New Camera, YAY! & A QP from my new kit yet to be released

Posted by Heather On July - 7 - 2007

I’m so happy!  I got my new camera yesterday.  I won a bid on ebay.  (My kodak broke, for some reason my LCD was all wanky and was just a funky screen)

I got this one:

I’m just happy cuz it has 7 MPs.  My kodak was 2 years old and had 4.  Woohoo me.  It’s got so many more features than my old one did.  It’s not the rebel, or even the Nikon that I wanted, but the price was right and I couldn’t pass it up.  Especially since I don’t see me getting either of the others in the near future.  LOL  The pictures I’ve taken so far are so much better than my other one took, so, Heather is a happy woman!

In celebration of my happiness, LOL  I’m giving you the QP to my new kit that hasn’t even been released yet.  It will be in a few days.  It is called, ‘Splash O’ Melon’.  And here is the QP.

I left lots of room for journaling and a title should you so want to use that space for it.  :o )

Special thanks to my gal, Micheline Martin for use of her rip template, it’s all about the cardboard 3, and big ol’ ribbon essentials.  Micheline ROCKS!

If you want to see more of my kit, open up my new TOU graphic in the zip file, minus the graph paper, that’s a few of the other items in the kit.  Not all, but a sneaky peaky.

Remember, don’t share the direct download link to the QP, send your friends to my blog to download it themselves!

Leave some love if you download!

Here’s a pic of Katiana I snapped while we were outside.  My kids were running around in their underwear when I was taking pics, so, I won’t subject them to putting these pics on the interent.  For obvious reasons.  :o )

Better than my old camera!  My other one I would have had to have applied filters to get it that bright, not bad for a point and shoot and the fact that I haven’t figured out all of the settings yet.  Now, to figure out how to get the date off of the pics.  LOL

I HATE shopping!

Posted by Heather On July - 6 - 2007

I went shopping yesterday for an outfit for my sister’s bachlorette party.  Bleh!

I went to Torrid.  Cute cute clothes.  HORRID dressing room lights.  Seriously people, why do they do that to you?  Do they want you to take one of the belts off of the dresses and string yourself up on the little hook that you hang the clothes on?  Cuz I was seriously contemplating it.  I HATE my stomach after having 3 kids.  It’s like a road map to nowhere, and it’s squishy, and I need some Spanx to put under stuff.

I left there, after trying on about 25 things, with this pair of jeans:

and the urge to crawl into a corner and cry and never come back out.

But then, I got home and searched Target’s website, and LOVED this shirt:

and these shoes:

Does it matter that your surrounded by size 0 and 1′s if you love the shoes you have on?

My mama is coming in later to go to Target with me so she can watch the kids and I can try those on.  Let’s hope they fit or tomorrow’s blog post may be a REALLY REALLY long rant about hating the way I look.

My Freebie today is over at the new blog, Scrap Your Art Out.  Check it out!

Did you have a good 4th? And a freebie!

Posted by Heather On July - 5 - 2007

So, what did you all do for the fourth of July?

We ended up going to the parade, which was later than I thought it was.  We were supposed to be there at 1:30 to meet my brother and SIL to sit with them.

Someone –>Pato<– wasn’t ready when it was time to leave.  He still hadn’t taken a shower.   So, we left our house at 1:55 (the parade started at 2).  We ran to the gas station and grabbed water bottles, and zoomed to the end of the parade route, ran ran ran to find a spot, and had about 10 minutes to spare before the parade got to the end.  (We would have missed the beginning if we went to where my brother was)

You should have seen Katiana.  She was waving like Miss America saying he-llo!  he-llo! to everyone that passed, and if they didn’t throw candy, she’d cross her hands in front of her, like hmph, last time I wave at you.  LOL  It was cute though rude.  We had a talk, of course, about not everyone having candy, and needing to be gracious about it.  They got about 1/4 of a grocery bag full of candy.  A lot of the people were out of candy by the time they got to the end of the route.  Then, we ended up skipping my grandma’s because we were starving for food, not ice cream, and went and had Chinese.  Yummy yummy!

Then, I went to the casino with my mom and dad and came home with a little more than I went with.  That was a nice surprise!

Then I raced home and got Pato and the kids and we went and watched fireworks.  This is the  first year that Katiana hasn’t flipped out because of the noise.  YAY!  Even Alyce was watching them!  It was fun to be with both of my brother’s and their families!

Here’s your freebie!  I was practicing stitching patterns for my new kit and thought I’d put this up for a couple of days.  Grab it quick cuz it will go in the store!

Click on the image to see the preview full size.

Don’t give your friend’s the direct download link!  Send them to my blog to get it themselves.

Leave some love if you download!

Happy 4th!

Posted by Heather On July - 4 - 2007

Happy 4th of July to my fellow Americans!  I hope you stay safe and have a great day!

What in the world?  No one entered my contest.  *crying*  Is it cuz it’s the fourth of July weekend?  Maybe I’ll try it again another day.

Mel and I have entered the Amazing Digi Scrap Race!  You can keep up with our progress over here!

