The poor mommy bird was trying to protect her babies from the thunderstorm we had this afternoon. She had hail bouncing off of her and the rain was just pounding her.
I had a brilliant idea. If only she would let me help her. I thought she’d fly away, but when I got closer, she just closed her eyes really tight and sat very still like maybe I wouldn’t notice her, and I was able to shield her from the storm. 
)
I was shocked that it stayed up for the worst part of the storm, but it didn’t blow off until it was just drizzling out. And when I tried to put it back up, she flew away and waited for me to leave. But, at least the hail wasn’t pounding her anymore.

After being pounded by rain and hail, she probably though “thank god!” when you came over with your umbrella! Your probably an angel to that lil’ bird! bless ya and good for you! If only more people would do things like that…
