It has been way too long since I posted! Can I tell ya why? I’ve been working way too hard. LOL Well, that and my back is killing me. I need to go to my chiropractor today. I haven’t been in a month because my car was overheating and I had to wait for Pato to fix it, 3 different hoses later he finally found the one that was cracked.
Then, I couldn’t find my keys forever! I knew I wasn’t crazy! After he fixed my car, I went out to my parents house. I came home, it was late, I got out of my car, unbuckled a sleeping Jordan, woke him up enough to walk. Pulled Alyce’s car seat out, she was screaming, hates her car seat. Then went around to the other side, and got Katiana out. I carried her in one arm, Alyce’s car seat slung over the other arm, and had Jordan hold on to my pocket so he wouldn’t fall in the parking lot sleep walking. We came in the sliding glass door which was unlocked.
I swear, my keys were in my purse, I mean, if I had that many things to carry, I would have stuck my keys in my purse before even getting the kids out. I went to go to the chiropractor last Monday, no keys. I emptied out my purse, looked all over the entertainment center, on the counters, on top of the fridge, cleaned out my car, on the dressers in my bedroom, searched the bathroom counters. No keys. Now, remind you for days after this, I’m asking Katiana, where are my keys? I don’t know.
Finally, after quite a few days of not being able to go anywhere, I asked Katiana, are you sure you don’t know where mommy’s keys are? They are in the bag with the toys. What bag with the toys? The bag mom! And a light bulb went off, she had been playing with one of those bags that pampers wipes refills come in, she took the refills out and had filled it up with toys. I had actually TOUCHED this while looking for my keys. She had stuck it in the closet in the kitchen where we keep our shoes and thinking I dropped my keys when I put my shoes away? I searched there too. So, I had moved that bag into a basket I keep odds and ends in by the closet. I ran into the kitchen, praying the bag was still there. Yep, it was, emptied out all the toys, and guess what? My keys were in the bottom.
I’m NOT CRAZY! I knew they were in my purse! She got them out. Do you know what my sweet little 3 year old looked up at me and said when I found them? “See mom, I told you they were in the bag with the toys.” She was all smiles from “finding” my keys. A week I tell you, I think it was a week I was looking for those, and asking her every day where they were. She got the “Stay out of mommy’s purse” lecture. But, I was so happy to have them back, I couldn’t be mad.
So, I got my keys back just in time for my mommy’s graduation party on Saturday. Yep, my mama graduated from college 7 days before her 55th birthday.
We were so proud of her we put together a lil’ surprise party for her! She thought we were just going to have a camp fire as a family, and then we all start bringing out stuff to grill. My dad took her to Des Moines so I could get the cake in the house.
So, we all get there. I told my brother to take mom outside to smoke so that we could get the cake out and hang up all of her congratulations cards and her graduation stuff she had. (You can see from the pic that she did rather well in college too, she was in phi beta kepa – I believe it is – for her awesome GPA, and she made the dean’s list and the president’s list over and over for carrying a 4.0! My mama is smart!) So, we decorated with all of those pretties she was wearing.
Now, we’re not quite done decorating, almost ready to call everyone in, but not quite. All of a sudden the door opens and in walks mom. So, Shelley – My sister N law, Abby, my sister, and myself, are trying to block the cake and the stuff we hung around it. LOL Abby goes in front of us and says, what’s up? Mom said she spilled her dr pepper. So, Abby said, oh, I’ll get you a new one. And she said, ok, I’ll go get new socks. She spilled it all over her socks. And Shelley and I were like crap, if one of us moves to go get socks, she’s going to see everything. LOL
So, mom is trying to get by us, and we are dancing back and forth, moving together, trying not to let her through. She said, I need socks. We said, go without. LOL After a couple of seconds of us going back and forth, she said, what is going on? And she peaked around us and saw it all. She was not supposed to see it until my brothers, my brother in law to be, and my dad came in. She started crying. It was a beautiful thing. Then the boys came in and got yelled at for letting her come in the house. LOL
Ok, so that wasn’t all. We get our food and we’re sitting in the house getting ready to eat. And my mom saw a car pull in the driveway. And she starts getting all weepy again because her best friend is there! About a half an hour after that, she’s eating her hamburger, and the door opens in the kitchen and she heard my Aunt Sue say, “hello?” My mom looks up and is looking everywhere, and my Aunt walks in. My mom started crying so hard, after she choked on her hamburger that is. She was taking a bite when she saw my aunt and gasped and that bite went down the wrong pipe. Poor mom! My Aunt Sue and Uncle Walt drove up here (2 hours) to help us surprise my mom. My mom’s other sister is in Alabama, so she couldn’t make it, but she was with us in our thoughts! It was just so neat!
Later after it was just our family, mom starts asking how we did this without her knowing. And she said, Heather, you can’t keep a secret, I can’t believe you didn’t tell me. LOL What do you mean I can’t keep a secret? Obviously I can. Thank you very much! LOL And my dad said, “Oh, come on, she didn’t even give you a hint?” No, I didn’t. LOL I can’t keep secrets from my mama very often. She’s my best friend, I tell her everything!

My mom stops by my blog every once in awhile, so if you want to leave her a congrats! That would be awesome! I love you and am so proud of you mom!
I also got to give a shout out to my little sister! She and mom were going to school at the same time, and Abby was finished in January! So, they would have done the same graduation ceremony. I’m not sure exactly why Abby didn’t go to the ceremony, well, she went, but she sat with us, but I want to tell her that I am so proud of her too. She carried a very high GPA also and was in phi beta kapa and on the President’s/Dean’s lists also! Abby, congrats and I love you too!!!!!