And last night was crazy!  We went out to my parents’ house and set off fireworks with everyone who made Missouri runs.  I know, I know, naughty, naughty.  That was fun!  Then, about 11, the wind picked up and started blowing the chairs around (and these aren’t the flimsy chairs, they are big, heavy ones), the lightening and thunder started, so we hurried up and got everything put away.  My brothers and their families left quickly, only to call and say that it was BAD out.  I thought we were going to have a tornado.  I ran to put the walker in the car, got to the car and it started pouring on me.  In the time it took me to put the walker in the car and RUN back to the house, I was soaked all the way through.

I waited til it started just sprinkling, and got the kids in the car and took off for home.  (A 25 minute drive).  Kid you not, I swear we drove right into a lightening storm.  I was quietly freaking out inside as not to completely stress out Jordan.  Lightening all around us, and it was shooting sparks off in the sky.  I’ve never seen that.  Sparks across the sky.  Some of the lightening was going sideways across the sky.  It would have been the coolest thing I have ever seen, had I not been driving through it.  We made it home though, in one piece.  My hands were so sore from gripping the steering wheel like I did.

Today, Pato is going to play soccer, Jordan is going to watch, and then we’ll go to the parade and off to my grandma’s.  Hope you guys have a great 4th!

The UK and a Quickie Contest

Posted by Heather On July - 2 - 2007

Have I been living in a glass bubble?  I think I have.  Because I didn’t know everything that was going on across the pond until I was laying down the baby and was watching Fox News on my phone.  Thank God for quick working police!  They have thrawted so many attempts at car bombings and as of right now have arrested 7 people involved in the situation.  According to what I heard on the news, and like I said I’m obviously out of the loop.  I haven’t watched the news in forever, I rarely watch TV and when I’m on the computer, I’m working, where was I?  Oh, they are looking for an 8th person.  If you’ve been hiding under a rock like me, you can read more about it here.  My thoughts are with you all over there, and I hope you stay safe and this is the end of it!

Our own homeland security director said that we are not raising the terror alert here in the US, but that we as American’s need to be extra vigilant right now.

I used to feel safe, because I live in Iowa, right?  And who is going to attack a bunch of corn fields.  We don’t have any humongous skyscrapers, huge freeways, I mean we have interestates, but not like you get in big big cities.  (I don’t want them to attack anyone here again, obviously)  I mean, what are they going to do?  Attack a bunch of corn fields?

Then one day awhile ago, I was listening to Jan Mickelson on 1040 WHO – our local news radio station…not too local, I’ve heard people from lots of other states call in and say that they can here it over there, how do I get off topic so easily?  Anyways, he said, how could you hurt this country?  Where could you hit us where it would hurt the most?  The midwest.  Where most of our food comes from.  Great.  There goes my sense of security.  I mean, I don’t live next to corn fields, but it’s not like they are that far away on any side of me.  I live in Iowa.  What are we known for?  Corn.  It’s everwhere.  We’d be screwed for gas here in Iowa too.  The majority of our gas is ethanol, made from corn.

Why do the extremists hate us so much?  I’m talking way back before we invaded Iraq.  Is it because of our freedom?  Is it because of our religions?  Is it both?  I will never understand.  And please, don’t post on here that it’s all because of Bush.  They hated us long before he was in office.  And I’m not wanting to start a political debate.  I just wish this would end.  And, I don’t think it’s going to end with us pulling out of Iraq.  It started before we were there.

Ok, not gonna dwell anymore, I just wanted in the beginning to tell you all in the UK that I’m thinking of you and that I hope this is the end of it with the police finding the suspects involved.  Stay safe!  (((hugs)))

Here is Des Moines’ skyline with our couple of skyscrapers.  I still think it’s pretty.

Here is my quickie contest for you all!  I’ve given away a lot of freebies on my blog.  And I want to see you use them!  :o )  And I need recipes for the 4th of July celebration at my grandma’s house.  So, I was thinking I could combine them!

I want you to use something of mine to make a recipe layout!  Share with me your favorite summertime treat.  You don’t have to use all of my stuff, use something in conjuction with someone else’s.  Or use all of mine.  LOL  And have I got the perfect place for you to post your layouts!  Kristine is hosting the recipe challenge this month over at DSO!  If you post your layout in that gallery (and link it to the challenge) not only will you be in to win my prize, but you will get a spiffy goody from her too!  How bout that!

Now, you don’t have to post it at DSO, you can post it anywhere, but why not?

Now, what could you win?  I’m going to have you go to my store, and pick 3 of your favorite products.  When you get your layout done, post the link over here so I can go check it out, and check out the recipe.  Also, tell me what 3 of my products you would like to win in the same comment.  (Personal use only, no commercial)  I will read off the choices to my kids and they will decide what they think sounds most yummy to them!  Whoever they choose, will win all 3 of the products they chose.  Make sure you leave your email addy so that I can email you your download links.

If you don’t have any of my freebies, click here, it’ll show you all of my posts with freebies.

And why is it a quickie contest?  Because you have until 10:00 p.m. CST on July 3rd to get it done.  I need time to go shopping to get supplies!

I hope a lot of your participate!  I’d love to see all of your recipes! – and what you do with my scrappy goodies!

One last thing, make sure you check out the new designer blog called Scrap Your Art Out!  It is going to be  fun place where designers and digiscrappers can share info on technique and scrapbooking. And maybe share a freebie or two!  And it’s not going to be just DSO designers.  We are hoping to take on designers from all over the digiworld!
