’ve ran together.
