New Product, A Freebie, and hmmm…who knows what else!

Posted by Heather On June - 29 - 2007

I know what I could share!  Still brings a smile to my face.  At your house, when you want your kids to help, is it like pulling teeth?

Katiana doesn’t have ‘chores’ per say.  She just needs to do whatever it is I tell her.  Which is usually helping Jordan pick up the living room, because usually it’s a lot of her stuff.  Or if I ask him to help me in the kitchen, she helps by picking up her stuff.  More or less, whereever Katiana stuff has landed, she needs to help pick up.  Now, mind you she is 3.  So, that is her responsibility.  And do you know what I hear when I ask her to do it?  “hmmmph, no fair!”  Whatever.  Get your butt moving.  I used to try to reason with her, explain it was her stuff.  Now, I’ve decided there is no reasoning with a 3 year old.

Now, Jordan on the other hand, he has 2 things he is supposed to do.  Pick up the living room (with his sister’s help) and keep his room clean – pardon me while I fall off of my chair laughing at that thought.  Ok, I’m better now.  Sometimes, when I’m busy with the baby, I’ll ask him to empty the dishwasher, or get stuff off the kitchen floor, for some reason, there are always toys in my kitchen?  I think on average, I have to say something to him 50 times before anything is done completely.  He starts, he gets distracted, he starts again, he gets distracted.  Really, if I wasn’t trying to teach my kids it’s not ok to live like pigs (not cluttered, I can handle clutter, I’m comfortable with clutter - they would live like pigs – garbage everywhere, food everywhere - if I let them) it would just be easier to do it myself.

So, imagine my surprise at 11 last night when my son is still not asleep, though he’s been in his bed since 9.  He comes out and says, mom, what can I do to help you?  I said, um…go to bed.  He said, no, I think I’m going to clean the living room.  I said, it’s pretty much done, if you want to clean something, clean the kitchen.  Thinking he’d whine and go back to bed.  Nope, he went in, started picking stuff up, took the garbage out, swept, then got out my swiffer wet jet and cleaned the floor.  Seriously, just about fell off my chair.  Pato called on his way home  to see if I needed anything, I said, um, no, but I’m not sure what Jordan is up to, he must want something.  LOL

He didn’t ask for anything (think he’s holding it as ammunition for later?).  He just cleaned it, talked to Pato when he got home, then went off to bed.  What the heck?  Not that I’m complaining, but who replaced my son with a clone who wants to help me????  And please, leave him here!  LOL  I did tell him how proud I was of him for doing that without being told and that it really helps mommy out a lot when he does things like that.

Isn’t he wonderful when he wants to be???

Ok, new product!

I was telling you about these yesterday!  These are the first in my new Messed Up Memoirs Line!  – The Tags!

They are kind of dirty, kind of bent, but glittery enough to make them pretty!

AND, they are on sale right now for 25% off!  Woohoo!  Can’t beat that!

Go check them out!

And your freebie!  Remeber all the denim stuff I did earlier?  Well, this goes with those.  It’s a denim wrapped tag, in the same denim as the papers and the ribbon matches the sunflower elements.  Just another pretty to add to your little mini kit you’re building up!

And I don’t know if you can read the bottom here, but it says, if you enjoy my freebies, pay it forward!  Do something nice for someone else!  (Don’t foward the freebie.  LOL  – I can see that happening.  That would be piracy, I just mean, if you enjoy this, go out and do something nice for someone else.)

And, leave some love if you download!

Don’t send your friends the direct download link, send them to my blog to get the goodies themselves!  Thanks!

Girl, that’s a great freebie, and SUPER STELLAR information about your son helping you out. I love it when that happens at my house (though it doesn’t happen all that often) lol.

You’re right about kids doing things because it’s what we told them to do, my daughter is 6, and there is still very little ‘reasoning’ with her.

  2. Schmoopie says:

WOW – what an amazing surprise to have him clean the kitchen! LOL! Great tags!! they rock!! Have a great day!

  3. Jen says:

  5. Cheryl Embry says:

Beautiful tag Heather! LOVE IT! And that son of yours, how SWEET of him, but as you say, it may come back to haunt ya!~ LOL~ I know, cuz I raised 4 of them!!!

  6. Lynn G says:

LOL – funny story. I think I would be calling the doctor if my DD did that. Even tidying her room means a major battle! Don’t you just get sick of constantly picking up at the end of each day? I hate it.

Thank you for your wonderful shares and taking the time to make them for us!

I wanted to tell you about a new freebie forum I have started.

Please come and check it out at http://scrapperdesign.com/forum.

I just put it up last night and I have put as many freebies on their from the designers that I can, but the designers need to post their own freebies. You have more control over your freebies that way and what a way to drive scrappers to your blog/website! Hope to see you there! Hugs,Ruthie.
