Not Everyone's Mama

I am the maid of honor in my sister’s wedding next month.  Isn’t she sweet?  I cried when she asked me.  I always joke around that I’m always a bride, never a bridesmaid.  (I’ve been married before LOL)  Well, I didn’t cry because of that, I cried cuz I was so touched that out of all of her friends she wanted me to be her maid of honor. 

My mom and I went with her to look for her wedding dress and look at bridesmaids’ dresses.  Her dress is STUNNING!   I can’t wait to take pics of her in it.  She literally looks like a princess.  Took our breath away when she tried it on and we knew it was the one.  My mom bought that, then we were looking at dresses for myself and the other girls.  We found the ones she liked, and I was shocked when my mom bought mine too.  $270 for the dress, at first.  Something happened, I don’t remember exactly what it was, but I think it turned out that they didn’t have my dress in the color that she wanted (she wanted my dress to be a little different from the others, but in the same color/fabric), even though they said they did, but what do you do?  So, she went down and picked out a different one.  It’s the same as the other girls have now.  Where’s my individuality?  ROFL, just kidding.  It’s a beautiful dress, but it was more, so my mom paid for that.  And then, because um, well, they measured me right after I had Alyce (Like she was 3 weeks old) and my milk was coming on strong, I had to go up the first plus size to fit my chest, so that was $15 more.  And mom did that.

So, now I have the dress, and guess what, it’s too big in the chest. LOL  I needed to get it taken in there, and it’s waaaay too long.  Some in the waist.  And my mom has already put out so much on this dress, I wanted us to pay for the sizing myself.  They wanted $180 to size my sister’s dress.  I said, um….I’m going to Pato’s woman to size my dress.  LOL

This lady owns a store where we have our area of Mexican buisnesses.  And she rocks!  Jordan wears a 12 husky in pants, but in order to fit him in length, we have to roll them up about 6 inches, at least.  So, she hems up his pants.  All I have to do is send the new pair down with Pato with an old pair and she gets them done in a day or so.  And she is so cheap, it almost makes me feel guilty.  (Til I look at the price of the clothes she sells in her store, and I know she’s probably doing ok LOL)  Last time we took in 6 pairs of Jordan’s jeans and 2 pairs of Pato’s that had ripped at the hem – $24. 

Guess how much it is going to cost to get my dress sized?  $25 – and she does such a great job!  Guess how long?  Now, I just got my dress a week ago.  (It sat at the bridal store since March, they never let us know it was in)  The bridal store says a month or so to do alterations, which puts me um, past the wedding.  This lady said, next week it will be done. 

So, now my mom wants me to take her mother of the bride dress  – which is stunning! down to get it hemmed.  My mama is even shorter than me.  LOL  I’m not that short, I don’t think – 5’4″, but my mom is 5′ even.  So, if these special occasion dresses are long on me, lordy are they long on her!

I’m just happy to be getting done so quickly, one less thing for my sister to stress about.
